Montreal historically has been a lively city yet has suffered due to the economic decline. Many hotels are therefore a bit long in the tooth, like the Marriott. The check in experience was lengthy. Similarly the check out was delayed due to a shortage of staff. Amenities were slim in the hotel. The hotel was reasonably clean. The hotel has...

Kind of a cool 60/70's era hotel. Good location for McGill or Concordia, and downtown. Ditto for hitting a Habs game. The rooms are nice, but not amazing. Beds comfortable. Price was fair and the service good.

I attended a meeting several years ago and stayed at this hotel. Upper end Marriott property with very good meeting space and service to mid size groups. Close to catholic cathedral and various Canadiens hotspots. Good food and service

This is a beautiful property. The location is great, within walking distance of downtown. The parking is a little awkward due to construction around the hotel, thus the very expensive Valet parking...which is not an option. The rooms were very nice, however, the lounge left something to be desired. Having stayed in many Marriott properties around the world, the lounge...

Carole S - thank you for taking the time to post your review of your recent stay. I stayed at this hotel from Oct. 16-19, 2014. I booked it through hotwire so got a good deal and was very pleased with both the hotel and the location. It's two blocks south of St. Catherine's St. , a block from the Bell Centre, and a 10-15 minute walk to old Montreal. I also had a great view of...

Encountered excellent service from all staff. The room was nice, but could use a little tlc (the curtains were ripped, the paint on the bathroom ceiling is bubbling). The location of the hotel was good. We walked to several nice restaurants. Attended a conference at the hotel and the lower level is really loud right now due to road work...

What a very nice Marriott this is. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Doormen were just so nice, they made you feel welcome any time you came in the door. At checkin, the representative gave me a city-view room -- wow! Fantastic view. Very walkable to St. Catherine Street, and great access right from hotel for Metro and...

Outstanding value. My room was of superior quality and I look forward to returning to this hotel in the future. I didn't use any of the amenities (pool, exercise, etc) as it was a quick one-night stay for a business meeting, but the comfort of my room made me wish I had been in town just a bit longer! (My...

Great lobby. Door men in uniform. Big room with great view. Older hotel but well maintained. Busy spot. Don't expect late check out. Even if you are Marriott rewards Elite. Not gonna happen. Decent restaurants too.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
