1. Room - 5/5. The room was spacious, classy and convenient. It was perfect. I liked the wood floor and the warm atmosphere in particular. The bed was so comfortable!!! 2. View - 5/5. I stayed on the river side. It was wonderful. It faces the east, so the morning was particularly bright and conducive to starting a new day....

The front desk staff is exceptional and the service is outstanding. This beautiful old hotel should be on everyone's to do list

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at Auberge du Vieux-Port. The hotel exceeds all desires and expectations. The hotel itself if very beautifully designed and furnished. Our room was extremely comfortable, quiet, spacious and offered the finest luxury linens we’ve ever seen in a hotel. The entire staff at the hotel were helpful, cheerful and courteous. The breakfast...

My husband and I booked a last minute stay online at a very reasonable rate for a queen room including breakfast over Easter weekend. This was my third stay at the Auberge and it didn't disappoint. For those looking for something central in Old Montreal - this property is perfect. We were greeted outside by the valet who offered us...

Someone at the hotel called the day before our stay and asked what time we expected to arrive. We arrived about 1PM as we had told them and our room was ready. This a building in the "old port" section of Montreal that has been beautifully restored. I think the location and the hotel and how attractive it was might...

The hotel and our rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean, authentic to the old town part of Montreal. It's located conveniently close to many sights and Rue Ste Catherine. We didn't enjoy our dinner in the hotel restaurant that much because the music was too loud to have a normal conversation, even though it was only 8pm. Other than that,...

We loved staying in this quaint, beautiful hotel in Montreal's Old City. We had a beautiful room looking out at the St Lawrence River. The room was very clean and had a very modern bathroom (great shower!) We had the complimentary breakfast each morning at the joining Gaspar's Restaurant which was delicious and very filling....no need for lunch! We also...

Fantastic little hotel in the port and old town area. We booked a room facing the water. What a beautiful view. The interior was a one side exposed brick wall, very cool and romantic. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The restaurant attached to the hotel (Gaspar Taverne) was fantastic ! The food was very good and not...

An amazing location. Amazing staff. Amazing rooms no matter which side you choose, although the first floor facing the port is my fave (choose the other side if you don't want to hear the train). I love everything about this place. If you stay here you must try the filet mignon downstairs at Gaspar! Sooooo gooood!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. ... more   less
