Le Nouvel Hotel has garnered attention for its spacious and spotless rooms, complete with modern conveniences, although opinions vary on the upkeep and style of the decor. The central location is a highlight, with guests enjoying easy access to Montreal's offerings. Service is typically praised for attentiveness, but some guests have encountered lapses. While the amenities contribute positively to the stay, there are suggestions for updates. The value proposition is debated, as some find the pricing reasonable, except for certain aspects like parking and breakfast.

Nice people, but no help with luggage (there is a cart). No information in the room about anything. Restaurant/bar is hardly there--on a Saturday night several menu items were not available; there was no red wine and only one bottle of white, but when you get in late and are tired at least there was something to eat. No market around it; some small restaurants not too far. Washer and dryer take coins. Would be very helpful if there were a couple of plates/knives/forks/spoons in the room; there is a microwave, mini-frig, and capsule coffee maker, but for take-out/left over food you frequently need a plate and utensils.

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words about our team, and we’re sorry to hear that certain aspects of your stay didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how important it is to have luggage assistance after a long journey, and while we do provide carts for guest use, we’ll certainly look into ways to improve this process for greater convenience. Your comments about the in-room information and dining experience have been noted as well. We're currently working on expanding our restaurant’s offerings to ensure a more consistent availability of menu items, especially during busy times like the weekend. As for the in-room amenities, your suggestion regarding plates and utensils is an excellent one. We’ll explore the possibility of adding these items to better serve guests who may bring back takeout or store leftovers. Thank you again for your valuable input, and we hope to welcome you back in the future for an even more enjoyable stay. Benjamin MAgazzinich Geneal Manager Le Nouvel Hotel Montreal downtown

First, let me say that our room was very nice. We had an admiral loft. The room was big and clean. A little outdated but nice. The bed was comfortables. There was a stocked kitchenette, a washer/dryer and a jacuzzi tub in the room. Now, the issues. The place needs to updated all around. The lobby is trying have a boutique hotel feeling but isn’t quite making it. The actual restaurant is closed except for breakfast but they cook burgers, frozen french fries and frozen chicken wings on the patio and call it a restaurant. The bar consisted of some bottles of liquor set up on a bookshelf and some beer and sodas on ice. The bartender was waiting the tables on the patio so we had wait a long time to order. There is no bar seating so you either sit on the patio or on a couch in the lobby. The pool area was not appealing or inviting.
The location was fine. There are restaurants, bars and shops about 2 blocks away. We felt safe walking the area. To get to the hop on, hop off bus is about a 20 minute walk. Old Montreal is about a 35-40 minute walk. We used Uber to get around when we were tired of walking.

The room is clean and the bed comfortable. The welcome is warm, pleasant and smiling. Parking is free. The Inn is well placed 5/10 minutes from the metro and there is Saint Catherine Street very close by on foot to find food. I recommend this Pension, I found it Good Value Award.

I booked this hotel because of all the good reviews and I was not disappointed. Initially my daughter did not want me to book the hotel as she thought the rooms looked outdated, however she was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found the hotel to be a "million times better than what she had expected". Check in was easy and friendly. Our room was clean and spacious and very quiet, unlike many hotels we have stayed in we did not hear noise from either side of us or above. we opted for breakfast and found this excellent value for money, well worth what we paid. Also the dining room was quiet and the staff were always polite and pleasant. The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood and as two women travelling together we felt very safe at this hotel and the surrounding area. The hotel is in a good location, easy to get to from the airport on the 747 bus. We brought a 3 day travel card that enabled us to use the buses and underground system to get to all the main attractions, although we did walk down to the river front, which took us about 35 minutes. I would 100% recommend this hotel as I felt it offered really good value for money.

