The Pros: Gorgeous, historic home on a beautiful street opposite the lovely little parc St. Louis. Convenient Plateau location, 3 min walk to Sherbrooke Metro station and an outdoor (summer) pedestrian mall, rue St. Denis around the corner. We had the small room with double bed - quite comfortable, (but too small for our liking, as we are used to...

We stayed at this unbelievable century old house with intricate woodwork and beautiful stained glass in August 2012. The house is located directly opposite Parc St Louis, a neighbourhood with character centrally in downtown Montreal. Breakfast was continental style with home made crossiants, fresh fruit and yoghurt and tea. Due to extreme cat allergies, Drew was very accommodating to ensure...

In May I had the chance to stay here for 5 nights. The old home has been lovingly restored and cared for by Drew and Maggy and is absolutely charming. Breakfasts served in the dining room are such a treat and a great start to a day of exploring Montreal on foot or bike.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our house dates back to 1880 and it was the home of the Saint Louis family. Mr. St. Louis and his associates oversaw the construction of the houses on the Square. We are conveniently located in the 'Plateau' district (between St-Denis and Boulevard St-Laurent), from where you will find a multitude of points of interest on foot: Old Montreal and the Old Port; the mountain and its Mount Royal park; the Jazz Festival, the Just for Laughs festival and the Nuits d'Afrique festival; a variety of museums; McGill University and the University of Quebec at Montreal; as well as many of the best restaurants in the city. The bus and metro (Sherbrooke station) are within walking distance by the park. As an alternative, you may bring or rent a bicycle. Car parking is free in front of the house.Enjoy a good breakfast in our authentically Victorian dining room. Our rooms all have hardwood floors, Persian carpets and views of our garden or the park just in front. You will enjoy comfortable beds and hospitality on a personal and small-scale basis: we are neither a commercial style "hostel" nor a hotel. Murphy and Oswald are here to greet cat lovers. Gardening and cycling enthusiasts will enjoy staying with us. ... more   less
