Me and my husband stayed in a double room with private bathroom for two non-consecutive days (we went to Quebec city for a day in between the stays). The room is indeed very small but it comes with everything we need. Bed is comfortable in my standard and the little TV comes with chromecast that allows streaming from my own...

My first experience with this Hostel was over the phone with the desk guy. I can't say enough about how professional he was, even when I called three different times due to dropping service. Once we arrived, we were a bit early to checkin, but we were still offered to have our bags stowed. I am going to be honest...

I stayed for 7 nights including F1 Grand Prix weekend. This hostel is great, rooms are comfortable, kitchen facilities are very good and the common area / bar has lots of space and good beer! Breakfast is good with decent coffee and all areas are clean and fairly well maintained. Wifi is better and quicker than I have experienced in...

HI-Montreal is located within Montreals downtown area its just a few minutes walk away from Lucien-L'Allier metro station and around 10 minutes from the Central Train Station. The location of the hostel in close proximity to a metro station makes travelling the around the city convenient. The hostel itself is very satisfactory rooms are always tidy, sheets are clean, security...

So, I had never stayed in a hostel before taking this trip, but I'd heard really good things about, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did, and it definitely won't be my last stay in a hostel. For the price, this place was fantastic. No, it's not a Ritz-Carlton or a Marriott or a...

I've just returned from a five night stay with my adult daughter at HI Montreal. I'll admit to being a bit of a "princess" when it comes to accommodations, so I was hesitant to give hostel living a try. But the moment we arrived I felt right at home. We booked a two bed private room. It was small (...

This hostel is very centrally located and easy to get to from the greyhound station via the metro. The rooms are quite nice (though I'd recommend paying the few extra dollars for a smaller dorm room instead of a 10 bed). It was clean and tons of fun. There are lots of opportunities to participate in activities, and the staff...

I lived in HI-Montreal for four months from October 2015 - February 2016. HI-Montreal is a great hostel only a block from a metro station and a stone's throw from downtown. The hostel has a free breakfast and a large clean kitchen where you can store your food and prepare your meals. The hostel's staff and volunteers and helpful, friendly...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
