Summertime in Montreal - overbooked hotels with high prices. This is when you start looking for a budget hotel. But the trick is finding a budget hotel that is also clean. The common area and the room were both clean. The bathroom was a newer renovation and the bed was comfortable. The hotel does not have a 24 hour desk,...

We booked this hotel shortly before our trip via hotels.com The service was great; we needed a print out for the Formula 1 and could do this ourselves at front desk. WiFi was also perfect: 4 codes per room = 4 devices. Extra night costed us only 50$

Be very careful. Those running this hotel are rude and never around to serve you. The breakfast includes a bin of stale croissants and peanut butter, and the mugs are dirty. They overcharge your bill and the total tax is not 18.47% (3.5% city tax) it is actually over 22%! This is a crime. You will be charged more than...

I am an architect and I came in for the annual conference in Montreal. I pre-paid the 3-nights stay two weeks in advance. I arrived late at night just before midnight. The hotel door was closed. I tried to ring the door bell, knock on the door and finally call their reception - no response. I ended up sleeping in...

Originally, I booked their sister property called Hotel Stay Saint Denis, but when I arrived I found out that my reservation was changed to Centre Ville while I was on the flight. Having arrived at the Centre Ville, I was told that instead of the studio with a kitchenette I was getting a small room. Trying to see the manager...

It was nice to find a two-bedroom apartment in downtown Montreal for less than $100 total/night, so my friend and I can snore loudly without waking each other up! Another friend slept in the sofa in the living room. Street parking in front of the apartment was free from ~9 p.m. to 9 a.m. There was a full kitchen with...

The hotel is more like a hostel. Our room's bathroom was not cleaned (there were hair on the floor when we arrived). The rooms also do not have a thermostat so the temperature is whatever the hotel managements sets it to be. Our room was ridiculously hot and we had to open windows, which is not a great thing to...

We arrived slightly before the check-in deadline (which was stated as midnight on our booking) and... the hotel was closed. No answer to the bell. No answer to phone calls. Reception lights switched off. So we were screwed, in the middle of the night, -10, with snow and our suitcases. Luckylly, we had familly in Montreal. We came back the...

I can honestly say I was pretty happy with my stay at this hotel. I was staying 2 extra days for vacation after working 10 days in the city, and I wanted a hotel near the Latin Quarter. For $35/night, Hotel Stay fit the bill. When I walked in, I met the owner and had a nice chat with him...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
