I almost do not want to write this review! But that would be so unfair to the people who work at this hotel who deserve the recognition and praise! My son (13 years old) and I came here last year for winter break and had such a wonderful time we decided to come back again this year as we both needed some R&R. We mostly came for the outdoor heated pool, but we fell in love with the service of the people who work there!

First of all, the hotel is beautiful. Once you go inside, you feel transported to a some other place - certainly not a city. The front desk staff are all very friendly and helpful. We communicated most often with Jennifer who helped us select and reserve a nice dinner spot and often gave us directions to different local and new eateries. The lobby area is full of great seats and couches to either sit alone and read or sit in a group and enjoy great conversation.

From the lobby you have a view of the heated outdoor pool. With lights on the trees and steam from the water, it looks tropical! However, in February, in Canada, it’s quite cold! Your body will stay warm in the water - and your hair might freeze, but it’s still fun. Added to the pool area this year is a large jacuzzi and a sauna. Plenty of choices for warming up!

We opted for the executive lounge breakfast. The breakfast has 3 hot options each day. Usually eggs, some sort of meat (bacon, sausage, etc), and some sort of potato. There is always a great assortment of fresh bread, pastries, homemade jams, Nutella, and a fruit bar with yogurt and cereal. It’s a very basic breakfast. What makes it great is you get to start your day off with Guy! He is amazing. You can hear him laughing or singing from the lobby! He is so disarming and welcoming you feel like you have come to his house and are dining with him. He will clear your plates right away, get you coffee, introduce people who might have commonalities, or leave you alone if that is what you desire. He’s a wealth of information and suggestions.

The room was a basic 2 bed. It said they were queen size beds, but they looked a little more like full size. The room was huge. Lots of space. The decor was dark and that made the room seem dark too. They are in the process of upgrading the rooms, which I presume will give more lighting. The water pressure in the showers is GREAT!

There were many people staying at the hotel for conferences and a musical concert. It was busy, but we never noticed loud noise in the hallway - and our room was right next to the elevators. It was super easy to go from the hotel to the underground system, or walk the streets. The location is great. Jennifer at front desk was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Mauricio at the pool was great in giving advice and conversing in many languages.

The heated pool is great, but the people who work here are really what sends it to 5 stars!

It's worth reading a bit about the history and design of the hotel before visiting. That would have helped me be more ready and appreciative of the unusual and interesting layout of the hotel. Once up the elevator to the top floor lobby, there's a lot to look at and explore even before getting to the reception desk for check in. The gentleman was very efficient and helpful getting us our rooms and giving information about the location of amenities. Everything is laid out around a central courtyard with walkways radiating out to the room levels which circle the courtyard. It is rather confusing and disjointed with various steps / ramps and levels, but not surprising given the time it was designed. The rooms are well updated, maintained, and clean. We enjoyed the bar area for late night beverages and great pizza. It was a really good stay for a quick layover on the train since the station is right across the street.

Ideal location to train station, walking distance to Bell Centre & local attractions, or tour bus guided tours, various off site restaurants, but why eat elsewhere with such great service & food/bar, absolutely beautiful swimming pool, year round, it was busy all day long, good value for a 5 star hotel. Staff were very friendly, helpful, rooms met all our needs. Will recommend to our friends/family travelling to Montreal for sure!

If you are arriving by train and want a 3 minute walk to your hotel consider Hotel Bonaventure. Situated 10 stories above the street, the clean, spacious hotel rooms face peaceful garden spaces, easy access to the rooftop pool and all hotel services. A quick trip down the elevator, out the hotel doors, a jog across Mansfield to Atrium 1000 for all year indoor ice skating, fresh bagels, coffee, or walk toward the Cathedral Marie Reine du Monde. Montreal's churches are architecturally significant. Many are within 5 to 15 minutes walking distance form Hotel Bonaventure's rooftop perch.

This place is good IF you are there for a convention in the building, meeting, or an event at the Bell Centre (can get to it without going outside.
BUT we regret choosing the hotel as we were there to experience Montreal. We checked out a day early for a hotel in Old Town that felt more like a destination hotel. I regret we stayed here two nights but it was two late to cancel when we checked in.

We didn’t know this hotel was actually the top two floors perched on top of the old convention center. If we had, we would not have reserved it. That alone makes access difficult and not a good hotel for walking around the city. Two tiny, slow elevators are the only way in and out of the hotel so you feel somewhat trapped. The hotel feels more like a mountain lodge with the trees and ducks than a metropolitan hotel. The interior seemed old and you’re greeted with the smell of mold/mildew when you get off the elevator to the lobby (likely due to the pool area). The pool, hot tub, sauna are nice but the changing rooms for the pool were dirty and felt like a public pool locker room. The rooms are a standard low end hotel room without much sense of design/style and seem a bit dated.

