Stayed here for one night on business - the meeting I was attending was in the hotel. They are renovating the entire ground floor so it is UGLY. But I was greeted warmly by two young women on a cold Sunday night. Registration was accomplished quickly (I wanted to watch the Oscars) and I went up to my boring and...

Dear 'TravellingNurse50', Thank you for sharing your comments about your stay this week at the Novotel Montreal Centre. I understand that the renovations are not the easiest things to handle, fortunately, they are only taking place in the lobby area , and are not affecting the guest floors, guests rooms not the fitness room. Our upgrade should be finished in...

Currebtly undergoing foyer renovations but don't let that put you off staying. Front desk staff were lovely and helpful. We stayed 3 times in February and were able to leave luggage for our return. Rooms near the lifts can be a little noisy in the morning but are clean an well maintained. Location was the best point, short walk to...

I planned my trip for February last September and booked this hotel. I had tickets to attend a Montreal Canadiens game with my 73 year old father. We are both lifetime Habs fans and had never been to a game in Montreal so we were very excited to attend the game. Overall the stay at the hotel was average. The...

Always wanted to stay at a Novotel - sad to say it was very disappionting. The room was aged and not clean in the some places. The staff only surface clean the rooms and this is clear when you move anything. The in room $7.50 water is crazy but the stuff out of the tap was milky white and I...

Dear 'TravelGuy045", Thank you for sharing your comments about your recent stay at our property. I did some enquiry about the milky water : cloudy water, also known as white water, is caused by air bubbles in the water. It is completely harmless. It usually happens when it is very cold outside because the solubility of air in water increases...

Excellent value especially if you can get an early bird deal via accor or expedia to include the fantastic buffet breakfast. Comfortable rooms with bath tub and shower over and free coffee making facilities. Staff are exceptionally helpful and the position is perfect for downtown and the metro. The stop for the brilliant 747 bus service to and from the...

Stayed here over a weekend (in town for a hockey game). The location is ideal....no more than 5 min. walk to the rink. Wasn't impressed when our group booked rooms with 2 double beds & we were greeted with one bed + one foldout couch in each room. The lobby is a mess, but I suspect the value rooms will...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
