We stayed for two nights during the week. Everything was as advertised. The front desk staff were helpful and courteous, Our daughter was allowed to check in before we arrived so she met us in the room. Our room was clean and quiet. There was a mini fridge and coffee maker. The wall soap dispensers were empty but that may have been a Covid measure. Liquid soap was provided in small containers. Housekeeping staff did not enter the room to clean, as was mentioned in the Covid-19 policy, but clean towels and more soap were available upon request. We walked to downtown Montreal with a city map provided at the front desk. There were, however, no newspapers in the lobby as promised. The hotel is close to shopping and dining. All in all, a pleasant stay, thank you.

I have stayed at the Ruby Foos many times over the years. There's no question that the pandemic has taken its toll, but the Ruby Foos is still a great place to stay, and I'll definitely be back. My room was large and very comfortable. The bed and bed linens provided an excellent night's sleep. There's plenty of storage space and the bathroom is a good size. Everything was fresh and clean. I wish they would stop providing gel soap, which runs back into the tube before you have a chance to use it. And they need to collect garbage daily - the tiny wastebasket fills up quickly and you'll be piling garbage on the floor.

The hallways and common areas are beautiful, as usual, and the restaurants are delicious and served by smiling, friendly waiters.

The pandemic makes its appearance in small stains here and there, and nicks in the furniture, that would be promptly attended to in better times. The air conditioning in my room was noisy, and the desk lamp needs to be replaced - leave it at that. These are things that pre-pandemic staffing levels would quickly look after.

What hasn't changed is the courteous and helpful way I was treated. Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant and glad to help.

The 'grand dame' of Decarie Boulevard still reigns, and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

We stayed at this hotel because a friend said it was less expensive than a hotel downtown and it was within a couple blocks of the Metro. This hotel is on par with say a Comfort inn or Days Inn type hotel. It appears to offer some meeting rooms and it has a nice pool by appearances.
It is not in a very good neighborhood. A large highway is in front of it bordered by frontage roads. I suppose by comparison it is a fair amount less than downtown but am not sure it is worth it's going rate.
It's hallways offer a cavernous setting as we had kids screaming and running around and adults talking loudly at 10:30pm. After he had received a few complaints, ours being the last, the manager came up in a bit and got the crowd of apparently put out parents to agree to take their party downstairs.
The maid service is good but stingy on the towel replacements.

It offers a cafe type restaurant that was a bit harried when we went. It also offers a "fine dining" restaurant, self described by the hostess. This seems like a bit of a stretch since it didn't offer tablecloths or pepper with an off the shelf container of salt. That said I did have a good greek salad there. It came with a block of feta cheese on top. A bit unusual but it was good.

After reading a few bad reviews, we were not sure about this place and we even brought our own towels and toiletries just in case. But the room was clean, we had enough clean towels for two and there was shampoo and soaps and more in the bathroom! We loved the terry-cloth bath robes. I particularly liked the Asian inspired sliding wooden window covering which blocks the light from outside. The price was very reasonable considering the location and unlike some other hotels these days, Ruby Foo's didn't charge us a "Covid Sanitation Fee". We'll be back next time we are in Montreal.

We are here for four days and are having a great stay! Very clean and Covid friendly. Everyone is wearing masks. No body makes our room , during Covid , but you can change towels and have what you need off the cart , such things as shampoo or soap. No one comes to your room . Staff very helpful and friendly..free parking ... good location as you are right on the Décarie expressway and can go everywhere from here. Would highly recommend.

Upon arrival in the room there was a used wet washcloth hanging from the shower curtain. There was a used washcloth hidden behind the dresser in room 163. We didn't touch it so it's probably still there as we speak. The room carpet smelled musty and like feet upon arrival as well. My wife found a long blonde hair on one of the supposedly clean new pillows. None of our family members have blonde hair nor did the Filipino housekeeper who was cleaning the rooms on our floor. Around 7:30pm we needed a couple of extra bath towels but the front desk person advised he was the only employee available and could not leave the desk to get the towels. Before we booked this hotel my wife called to see what the pool policy was considering the weather forecasted was for rain. The female staff member ensured that the pool.is open as long as there was no thunder/lightning. We got to use the outdoor pool the first day we were there but it was murky and very dirty with debris floating around in it. On August 4th it was raining but there was no thunder/lightning but the hotel staff did not open the pool. Very disappointing. I cant believe this hotel got 4 stars.

