The InterContinental Montreal, an IHG hotel, garners appreciation for its prime location, nestled conveniently between Old Montreal and downtown, making it a hit among guests eager to explore the city's attractions. While the hotel's amenities and service receive commendations for their comfort and professionalism, there is a consensus that some aspects require enhancement, particularly the rooms which are clean but in need of updates.
Opinions on value are split, with some travelers finding it reasonable and others suggesting improvements to justify the cost. Despite this, the hotel's atmosphere retains a cozy charm, although it could benefit from modernization.

Detailed Reviews
What started out as a great stay had some hiccups at the end that could have been addressed earlier. We arrived at the hotel a few hours before check in and due to cleaning of the rooms our room was not available for early check in, which is not a big deal as you can leave your bag with the bellhop and explore the town. An early check in is never a guarantee so this was not a big deal and this gives one time to walk around the old part of town. The hotel itself is located within easy walking distance of all of the old part of Montreal, is a quick 30 minute taxi/uber ride from the airport, across the street from the convention center, and near the Metro Stop. There is a café near the entrance to the hotel and an abundance of food/shops within a few minutes if one heads in any direction. Upon checking in, we dealt with Martin, who was polite, kind, and even gave us an upgrade to a larger suite on the top floor. Martin even had plenty of helpful suggestions for things for us to do or so. The room itself was large, clean and well apportioned. The bathroom was larger than one would have thought but as noted elsewhere the showers are a tad small. The only issue that I would address in the bathroom is the lighting itself. The lights have a yellowish soft hue to them and for someone trying to put on makeup this can be an issue. In other words, add in some sort of makeup mirror or brighter lights. Our biggest issue was the final night that we were there. We were awoken at 3:30 in the morning to what sounded like a party going on in the hallway with lots of shouting, doors slamming, and what sounded like furniture being moved around. We called the front desk and they responded that they were sending security up to the floor. The noise continued for about another half hour and thus, it was near impossible to go back to sleep. Subsequent to this we found out that there were three weddings or three wedding parties at the hotel that night. I am sympathetic to the jovial nature of weddings, but the hotel could have been a little more proactive in addressing noise or concerns. For example, there are cameras in the hallways and an attentive staff could have seen the commotion and addressed sooner or seen a large group return to the hotel at an early time and asked them to be mindful or other guests. One last thing was that the complimentary coffee in the lobby seemed to be brewed too strong, almost had a burnt taste to it. Despite the foregoing, we would stay here again given the location and service.

Top Quality hotel. We booked a Club room with access to the Club Lounge. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The food was good and affordable and breakfast in the Club lounge was free. The concierge service was particularly good with Chantal being extremely helpful.

Stayed here for 3 nights in February after scoring a great room rate via a discount website. The hotel is in a great location, very close to Notre Dame, the "Oasis Immersion" attraction, the Old Port area, and many restaurants. You can even get to a Metro station without having to go outside!
Several other reviewers have mentioned the underground parking garage. Hotel guests are allowed to park on levels 9-12, and it does feel a bit like you're driving to the center of the earth, but we felt the rate was reasonable, and it was nice to know the car was tucked away in a garage. You have to bring your own bags up from the garage, which wasn't a problem for us, as we had only one small bag each.
Our room was on the 22nd floor, at the end of a hallway. The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable, and there are two huge pillows for each person. We had a lovely view of the city out of our window. Water temperature in the shower was good, and the water pressure was more than adequate -- it was so intense, it was like getting a massage!

