The hotel is located in prime downtown-excellent location! We were here for 4 -5 days in 2019. It's a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway (get the 18$ pass if you are a visitor!), with couple of stores nearby. The people at the reception are polite and friendly. The room was alright - had a kitchenette, closet, bed, The first thing I observed after checking in though, was that the rooms were dark and did not appear to be very clean for a 150$ per night standard room with king bed. We didn't bother much as we anyway planned to spend most of the time being outdoors exploring places and only returned to take rest late in the night. For us, the TV being right beside the bed was a little weird as we had to strain our necks to watch it after a tiring day.

Not worth the price, room was a flashback to the 80’s. Bright blue bathroom tiles, only one person can fit in it at once. My husband wanted to brush his teeth while I was blow drying my hair and he couldn’t . There was a large pillar smack dab in the middle of the room right beside the bed. The A/C was so loud I couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t necessarily dirty but because it was so old it felt dirty. I wouldn’t stay here again even if it was half price. The charging port on the radio didn’t work and neither did the in room telephone ! We had to use our own phone to call front desk.

Overall this hotel was a good value for the money. The location was an easy walk to St. Catherine Street and great shopping. We also easily walked to the Canadians rink and to Old Montreal. We had two rooms at this hotel. One was great (one of the suites across from the restaurant) with a super comfortable bed, but the other room smelled like a nursing home (5th floor same bldg). We put the kids in the stinky room. Loved the Nespresso machine in the room and that we had a fridge. The breakfast wasn't worth the money. It was a typical fare like you would find at any low budget hotel. The "spa" wasn't a spa like you find in the states; it was more of a wellness center. However, I highly recommend getting a massage there. We both got massages from Kevin and he was AWESOME!! The front desk staff were also excellent. A standout staff person was Nohora who was the first one to greet us and provided excellent customer service throughout. She remembered us and always asked how our stay was going when we walked by. Again, for the money, it is a great option.

I came for a medical training in September 2022.

- Bad customer service. Dubious practice on room rates.
When I first booked in June, I was told I could book with a preferential rate from the training organiser. It turned out the preferential rate was more expensive than booking at the hotel directly (you get 15% discount if you stay more than 3 nights). I called the hotel, and the lady in charge said they couldn’t do anything, she wouldn’t apply the 15% discount on top of the conference preferential rate. That seemed fair to me, as I understand hotels lost a lot of business during the pandemic and tried to balance the finances. At that time I booked a room with 2 queen beds but I wasn’t sure if my husband and son would join, so I declared it would be for 1 adult only. In September, I contacted the hotel and asked to update the room occupancy to 2 adults and 1 child. THEY CHANGED the room rate and rose the price (instead of less than $1000 for 4 nights, it went to $1300!). When I asked why, they said bc I changed the booking, so they update to the new rate at the time of the change. It is still exactly the same room! I don’t mind paying more in taxes bc more people stay in the same room, but changing the rate, when they knew I was part of the conference and wouldn’t change hotel, was a bit lame… I called the same conference lady and asked if I could revert back to the conference rate. She said no, bc the conference rate has expired and she wouldn’t give it as a commercial gesture because she gets commissions on the bookings… what a bad customer service!
Not sure if it was done on purpose, the room I got was a room just outside the elevator, so noisy…
And we checked in, the 2 people in front of us complained very loudly about the hotel…

- Room not clean and missing toiletries
The beds and pillows were comfortable. They didn’t have a duvet cover, but 2 flat sheets… the duvets and the pillows were yellow from stains.
The bedside tables were dusty.
Carpets dirty (not the same colour, although the same patterns, as the ones in the corridors).
In the bathroom, there were only soap bars, no shampoo or conditioners. I only got them because one morning, I saw a cleaning lady in the corridors and asked if she had any shampoos etc. To my surprise, she did and gave them to me.

- Conference rooms neglected
We had tea/coffees and pastries in the morning of the first day… but they were not refilled after lunch or the days after… unless we asked. And even after asking, we wouldn’t get hot water for tea…
The toilets near the conference rooms either had missing hand soap or missing paper towels to dry your hands….

I get it that the hotel wanted to save money after being under occupied during the pandemic… but for a 4 star hotel, I expected better and better customer service.

The hotel is well located, in the city centre… but I won’t be back if I have to come to another conference in Montréal.