The front desk staff was helpful and efficient but the quality of the overall hotel was poor. Our room was not serviced by the cleaning staff for the entire 4 night stay we were there in spite of having the 'Please make up the room' tag on the door for hours while we were out during the day. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast - the food offerings were poor and even the basics like hot water for tea, fruit, yogurt were in no/low supply. The location was excellent and easy access to old montreal as well as Mont Royal and McGill but the hotel itself was outdated, not staffed well and a high nightly rate for what was provided

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our services. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the housekeeping service during your stay. Upon reviewing your situation, it appears that on the first day, our staff was informed by you that service was not needed. On the second day, the "Please Make Up the Room" sign was indeed displayed; however, when our housekeeping team arrived, the "Do Not Disturb" sign had been placed on the door, which prevented us from servicing your room. On the third day, the "Do Not Disturb" sign was again present. We understand this may have caused confusion, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused during your stay. Regarding the breakfast offerings, we are disappointed to hear that they did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide a variety of fresh and well-stocked options, and we will address this issue with our team to ensure we can better serve our guests in the future. We are glad to hear that you found our location convenient and our front desk staff helpful. However, we regret that the overall experience did not meet your expectations, and we apologize for any shortcomings in our service and facilities. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide a much-improved experience. I came for a medical training in September 2022.

- Bad customer service. Dubious practice on room rates.
When I first booked in June, I was told I could book with a preferential rate from the training organiser. It turned out the preferential rate was more expensive than booking at the hotel directly (you get 15% discount if you stay more than 3 nights). I called the hotel, and the lady in charge said they couldn’t do anything, she wouldn’t apply the 15% discount on top of the conference preferential rate. That seemed fair to me, as I understand hotels lost a lot of business during the pandemic and tried to balance the finances. At that time I booked a room with 2 queen beds but I wasn’t sure if my husband and son would join, so I declared it would be for 1 adult only. In September, I contacted the hotel and asked to update the room occupancy to 2 adults and 1 child. THEY CHANGED the room rate and rose the price (instead of less than $1000 for 4 nights, it went to $1300!). When I asked why, they said bc I changed the booking, so they update to the new rate at the time of the change. It is still exactly the same room! I don’t mind paying more in taxes bc more people stay in the same room, but changing the rate, when they knew I was part of the conference and wouldn’t change hotel, was a bit lame… I called the same conference lady and asked if I could revert back to the conference rate. She said no, bc the conference rate has expired and she wouldn’t give it as a commercial gesture because she gets commissions on the bookings… what a bad customer service!
Not sure if it was done on purpose, the room I got was a room just outside the elevator, so noisy…
And we checked in, the 2 people in front of us complained very loudly about the hotel…

- Room not clean and missing toiletries
The beds and pillows were comfortable. They didn’t have a duvet cover, but 2 flat sheets… the duvets and the pillows were yellow from stains.
The bedside tables were dusty.
Carpets dirty (not the same colour, although the same patterns, as the ones in the corridors).
In the bathroom, there were only soap bars, no shampoo or conditioners. I only got them because one morning, I saw a cleaning lady in the corridors and asked if she had any shampoos etc. To my surprise, she did and gave them to me.

- Conference rooms neglected
We had tea/coffees and pastries in the morning of the first day… but they were not refilled after lunch or the days after… unless we asked. And even after asking, we wouldn’t get hot water for tea…
The toilets near the conference rooms either had missing hand soap or missing paper towels to dry your hands….

I get it that the hotel wanted to save money after being under occupied during the pandemic… but for a 4 star hotel, I expected better and better customer service.

The hotel is well located, in the city centre… but I won’t be back if I have to come to another conference in Montréal.

Dear guest I know perfectly who you are given that I had received a report from the sales department and above all I would like to inform you that we respect the opinion of our customers to the highest degree, but in this case for the benefit of trip advisor readers. I will explain the situation first you contacted the sales department who confirmed a special price for the group which you refused because you insisted on booking online despite the sales department strongly advising you not to book online because the group rate is valid for one period only secondly you have booked online and three days before the arrival date you have added one more person in the room changing the price thirdly, you contacted us two days before the arrival date to obtain the group price which was no longer available and you had once again refused to cancel the reservation online to make a short story The organizer of the event Mrs. Julie Ka shared with us her disagreement on all your criticisms and confirms to me that all rooms meeting rooms service etc.. were worthy of a 4 star hotel and that everyone was satisfied I strongly believe that you were totally unfair in your comments to our hotel and that your comments unfortunately are part of a kind of revenge because of the price of your room my only question why the entire group was very satisfied and you have allowed yourself such comments benjamin Magazzinich General manager

Although the hotel served it's purpose, the room itself was lacking amenities and felt very much out of date. For example, the room was booked for 4 adults, but there was only one coffee cup and two drinking glasses provided. There was also only two robes. There was no alarm clock in the room, and there were no hooks for the bathroom towels in order to keep them separate after showering (we had to hang them over our suitcases to dry).

