PROS: 1) LOCATION.. Right in the middle of the "Village" 2) On Subway stop 3) Very friendly and helpful staff 4) Breakfast CONS: 1) Beds are on the small size 2) Rooms are small This is a great 2 star hotel, with the service of a 4 star. The staff at this hotel are EXTREMELY accomodating and helpful. I have no complaints whatsoever with the service. They basically served my breakfast for me, carried my luggage up and down the flights of stairs, upgraded me to a jacuzzi tub room for free, etc. They were extremely attentive to every need/want. NO COMPLAINTS on the service end. The bed...

The Hotel Felix is in a Central location for the gay villiage. Parking is a good 15 minute walk and you need to be quick when unloading the car because it is no parking in front of the hotel. There is a stairway up to the hotel with no elevator. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the morning is...

My partner & I stayed in mid-September 2010. It was more like visiting a hospitable friend than a hotel. Jacques was a treasure trove of information, and even did a load of laundry for us. It's right across the street from Metro and a bike-rental stand. Wonderful atmosphere!

My Partner and I just spent 9 nights at the Hotel Felix. It was in the center of the Village and right accross from the Metro station. You could also rent bikes accross the street as well. The current owners acquired it two years ago and did a complete remodel. We loved it! We had a room that over looked...

The Hotel Felix was formerly known as the Auberge Cosy (a B&B) and appears to have changed hands awhile ago. The location is dead centre of the vibrant scene on Ste-Catherine East. It is not a hotel and really is a B&B, albeit a large one. If you are looking for anonymity or amenities of a full service hotel you...

This is a simple bed and breakfast but has more of a feel of a small budget hotel rather than a traditional B&B in a house. Located in the centre of all of the action in the gay village of Montreal, it is right on the main street (Ste-Catherine) and directly across from a subway station. It is easy to...

Eric and Eric were most helpful even though I speak limited French. The rooms, as another visitor noted, are small, but for the price one should not expect a grand suite! The stairs could cause problems, and one morning there was no hot water -- a situation which was remedied immediately. The continental breakfast was all we needed until lunch,...

I have stayed at the Auberge Cosy three different visits. The first 2 were great. The rooms are small, but clean and softly decorated. The common lounge is very comfortable and similarly nicely appointed. The bathroom facilities were kept clean continuously throughout the day, a testament to the hard work of the owners & staff. Location-wise, the Auberge Cosy is...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
