Best hotel/B&B experience ever!! First off, Tony is an amazing host. He is very welcoming, extremely knowledgeable about the city of Montreal, cooks a killer breakfast and encourages guests to engage with eachother. The morning breakfast table talk was always engaging and enjoyable. His place becomes your place as soon as you walk though the doo, you will feel right at home. Super cozy room and a very comfortable bed. Thanks for the great stay T, I will be back!! - Connor :)

Breakfast first. Our host Chef Tony makes the best breakfast in Montreal. Location location location. This B&B is located a short walk from the metro (public transportation). We stayed in a newer suit with a private bathroom. We had everything and more to enjoy our stay. But I must be honest this was our third stay and it will not be our our last.

Walking in can be a bit overwhelming, but as you get to know Tony, you see the story of his life embedded in every corner of this charming gite. Well situated for a walk along the Lachine Canal to Old Montreal or the Metro, the real charm is getting to know Tony as host. The room we stayed in (#2) was comfortable, clean, quiet and restful. Excellent breakfasts and helpful advice. As we were leaving, we had a tire valve problem that Tony went out of his way to remedy and referred us to an excellent nearby garage that fixed the issue. Fun stay with an interesting character that you will never experience at a hotel. Two thumbs up!

My wife and I signed up for a four-night stay at Repos & Manna on our way to Ottawa from the States at the beginning of August with the intention of having a well-rounded experience for my wife's first visit to Montreal and we were not disappointed! I can concur with everything other reviewers have said about Tony's knowledge and helpfulness, as well as the feeling that you are with family by the end of your stay. (I particularly appreciated Tony's way of being helpful without being overbearing - for example, not saying "I told you so" when I eventually realized that he was right about how much easier it would be to see what we wanted to see by taking the Metro rather than our car ;) .) Repos & Manna itself is a small but very cozy setting, and like Montreal as a whole you are likely to find yourself engaging in casual conversation there with friendly people from many parts of the world (particularly at breakfast, with Tony skillfully facilitating the cultural exchange as needed). Tony's breakfast is also like a microcosm of Montreal cuisine in the sense of being interesting and diverse as well as high quality. Overall, Repos & Manna is an ideal bed and breakfast in and of itself as well as being surprisingly convenient to many of the venues and other attractions scattered throughout the city. (P.S. We found the parking situation a little awkward on our first day or so, until we took the initiative to walk around a bit and discover nearby streets that had a different cleaning schedule. If it weren't for the fact that we had our bicycles and camping gear with us, however, I would have said that we didn't really need to have a car at all.)

We spent four nights being hosted by Tony, with his wonderful conversation and delicious breakfasts. We had the family room as the other rooms were booked and it was very comfortable. We didn't need the air conditioning, but with the Montreal humidity, even in 65F weather we found the circular fan a welcome addition in the evening. The bed was very comfortable, and the shared bathroom was no problem. Tony's guests all seem to be the type of people who are respectful of others. As we were there four mornings Tony made sure he prepared us a different meal each breakfast and all were excellent and ample. The conversation at the table and with Tony was always interesting and, as my wife and I were ones not on a schedule, often went to 10. Tony was a great guide to Montreal, with maps and explanations on the different areas to visit. Repos is just two blocks from the Georges Varnier metro stop so with the free, unlimited on street parking we had no need to use our car. A three day. Metro pass was the equivalent of a little over $16 US each so we rode and walked everywhere. We don't know when we will get to Montreal again, but we love the city and now we have a place to stay that we also love. This was a find on Trip Advisor (although we booked directly with Tony) and a great find it was. Thanks for your great hospitality!!