There are also improvements/maintenance issues that should be done to the room. For example, the air conditioning was either full blast (and freezing cold) or had to be turned off. The lock on the bathroom door did not line up with the latch and therefore often had to be left unlocked and the door itself looked like it may fall off the track on the wall very soon. The remote for the TV also needed batteries, and the fridge did not keep our food and drinks cold.

Finally, the most disappointing part was that there was no information on the website/in our booking that the pool was not yet open for the season. We were staying in the month of June with 30 degree and sunny weather every day. We were extremely disappointed to learn that the pool was closed on our arrival, as this was one of the reasons we booked it.

All in all, our expectations of the hotel were not met, but we were just glad we had a place to stay given it was a very busy week in Montreal. The luggage storage was helpful, and we at least enjoyed sitting out on the terrace. It was also nice that the TV was equipped with chrome-cast.

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the shortcomings you experienced during your stay. Your comments are invaluable in helping us improve our services and facilities. We are sorry to hear that the room amenities did not meet your expectations, especially given the number of guests. We will ensure that all rooms booked for multiple guests are appropriately stocked with necessary items such as coffee cups, drinking glasses, and robes. Additionally, we will review the room amenities to include essentials like alarm clocks and sufficient towel hooks to enhance comfort. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the maintenance issues you encountered. Please rest assured that we are addressing the problems with the air conditioning, bathroom door lock, TV remote, and refrigerator. Our maintenance team will inspect and resolve these issues promptly to ensure they do not affect future guests. Regarding the pool closure, we deeply regret the lack of communication on our website and booking platforms. We understand how disappointing it must have been to find out upon arrival. We will update our information to provide guests with accurate and timely details about our facilities. We are glad to hear that you found some aspects of your stay enjoyable, such as the luggage storage, terrace, and the chrome-cast equipped TV. Your feedback is crucial for us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to provide a better experience. Website guaranteed check-in at 3, we go there at 3:00 and they didn’t check us in until 3:30. When I asked them about the “guarantee” they said it should say “usually” with attitude. At that moment I knew I was NEVER going to lodge with them again. Then, the washroom in our room; it looked clean at first glance but when I got in the shower there were pubic hairs on the provided body wash bottles, which means they never replaced the toiletries (GROSS), hairs at the corners of the shower and on the wall. We didn’t bother complain because they have attitude, instead we sprayed the whole shower with Lysol (we always bring a full can with us anytime we travel and alcohol wipes) and washed down the shower. This was a last minute trip and staying only one night. Otherwise, if it was multiple nights - it would’ve been a nightmare!

Dear Guest Dear Customer We thank you for sharing your opinion concerning your stay with us and we are sorry that we did not reach your requirements. But let me inform you that in our website we do not guarantee the room at 3pm: it is listed from 3pmk until 3.am but most of the time we have rooms available around 3pm and earlier , and I would ask you to take into consideration that sometimes guests leave the room later regarding cleanliness we are recognized for having an indisputable cleanliness, and I wonder how hair could be on lotion bottles which are installed on the wall at a height of about 5 feet beyond these comments we respect your opinion but not believing that the fact that you had a room half an hour after 3pm gives you the privilege of damaging the reputation of a hotel benjamin magazzinich general manager

My wife and I were in Montreal watching a hockey game. So we booked a room at the Nouvel Hotel for one night. We were served at the reception by Jules-Aimé who was very kind and accommodating. We asked him if there were bottles of water in the room, he handed us 2 bottles at the reception and asked us to call the reception if we still needed them. He directed us to the elevators and gave us his card if we ever need any more information later. The room is clean and very spacious. 10 minutes later Jules-Aimé called us to make sure we were settled in our room. We felt good at home. We took the opportunity to ask him if we could have a late check-out and he granted us a late check-out of an hour graciously. We'll be back to see you by this summer.