Very neat Hotel, centrally located, 250m north from the old town, on a metro station, and 400m from place des arts, location is hard to beat.
The venue rooms starts on 10th floor, up to the 26th, which mean they almost all get a towering view on the surroundings. I booked a Montreal view room and they set me on the 26th and last floor.
They have an efficient Valet parking service, which I strongly suggest to use, unless you won't use your car during Yr stay (Cost 37CAD$ a day, but multiple entries are included, while self parking is 25CAD$ a day, no re entry possible the same day).
Reception area and rooms have been remade, its modern and plush.
However big disappointment with the reception experience, they did not want to honor my Ambassador status, and tried by all means to avoid the mandatory upgrade, and I had to request it, but they "couldnt" do the guaranteed 1 level up upgrade, which is compulsory according the program
This is a 1st ever in 12 years of being an Ambassador, the whole attitude was an issue.
They only gave me lounge entry to "compensate" after I requested for compensation, but honestly, free coffee vs next level upgrade is not going to compensate... but in thr reception mind it was the same.
Quiet a let down when the main reason to stay here is the Ambassador programme which guarantees it. They tried to skip most of their duties around my status during my stay, not delivering the platter of fruit, till after I requested it on day#2 once more, etc...
The hotel has a small 15m long (5m width) pool on 10th floor and a nice sun deck. The hotel lounge serve breakfast and from 5 to 7pm offers alcohol,if you have the perk its ok, otherwise it's overrated.
The executive room was big with around 28sqm, the shower is tiny though, but the bathroom was comfortable. The view to the west from 2624 was magnificent.
Room was clean when I checked in, but they wouldn't hoover the carpet and the food crumbles I left near the desk weren't cleaned on day 3 of my stay, while they were highly visible.
The lifts, even limited to 3 for a 26 floors venue, worked well, and despite a bit of wait sometime, it went well for such a high rise.
The service was friendly as it is in general in Quebec, and professional. Cleaning personnal was invisibile, highly professional in appearance.
All in all, a very good IC venue which I can recommend as a central hotel if you want to explore montreal or need to stay for a professional stay, but if you are an Ambassador, beware, they might not provide you with the guaranteed perks, as an IHG member i had a rather poor experience, as a common guest the hotel is rather fine.
No matter what they ll answer to this review, they unfortunately didn't recognise nor sought to honor the IHG status programme when I checked in, this is a serious let down for me

My wife and I had booked a club room for four nights.
When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that the club dining facility would not be available for the duration of our stay. Our bedroom was dark, dingy and in urgent need of renovation. A lick of paint on the skirting boards and cobweb removal would help the situation immensely.
There are far better hotels in Montreal to stay in believe me.

Our first stay at the Intercontinetal as we took advantage of a promotion that included breakfast each morning.
We had been to this hotel's bar and restaurant before and enjoyed them and had a good stay at the hotel. The location in an enclosed mall near Victoria Square is convenient to Old Montreal, the Port and the downtown area.
The staff were helpful and efficient and the food quite good on the bar menu.
Our only minor quibbles were that the mattress in our room was quite worn on one side and the breakfast buffet could use an upgrade.
Definitely worth a look if you are visiting Montreal and it is within walking distance of several great restaurants.

We had a great stay at the Intercontinental, located in beautiful Old Montreal. Our check in was quick, and the rooms are clean, luxurious and very quiet. The bathroom is quite large, with a great shower and huge fluffy towels (although we would have appreciated to have extra towels). Parking in the connected underground garage is not too pricey ($25) for a big city, although you have to drive down 9 floors to reach the hotel parking level. Breakfast was pretty good but we have had better in major hotels across Canada. Overall, the Hotel Intercontinental is very good value for the money.

I had trouble choosing a hotel in Montreal for our recent 4 night stay. In the end, I chose the Intercontinental based on price and location, but was nervous because of some recent reviews that emphasized how outdated the property was. I am really glad I didn't listen to those reviews, because the Intercontinental ended up being perfect for our trip.
I reserved a standard King room. I was offered an upgrade for an additional fee both before check in (by email) and at check in, but chose not to take them. We got a standard king on the 19th floor. The room did not have a view (well, you could see the river if you stood in the window area and looked all the way to the right), but we didn't really care. What mattered most was that the room was very clean, had good temperature control, and was comfortable for the two of us. The room itself was large and had plenty of space and the bathroom was big and clean, with both a tub and a shower stall.
While I will agree that the room was a bit "dated" because it has early 2000s décor (darker woods, dark carpet), that did not bother us. The furniture was in good condition and the bed was very comfortable. There was a mini-fridge that kept beverages cold and a safe in the cabinet under the TV.
We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, instead choosing to have our meals out of the hotel for lunch and dinner. We did have breakfast each morning at Fabrique de Bagel, which is in the attached underground area in the atrium between the hotel and the hotel's meeting space. Affordable, good, and had lots of options!
We did get a drink one night in the bar. The drinks were good, but priced accordingly for being in a hotel.
Perhaps the best part of the hotel was the location. It was central to everything we wanted to do, easy access to the Metro (either walking outside or through the underground tunnels), and was a easy and safe walk to a ton of restaurants on Rue Saint Paul.