I am a Canadian who grew up in Montreal and graduated from McGill as well as Concordia. I speak fairly good French as well as English and Hungarian. I know Montreal really well (some areas) but live and work in the US. I had to travel up to Montreal to meet with my sister as well as to take care of my late mother's financial issues. Generally speaking I prefer AirBNB and B&B places a hundred times over hotels. So I went to Expedia, to search for a non-hotel place to stay at. I came across Repos & Manna on rue Quesnel in the St Henri district. Besides the areas around the Linel Groulx metro station, I don not know this district well. Bear in mind, for walkers, or those that use public transit, that the closest metro stations are Georges Vanier and Lucien L'allier. Unless you are familiar with the St Henri district or "arrondissement" do have a well charged GPS unit or phone to determine how to walk to this address from a metro station, even though from the Georges Vanier station the home is really just a few minutes away. Montreal's transit system is among the best on the planet. It was a piece of cake to take the 747 autobus from Trudeau-Dorval airport to the Lionel Groulx metro station (downtown metro transit point). The buses and metro are new, revised, clean, beautiful, and wonderful to ride. A one week OPUS pass costs a mere $29 CDN plus $6 for the chip-embedded reloadable card (if you don't already have one). With this you can travel the whole island of Montreal. On the outside, this place is a cute, well maintained townhome in a row block of buildings. Check in time is 3:00 PM. The owner of this B&B (gîte de passant) is an Italian gentleman, Tony. I arrived a bit earlier than the 3:00 PM check in time. Tony told me that my room, upstairs room #2 wasn't ready yet. However he did allow me to stow my baggage at the place. At this point I walked to Atwater street and walked around St. Catherine for hours and enjoyed every minute. My phone died. I went back to Lionel Giroux metro station, and could not find the place despite walking around for hours (I am not familiar with the St Henri district). Tony, the owner of this B&B did specify that he provides all that you need to get around his place and how to navigate the streets. However I, as a proud Montrealer, felt that I really know the city and declined his offer for help. So I can't hold it against him that his place is hard to find if your GPS device is not working. There is a ton of art, paintings, artifacts, photos, sculptures, stuffed animals, figurines, musical instruments, etc decorating Tony's home. Also there are boxes, a large dining room table with 6 chairs (where guests are served breakfast), and boxes of bottled water, canned food, beer etc along the wall. The place is packed with visual stimulants, bookshelves and walls loaded with art, etc. I got room (chambre) #2. The room is cozily decorated and houses a large double bed, a microwave and mini-fridge, paintings, a wall mounted television in the corner, and shelves containing vases, books - mainly small new testiment bibles in English or French. There is a common, very clean bathroom on the floor. The bathroom is well maintained with soaps, shampoo, bath tissue, etc. If you get up in the middle of the night to leave your room, there are numerous sensor activated LED lights to light your way from your bedroom to the bathroom and also in the bathroom. Breakfast: Tony prepares the breakfast by hand every morning between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. The breakfasts are large. The breakfasts change every day. Tony told me that he wants to make sure we are well fed so that we can skip lunch. This is a good thing. Tony is talkative. He will make an effort to get to know you and will also tell you about himself. He encourages guests to interact with each other - this makes breakfast a lot more interesting. Plus he will encourage you to speak English and French (and if you know Italian, then that too), in a wide variety of topics. There is always bottled water available. Another plus: Tony heard that my sister was also in Montreal - she was staying at a hotel on Drummond Street. He said that I should bring my sister to get a free breakfast. I brought this up to my sister. However she is on a strict diet and only eats 2 yoghurts for breakfast, so she unfortunately declined - but was impressed by the offer. Since this is a Bed and Breakfast place, the bed is not made. The towels are in your room and you are encouraged to keep using them. There are no towels in the two guest bathrooms (one on 2nd floor, the other going down to the basement). A key code is used to enter the premises, and if you come back late (after midnight), you have to use the shower in the bathroom leading down to the basement. All in all I had a great experience at Repos & Manna B&B. Photos are attached.

It was a last minute booking and we were fortunate to get two nights as Repos is in high demand. But, what a lovely surprise we had when we arrived! This clean and airy house situated in a quiet leafy area of Montreal, 5-7 minutes from the subway. A bed and breakfast unlike any other. Tastefully decorated rooms, plush furnishings, with a touch of luxury here and there, our stay was an upgraded home away from home - a joy to return to after each outing. Tony is the consummate host and renaissance man. Breakfasts are an event, nourishing, filling prepared by chef Tony himself with great conversation and lively stories. As regards the sights, he explained to us everything we needed to know, whether it be places to eat, things to see, shopping, parks, museums, etc, Tony advised on the perfect tourist/visitor itinerary for each guest. Did we mention the wonderful eclectic art collection? Repos & Manna is a gem! Thank you Tony!!!

ony was awesome. As we arrived he spent all the necessary time to explain everything about Montreal must see sand he was always available to give advices. His breakfasts are excellent (5 different meals over 5 mornings) and the breakfast is always a great time. We had long and nice discussions in the morning sharing with other guests and Tony. The room was large and well equipped. The bed was very good. The house is always very clean. The location of the B&B is just perfect. Far enough to be in calm environment but very close to the metro and at walking distance of the old town of Montreal. Do not change anything Tony!

My 17 year old son and I stayed at Repos & Manna B&B from August 27-31, 2022 which I refer to as "Tony's". On route I gave Tony the heads up about arrival time and he was there to greet us and orientate us to Montreal. The next 4 days we enjoyed amazing breakfasts made by Tony. Our room was clean, stocked and comfortable for the 2 of us. The bed was AMAZING! Two full bathrooms made it easy to shower and leave whenever we needed. The location was great. Less than 5 min walk to the metro (subway) and approx 35 min walk to "old Montreal". We took the metro everywhere and still got in over 12 000 steps a day. I liked knowing Tony stayed in house. It was like having a big brother look out for us. We felt safe and his home felt like home by the time we left. If you plan to go to Montreal contact Tony immediately. You will not regret it. Thank you Tony for being an amazing human being and host. Jenn & Liam

More than just a B&B, Repos & Manna is where travellers meet and exchange, while enjoying Tony's fabulous breakfasts and stories. Conveniently located in the interesting Quartiers du Canal, near Lionel Groulx and Georges Vanier metro stations and Atwater Market. Tony will tell you all you need to know about Montreal and more. Very clean rooms and bathrooms, with aircon, fan, fridge, microwave and TV. A home away from home in Montreal - a great place to stay.
