Le Mount Stephen is extremely well situated boutique hotel in downtown Montreal with tremendous character. The exterior of the building is an impressive old mansion which stands out on the street. However, the interior is very modern with a clean luxurious feel. When you enter the room the shutters automatically open, and the lighting features are very high tech and convenient. The rain shower in the bathroom is equipped with mood lighting, and the bed is super comfortable. The front desk staff and concierge are extremely welcoming and helpful, as is the valet. We will definitely return to the Mount Stephen when in Montreal and would recommend it without reservation.
Very interesting property. The original mansion is historical and very impressive, and the reception/concierge and guest rooms are the epitome of modern luxury. Definite wow factor with the room controls for lighting and shade/curtain control as well as an incredible bathroom setup.
We stayed here during Covid in summer 2021. So this review is very much based on our stay during staffing shortages' etc. When we first drove up, no one was there to greet us as the valet shift ends in the late afternoon/early evening. We self parked which threw off the person in the garage who didn't know what to do with us. The rooms are very large and clean however one of our rooms had a sink in the middle and a disco light show in the shower - the design was strange. The TV had very limited channels especially for kids - supposedly that is going to be changed soon, if not already. They were supposedly following COVID safety protocols but the cleaning staff was in our room mask-less every time we came back to find them cleaning. Also the valet didn't mask when driving our car out of the garage. We complained and the front desk manager was amazingly accommodating and apologetic for that and a bunch of other snafus. Again, I think it had to do with staffing shortages (and lack of training for some that were there). If this was how they were normally, I would not stay here again especially for the prices they charge. There are better places. However, I would definitely try it again as I feel when properly staffed it would be an amazing hotel. Location is great.…
Nice hotel, location is OK, a bit far from the vibrant areas of the city. Staff is courteous and kind, but the price paid do not reflect the level of service recieved. Valet service and breakfast service are very slow.
The staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. They helped us find things, navigate, find transportation, and even coached us on the use of the metro. Alex provided a tour of the mansion portion of the facility and told us about the history. The location was excellent. We were able to walk to so many attractions and great restaurants. The room was luxurious and tech-forward. The tub/shower part of the bathroom had chromotherapy lighting, a rain shower fixture, and a big luxurious tub. The bathroom also had a Toto washlet. The lighting and window treatments were all automated.
We stayed at this hotel in mid June 2022 for vacation. It is a beautiful historic property with elegant rooms. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (esp. Michael Koopnann and Carla Vair). We were able to walk to the old town, McGill college, shops and Mount Royal.
In a single property, Le Mount Stephen encapsulates the best of old and new Montreal. Located in a majestic mansion, the bar and restaurant consist of ornate, wood carved rooms. The circular bar, in particular, is beautiful and staffed with superb mixologists. Step down a short corridor and enter the world of the ultra-modern. The lobby looks positively futuristic, which is excellent preparation for the room. We were fortunate to stay in the luxury loft terrace (#1003). It is quite simply one of the nicest rooms that we can recall. The bed is amazing; the solarium astounding; and the full terrace just enormously satisfying. But it’s the bathroom that will catch everyone’s attention. The Toto toilet and the rain shower (with mood lighting) feel like they’ve been transported from the future. And the bathtub, which sits outside of the bathroom – affording an amazing view of the skyline – easily accommodates two with room to spare. Finally, the front desk staff is marvelous – friendly, efficient and accommodating. The concierge team, in particular, is exemplary. I understand that the Four Seasons and Ritz-Carleton are also lovely, but when travel takes me to Montreal, I plan to return to Le Mount Stephen. I believe it to be the city’s best hotel.…
The room was spacious and well appointed. However, it is very irritating that literally everything in the room is controlled by having to programme a computer on the wall. What is wrong with light switches?? It is also a pain in the .... having to use a QR code on the TV to see the room service menu. The menu is is another problem. I have yet to stay in a major European or US hotel where there is not a normal breakfast menu: i.e. müsli or granola or similar, coffee, orange juice, boiled eggs. etc.etc. Here there is none and it required considerable effort to persuade the hotel to find such things.
the staff were friendly and courteous. the hotel was located perfectly in Montreal for a vacation. the overall stay was superb. the rooms were modern and clean. the bed was spectacular. the only disappointment was the gym was not open but we only stayed for one night.
Guest services were outstanding. Every need was addressed including help with having a tuxedo shirt cleaned at the last minute. Kudos to Alex who dropped off the item at a cleaners on his way to work and had it returned by noon on the same day. Le Mount Stephen is a lovely, modern hotel with a delightful, historically significant entry that contains the fabulous Bar George and on site restaurant. A somewhat striking contrast that adds a bit of pizazz to the experience. Highly recommended.
