The location was superb- walking distance to St. Catherine Street and all its shops, the Bell Centre, Vieux Montreal and many central Montreal sights and restaurants. It was a 5 minute walk from the bus station for tours and for anything further afield, it was on the Metro, reached by a downstairs lift.

My stay at this hotel was a good experience. The room had a nice view of the city and the staff was cordial. There were plenty of restaurants to chose from within an easy walk. The only item in the room that was not extremely clean was the shower walls and a slow drain.

We had a double room on the 25th floor with a City view. Overall the Hotel is very nice and very well situated with direct access to the metro and underground. The room and hotel were clean and well maintained. It's a little bit dated, but still very comfortable and nice. The view from the room was very nice as...

I chose this hotel because it was connected to the Underground City. After Place Bonaventure there is nothing. The food in the restaurant was very expensive and not to our taste. The wine is highway robbery- $60 for an Italian Pinot Grigio is quite high. The concierge was very nice, booking us a day tour of Montreal and dinner at...

Hi suefromCalif .... I am really sorry to read the underground access was not more clearly defined for you. Evidently we failed to give you the right directions to be able to access all our city has to offer. I assure you there is easy access to the train station - Place Ville Marie - Major shopping - our events...

We stayed here in January for a hockey game at the Bell Centre. It was such a close walk, we didn't even need our jackets. The room was very nice, not extravagant but clean with a nice bathroom. Parking is paid (about $25) but I believe this is the norm for all of downtown Montreal. We ordered room service breakfast...

We were in this hotel in June just in time wen jazz festival in Montreal was held and this hotel is about 3 minute walking to the festival place. Other 10-15 minutes walking and you are in old City and St. Lawrence river. Hotel is very ok, profesional stuff and great breakfast what is important for Europians when they are...

Perfectly located for a two day stop on our Canadian ski vacation. We were short walks to attractions such as Basilique Notre Dame, Saint Mary Queen of the World Cathedral (across the street), the Port of Montreal, stores, subway stations, restaurants, etc... No complaints about service. Pricing seems fair considering location. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable.

Stayed here due to location on Marriott points. Had some challenges with check in then I had called with a request for a robe. I was told told they are only for the higher end rooms. Then she looked at my stay status and said" your not even a gold member". If if they don't want one in the rooms...

We stayed at this hotel during the World Junior Hockey. It was comfortable and quiet. I love the extras such as the beautiful lobby, boutiques, and Senators Bar where they do a great smoked meat sandwich. We will return to this hotel because it is connected underground to the Bell Centre and lots of shopping. It is close to everything;...

Our room was on the 32nd floor, had a great view of the city. It has been over 20 years since my last time here in Montreal. My only bad experience I had was with the bell men. They seem to rush me when we first arrived and when I was leaving they offer no help at all for my...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