Dear guest I know perfectly who you are given that I had received a report from the sales department and above all I would like to inform you that we respect the opinion of our customers to the highest degree, but in this case for the benefit of trip advisor readers. I will explain the situation first you contacted the sales department who confirmed a special price for the group which you refused because you insisted on booking online despite the sales department strongly advising you not to book online because the group rate is valid for one period only secondly you have booked online and three days before the arrival date you have added one more person in the room changing the price thirdly, you contacted us two days before the arrival date to obtain the group price which was no longer available and you had once again refused to cancel the reservation online to make a short story The organizer of the event Mrs. Julie Ka shared with us her disagreement on all your criticisms and confirms to me that all rooms meeting rooms service etc.. were worthy of a 4 star hotel and that everyone was satisfied I strongly believe that you were totally unfair in your comments to our hotel and that your comments unfortunately are part of a kind of revenge because of the price of your room my only question why the entire group was very satisfied and you have allowed yourself such comments benjamin Magazzinich General manager

Stayed at this hotel for the first time. Parking under construction but found a spot easily. We were greeted by the manager Paolo. He was funny and informed and made us feel at home rite away. This is an attribute seriously lacking in many other hotels we stayed at. We will return there because of that!!!

Me and my fiancée stayed at Le Nouvel hotel for a long weekend, I had bought him Montreal Canadiens tickets for Christmas. I was honestly a bit worried because I had read some horrible reviews but they’re wrong! The area is near a bunch of main attractions (and is only a cheap Uber drive away).
It was easy to get to the hotel from the train station and the woman at the front desk was super friendly and quick with our check in.
The room was spacious and clean. There was a thermostat that worked beautifully. The entire hotel was actually very clean and well designed.
We went to the restaurant downstairs for a dinner and the service was very well given to us. It became a bit slow but only because there was a group of obnoxious people at the bar playing their music way too loudly and just being plain annoying and taking up the waitresses time. The food was fantastic and hot when it came to the table. Fantastic service all around.
Check out was quick and because I paid with debit my deposit was directly re-deposited into my account. Thank you so much Le Nouvel Hotel!! We will defiantly be back!

The hotel is supposedly moderately priced. It has a noisy street at the front and construction at the back. There is no room service--they do not even clean the room or change towels. This morning I wanted to replenish the coffee and the front desk did not have sugar or creamer.

A ripoff.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Falsely advertises itself as a 4 star hotel on booking sites and charges exorbitant rates when it's 2 or 3 star max. I had to book this place because nothing else was available and I got absolutely ripped off.

Rooms are dated and smelly. The dining room looks like a subterranean 80's cafeteria. Lobby sofas are completely covered in mystery stains. Elevator has a bent door that screeches every time it opens. Front desk staff is useless.

There was no bottled water in the room so I went to ask for it at the front desk, they refer me to a 30 year old vending machine that only takes coins. I ask for change. Sorry they don't keep change. But I saw them hand out a bottle of water to another grumpy guest while I was checking in earlier. Dude where's my bottle of water? That reference is incidentally from the last year this place was thoroughly cleaned.

Website guaranteed check-in at 3, we go there at 3:00 and they didn’t check us in until 3:30. When I asked them about the “guarantee” they said it should say “usually” with attitude. At that moment I knew I was NEVER going to lodge with them again. Then, the washroom in our room; it looked clean at first glance but when I got in the shower there were pubic hairs on the provided body wash bottles, which means they never replaced the toiletries (GROSS), hairs at the corners of the shower and on the wall. We didn’t bother complain because they have attitude, instead we sprayed the whole shower with Lysol (we always bring a full can with us anytime we travel and alcohol wipes) and washed down the shower. This was a last minute trip and staying only one night. Otherwise, if it was multiple nights - it would’ve been a nightmare!

Dear Guest Dear Customer We thank you for sharing your opinion concerning your stay with us and we are sorry that we did not reach your requirements. But let me inform you that in our website we do not guarantee the room at 3pm: it is listed from 3pmk until 3.am but most of the time we have rooms available around 3pm and earlier , and I would ask you to take into consideration that sometimes guests leave the room later regarding cleanliness we are recognized for having an indisputable cleanliness, and I wonder how hair could be on lotion bottles which are installed on the wall at a height of about 5 feet beyond these comments we respect your opinion but not believing that the fact that you had a room half an hour after 3pm gives you the privilege of damaging the reputation of a hotel benjamin magazzinich general manager
