Hotel Birks, housed in the historic Birks jewelry building, is an upscale boutique hotel in downtown Montreal on the edge of Philips Square. It is located along the major city artery.....Sainte Catherine Street which epitomizes the 'joie de vivre' culture of the Francophone population. The property is next to the Eaton Centre, Museum of Contemporary Art, Convention Centre as well as being in the neighbourhood of boutique shops, notable eateries and other dynamic venues including the haute Birks Flagship Jewelry Store whose wares can rub shoulders with Tiffany's NYC. Just the name Birks conjures up visions of gems, jewelry, gold, silver, pearls and other sugar plums....and Hotel Birks is a jewel of a hotel. And what a view it is.... as the hotel sports an exterior regalia that includes a curved facade, towering arched windows and ornate cornices. Inside is all dolled up with sparkling chandeliers, gold and silver detailing, sophisticated area separators and globe-shaped light fixtures that could be con-screwed as giant pearls. I was greeted by a flight of plush carpeted stairs sensuous enough to be the stairway to heaven, leading to the lobby, itself a plush area. The lobby of the hotel Birks is richly appointed with a gorgeous marble fireplace, tapestry fit for Aladdin's carpet, soft welcoming sofa's and chairs and columns topped with cherubs. I was graced with an ornate room with a private terrace overlooking the cityscape and a gas fireplace and a bear-paw pedestal bath.... a touch of class. My boudoir was adorned will the same quality of regal details as were displayed in the public areas of the hotel. An all encompassing king bed was accompanied by a white leather headboard with nailhead trim. Dark wood furniture included bureau's and a writing desk. The bath was above and beyond with accoutrements befitting a hotel of this caliber. On-site dining is handled Henri Brasserie Française. The cuisine is French inspired, heavy on the gourmet comfort food and prepared with mostly local Quebecois ingredients. The menu covers the food bases with seafood, poultry, salads, steak, plus the deluxe Henri Burger....delicious. The Valmont Spa is the hotel's signature health and well being facility with a full repertoire of rejuvenating treatments and its own line of beauty products. So, if you're in the mood for a serene experience in the posh surroundings of a luxury boutique hotel which embraces a chic brasserie, a wonderful spa, competent and friendly service and where you can pick up all the bling your wallet can survive....then try the........Hotel Birks.................a 24 Carat Hotel.

I did an extensive online search for a memorable hotel to stay as a gift for my son and his new bride ‘s wedding night. I finally choose Hotel Birks Montréal. I reserved the spectacular Grand Montréal Terrasse room. This corner room has a terrace with a beautiful Montréal view. Because of COVID, I wanted a terrace/ balcony. I was helped by Marie De Pimodan. She helped to make the stay so memorable. She suggested I choose rose petals, to be put in the room. I did. They couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the room was, the terrace, the rose petals and the tray of brownies, water and wine I ordered. Thank you to Marie for her expertise and unique suggestions. Regardless of the construction outside, the inside was perfect. I have travelled the world and will definitely book again at the Montréal Jewelery store /( founded 1879, Montréal, by Henry Birks and his three sons) Hotel in downtown.

I saw images of this hotel and thought how beautiful it was. Decided to splurge and indulge on a weekend in Montreal while visiting family and friends. I will say the photos of the hotel did not lie and the room was beautiful. The staff were amazing and accommodating. However noise is this hotels biggest issue. The first room they put me in had an adjoining door to another room. There were people on the phone in the other room and I could hear their entire conversation. Sounded like they were in my room. I called the front desk and they found me another room on the 3rd floor instead of the 4th. It was a bigger room with a tub. I was very happy for the move, but then the noise began. There was a busker on the street playing music with an amp from 4pm-11pm. It never ended and it was so loud, I may as well have been on the street. I understand the hotel cannot control that, but the fact is that the windows are paper thin. Then the noise in the hall began. Kids running up and down the hallway and a dog in the room next door barking every time anyone walked by. Again all sounded like they were in my room. The doors and windows were extremely thin. Knowing that I had three nights there, I called front desk, they acknowledged that they knew about both issues and offered me to move again. It is not my thing to complain but this is supposed to be a relaxing weekend in a nice hotel that was not cheap. They moved me to the 6th floor to a much bigger corner room. Beautiful. Fire place, two tvs, sofa, and tub. I was very happy with the service. But as the front desk clerk left the room, he mentioned that just below me are the units with terraces and to let him know if there is any noise.....uh oh. Well later in the day when I cam back to the hotel, a group of women were on the terrace popping champagne. I could hear them very loudly but I was going out for the night so didn't think too much about it. I went out and got back at 1am to a loud party. Again, right outside my paper thin window. I could hear every word they said, especially when they were screaming. I had to call front desk....again....and have them ask them to be quiet. That took two more calls. The next day I got back to my room around 9:30pm to new people on the terrace blaring music and having a great time. Sadly for me, my plan was to come back and take a bath and relax before heading home the next day. That noise went on and off until about 10:15. Next morning the terrace was back up at 8:15am with screaming children. If windows weren't so thin, it would not be an issue but when you are in bed being woken up by other people's children it is an issue. Overall beautiful hotel but clearly issues with noise.

Our stay at Hotel Birks epitomized 5 star experience. The service was excellent (from helping us navigate finding the valet parking through the construction to promptly responding to our questions, etc). We stayed in a deluxe room. It was spacious, with high ceilings and all the amenities you’d expect (robes, slippers, Nespresso, wine glasses & champagne flutes, rainfall shower, etc). The bed was heavenly. We’ll definitely be back!