As a regular visitor to Montreal, I can definitively say that the InterContinental Montreal is my most preferred place to stay. The friendly service, world class facilities and amenities, and terrific location make the IC my home away from home. I most recently stayed there for the Nuit Blanche weekend and my expectations for greatness were exceeded yet again. The breakfast buffet at the Osco is the finest breakfast I've had at any hotel in the world. Several fresh breads, charcuterie, beans, and fresh fruit, plus cappucino served with a smile by Rene-Gilles and Marc Read, are the perfect way to start the day and keep me full well into the afternoon. I highly recommend upgrading to a rate that will include breakfast.
I stayed in a corner room on the 24th floor with excellent views of the Cartier bridge, Farine Four Roses sign, and much of the city skyline. The desk was right by the windows, providing a comfortable location for getting some work done and there were plenty of charging ports both at the desk and near the bed. The steam room really warmed me up after a chilly evening outdoors, though I found the salt water pool a little too chilly on the winter morning when I visited. In addition to a delightful breakfast, my friends were thrilled with their absinthe cocktails along with dinner at Sarah B. The beyond burger was delicious and a reasonably-priced plant-based option.
The location is excellent with quick walks to Old Montreal and the Quartier des Spectacles. Additionally, you don't have to go outside to hop on the Orange Line metro stop at Victoria Square. It was a little less convienient not staying at the same hotel as my friends, but all of the amenities, warm customer service, and comfortable rooms more than made up for those short walks to meet up with chums.

Dear 540gregy, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and glowing review of your recent stay at the InterContinental Montreal! We are thrilled to hear that we are your preferred place to stay in Montreal and that we consistently exceed your expectations. It's fantastic to hear that you enjoyed our friendly service, world-class facilities, and terrific location. We are delighted that you had such a positive experience during the Nuit Blanche weekend. Your kind words about the breakfast buffet at Osco are greatly appreciated, and we will be sure to pass along your compliments to Rene-Gilles and Marc. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the stunning views from your corner room on the 24th floor and that you found the desk area comfortable for work. It's great to hear that you were able to relax in our steam room, although we apologize that the saltwater pool was a little chilly for your liking. We are thrilled that your friends also had a great experience, particularly enjoying the absinthe cocktails and dinner at Sarah B. We are constantly striving to provide memorable experiences for all our guests, and we are pleased to hear that we succeeded with your group. Thank you for highlighting our convenient location, which makes exploring Montreal a breeze. We came here and spent a fortune at this IHG hotel for the Formula 1 race weekend. The hotel is in the business district, a medium walk to Old Town and other sites around town. The front desk people were relatively friendly, nothing out of the ordinary. Concierge was helpful.
The hallways and rooms were very dated and dark. The hallway had a musty smell. Carpets have not been changed in years. During our first night, I realized there was dark hair all over the bathroom floors, definitely not our hair. The shower was very small, barely could fit in the small stall. Beds were comfortable though, about the only good thing in the room.
Breakfast was included in our package and was decent at best. We had breakfast for two, but my friend doesn’t normally have breakfast. He asked me if I could bring him up a couple of croissants. After I ate, I asked the waiter if I could get a small bag to bring my friend two croissants from the buffet up to the room, and he said “that is not allowed”. I asked if I could just put them on a plate and bring it up to the room for myself, and he said “no”. This was ridiculous!!!! So I end d up going to the outside store and bought him his croissant.
We stayed our final night at the Westin across the street and that was so much better!
W e have stayed at many IHG hotels, and this was definitely the worst one we have stayed at. Highly recommend the Westin across the street.

Dear travelguy21776, Thank you for selecting our InterContinental Montreal while visiting Montreal and for providing feedback about your experience. It's a pleasure having you as our guest. I am truly sorry you did not experience an exemplary stay due to the smell in the hallways and the comfort of our rooms. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be certain that I have noted and forwarded your feedback for the management to improve. In the middle of your experience, I am glad our staff's service was still appreciated. Please grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHG Hotels and Resorts Service