The bar staff was nice, but the food was unremarkable. All in all, the place is average and would only recommend if your work made it convenient to stay here.

Here for one night from Toronto. Do not feel safe at this hotel. Anyone can walk in and out. Many young people in the hotel, doesn’t seem like there is a limit to parties here as i can hear through the walls. Also upon checking in, even though covid is in full bloom in montreal, groups of young adults standing in the check in area / seating area. 5 channels on the television. I’m tired from my 6 hour drive from Toronto and the first thing i want to do upon arrival to my room is shower and watch some tv before sleeping and there’s NO WATER! The only good thing i can say about my experience is the customer service from the front desk upon fixing this water issue that i was told was throughout the hotel at that time. However upon checking in i was advised that muffins will be out on display in the morning in the same check in lobby / seating area .... like buffet style. Like no wonder montreal has such a high covid rate

We were very happy with our stay here, and particularly with the many Covid safety measures in place. Fabulous rooftop pool with many physical distancing and sanitizing measures. Excellent location to walk around the city; right across the street from the central train and metro stations. We didn't eat at the restaurant in the hotel (somewhat limited and pricey menu for our liking) but the hotel seems to have a good system in place to allow people to have takeaway meals at the pool. It was a nice escape from reality for a couple of days. Highly recommended!

Overall I would rate the hotel and our stay as good to very good. However there are some things to know in advance (it would have been nice to get this info at check in). I chose a hotel over AirBnB specifically because I wanted the hotel experience including daily cleaning. This didn't happen the first day and I understand now that this is a service hotels are cutting back on since Covid. Whether that's a good strategy for them or not I'm not sure, but if you want cleaning make sure to ask at check in. The reason we chose this hotel was for the pool, and we quickly noticed all the other guests had lovely robes to wear to the pool, but we weren't sure where to get them since they weren't in our rooms. Once at the pool, without robes, the attendant informed us you need to ask for them at the front desk. Well, there were often long lines at reception, so I suggest asking for your robes when you check in. I gather the hotel isn't providing this type of info up front to save costs and I appreciate the entire service industry has had a tough time with Covid, but these little luxuries are exactly why I paid $300/night for a small room with double beds.

Thank you for your feedback and for your ongoing loyalty. Please note that bathrobes are only in the upgraded rooms in specific sections of our hotel but you have locker rooms near the pool so you can change. We had to stop cleaning the rooms daily because of COVID but we are happy to inform you that it is over now, we do offer daily cleaning to all of our guest. We'd love to see you again soon!

Booked one night for the Elton John Concert, but it was cancelled so we stayed one night just the same as it was non refundable. Check in was excellent however the newly renovated room was full of hand marks on the windows, large lamp was not working, fridge was not working until I plulled out and connected it. Room newly carpeted ? hope they have monthly washings to the carpet, perhaps vinyl flooring would have been a better choice for a renovation. The washroom toilet paper roll was verify far away form the toilet bowl which was strange. For the cost spent for the evening it was not a good customer experience. Pls verify the rooms better before having them booked would be a proper practice going forward...

I read all the reviews and be honest I don’t get the criticisms. So you pull into the parking lot underneath the huge building it’s in. You take the elevator or the stairs out of the parking garage into the lobby. You then get another elevator is clearly marked and it takes you right to the lobby of the hotel. It is absolutely beautiful with great little seating areas including swings are surrounded by Floridaceiling windows looking out the gardens with their babbling Brooks and in your round heated swimming pool and hot tub. The restaurant had a good variety of food and our waiter was amazing. The staff was lovely. And at no time do you have to take stairs with your luggage. There are a couple ofsteps that you can take if you choose to walk or there’s an elevator. We never had any problem getting our luggage around the building. Our room was very quiet and clean. The staff gave us great recommendations and went out of their way to provide us with Maps not only for Montreal but for the next city we were traveling to. The underground city can be accessed by going down the same elevator into the same lobby. This is very handy for first thing in the morning when it’s too cold to be running about outside to get your Tim Hortons. More than anything the experience of swimming outside with my kids as the snow is falling on our faces at night was priceless.

you can walk underground to bell center, train station, subway, and a few other places. Seems pretty safe. but if you walk around on the street after the game, that's pretty safe too.. as you won't be alone :)

it's a pool ladder to get in from the inside. If you get in from the outside, there are a two ladders or a wider set of steps (more accessible)