My husband and I spent one week at Ruby Foos, Sept 21-28th. It is very well located and has a comfortable bed, but that is all. The hotel policy is that they do not clean until you check out. I knew that in advance but think that some other routines can make this inconvenience simpler. For example, if you want more towels, you go down and ask for them. They tell you to leave your pile of wet, dirty towels in the hall. And there the multi piles sit, often for days. I would like to recommend a pack of plastic or garbage bags for each room to use when they want to dispose of wet towels. Also, if you're not going to replace my coffee cups daily, then I suggest a small dishsoap for each room. I only got one glass and when asked for a second was told there were no more glasses. One week without cleaning is ridiculous. Luckily a vacuum cleaner sat in the hall for two days, so I used it one night at 10:30 pm. Also, a tray with leftover food was on the floor in the hall until I complained after 3 days. Will not stay here again.

Given a dirty room for a two night stay in the pandemic and no towels. The “manager” never got back to us when we called (twice) so we ended up going downstairs ourselves. He offered no proper resolution, concern or consideration for jeopardizing our health and safety when our walls and ceilings looked like someone was thrown Coke all over them and was dripping. We showed him photos and videos. He literally said the room required a deep clean which they didn’t and COULDN’T provide at this time. He apparently couldn’t move us either because they were “fully booked” and made up excuses as to why we were given the room in the first place. The “best” he could do was provide a full refund or move us tomorrow, and was perfectly fine for charging us full price for the night and leaving us in the room. Not to mention we asked if management was in, and he said they weren’t. Later on clarified he was the “manager”. What a joke.

He then sent someone up to literally WIPE the walls and ceiling... with towels. The next day we followed up on the offer to switch. This other worker indicated there was no note left to indicate this change. Luckily he overheard our conversation with this “manager” the day prior and moved us anyways. The “only room available” was 2 queen rather than a king. LOL. Terrible service and no hospitality offered. Rude and inconsiderate staff that don’t care about you. Don’t come here.

P.S if you zoom into the photos you can see this dark liquid.

A really sad decline...this used to be the best value/convenience in the city, especially for road trips; right off A40, 20 minutes to downtown on the Metro with a lot of restaurants/services around if you're just staying in. Some elements are a bit 80s, but it's part of the charm.

On our recent 3 day stay our first room was dirty, so another with a different set of beds was provided; this took 20 minutes with nobody else in line, until the person at the counter started helping someone else instead of dealing with us!

The computer chair was broken with the replacement offered even more dirty and broken, service at first refused to provide clean mugs (?!) and had to be asked a few times to provide soap. Hallways were dirty.

Staff cited COVID protocols sometimes, but seemed as disappointed with how things were going as we were, and general cleanliness would seem to be more of a priority because of COVID.

What happened?

We stayed as the price was excellent and it was close to family. Not a lot of hotels in the west end. Reading some reviews, I was expecting a dirty room & surly staff. Check in was a bit tiresome as there was a long line as the lone front desk clerk dealt with a guest complaint. After 15 minutes, another employee came & we were quickly checked in. There was a $200 security deposit though. It was reversed upon checkout.

Our room was lovely. Quiet & clean! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom products excellent. All pandemic protocols were followed. No daily cleaning but if you need clean sheets or towels, you just requested them from the front desk. There was hand sanitizer and disinfectant cloths near the elevators and in all public areas. Again, the hotel is obliged to follow these protocols during this pandemic, We will stay here again! Too bad pets aren’t allowed as our parrot would love it...
