At Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, opinions on service vary, with some guests commending the attentiveness, while others point out disappointments like unexpected charges and slow service. The hotel's prime location is consistently praised for its convenience and proximity to attractions. However, the value is questioned by guests who feel nickel-and-dimed by additional fees for services like Wi-Fi.
Room sizes and cleanliness receive mixed reviews, but the comfort and views are often highlighted positively. The atmosphere strikes a balance between modern luxury and a welcoming vibe, and while the hotel's cleanliness is generally applauded, there have been occasional lapses. Amenities like the pool and lounge are appreciated, though the cost of extras can be a drawback.

We had a great stay at this property. Despite the fact that some of the hotel workers were on strike, the staff and management worked exceptionally hard to make the very best of the situation. Our room was large with a good-size bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was substantial with regard to choice of hot and cold items. Great location and directly connected with the "underground city"; about a 20 minute walk to Old Montreal.

The Fairmont is conveniently located right above the train station which is very handy when travelling by train from Toronto. The lobby of the hotel doesn’t feel like a place where you would like to lounge and have a drink like some other hotels. On the first night we had trouble connecting to the wifi so I called the front desk for assistance and they advised me that we didn’t have free wifi and that we would have to pay for the wifi. This was disappointing. We stayed at the Ottawa Fairmont in June and we had free wifi there. The following day I was looking at the key card folder the front desk gave us when we checked in and there was a wifi password written inside. I wish someone had told us it was there when we checked in and I wish the front desk gave us correct information when I called for assistance with the wifi the first night. The thermostat in our bedroom did not work during our weekend stay as it only produced cool air, no heat. On our floor there was often room service dishes and trays left in the hallway suggesting that these items are not being picked up frequently enough. When we checked out at 9:30 am on the Monday we left our carry on sized bags with the hotel so we didn’t have to drag them around the city all day and the charge was $2.50 per bag. I was surprised there was a charge especially since we had just been guests in a suite for two nights.

I spent the night of October 2, 2024 in this hotel, during a tour organized by Club Med Découvertes and occupied room 1018.
This large modern establishment is ideally located in downtown Montreal, with direct access to the Central Station, the underground pedestrian network and close to the famous Sainte Catherine Street. Old Montreal is also not far away, and the location seems perfect to discover the city center.
The room I occupied is a large room with double bed, desk and chair, armchair and poof and a small coffee table. The view overlooks Mary Queen of the World Cathedral. It is modern, clean, comfortable and quiet. The bedroom is completed by a small bathroom with sink, toilet and shower cabin. Only downside, the shower gel dispenser is empty. In terms of equipment the room has a safe, air conditioning, minibar, and TV (with TV5). Wifi works everywhere correctly.
The breakfast buffet is quite correct.

We stayed with our two kids as a first stop exploring Quebec. It was pleasant enough but I would rather stay where I didn't have to pay for good wifi. I will say that although small the rooms felt luxurious and their custom shampoo/conditioner/soaps were delightful. Also having kids, beware of the snack bar in room - you will get charged if your kids move things around but it's not a problem to get a refund. Our kids love the pool as well. Location is decent with a bit of walking.

Have stayed here many times. Beautiful hotel in the centre of Montreal. We were getting our daughters from McGill for the holidays. We always self Park at the train station. Very convenient if you don’t need your car and less than $30 for 24 hours. We always get an upgrade with our reservation but this time they wanted to charge $100 per night for a bigger room so we declined. The hotel was very quiet so close to Christmas. Nicely Decorated for the season. Love the bar and bartenders. They have a breakfast buffet which was included in our rate. We don’t eat a lot at breakfast but the food was fresh and well presented. Our daughter stayed with us one night and the 2 bedded room had double beds. Oh my they are small as was the room and bathroom. Def not for more than 2 people! In hindsight we should have booked 2. Or gotten that upgrade 🫣. We bought coffees at cafe Krema to go each day. The cardboard cups and lids are a disaster. We appreciate trying to go green, but drinking an $8 latte out of a cardboard lid is gross. Iced lattes are served that way too. Remember Bring a reusable cup!
Still Love this hotel but the stay wasn’t as perfect as on the past.

My hubby and I and another couple had a fantastic stay. The hotel is well situated downtown with direct access to the underground city and central metro station. We loved Rosely's and Nacarat lounge so much we made several trips to both for drinks and food. The pavlova at Rosely's is a must try and the gin and tonics and espresso martini's at Naccarat Lounge were heavenly. The bar and wait staff were super friendly at both locations which made for a super welcoming atmosphere. The room itself was modern and cozy, very quiet which is impressive considering the age and location of the building. The nespresso maker and standard sized shower dispensers and lotion were handy so as not to fiddle with the travel sized bottles. The only thing I missed was the signature white tea and fig scent that I have enjoyed when staying at the calgary and banff Fairmont hotels. Also, the trip was booked by my husbands work partner and we were told by reception at check-in that our Accor account perks could not be honored since the trip was booked on a third party site. The reception clerk still took steps to honor free wifi which we appreciated. We will certainly return on the next business/pleasure trip to beautiful Montreal. Bon Soiree

Before choosing a small bottle of water from the refrigerator, it is important to check carefully. Although the menu lists a price of $4.50, the reality may be surprising, as these bottles could end up costing you $10 each. Such a price difference deserves special attention to avoid any unpleasant surprises during payment.

We chose to stay despite a labor dispute with some workers, even after our booking agency advised us to cancel. The arrival process was smooth, with the valet handling the vehicle. During check-in, the attendant informed us that we had been upgraded to a one-bedroom suite, which was a pleasant surprise, especially since we were traveling with our 4-year-old, who enjoys having his own space. They also gave my son a Fairmont stuffed animal, which he later named “Rocky the Racoon.” He adored it and carried it everywhere, even to bed. The room was spacious and comfortable and allowed us to rest after busysnowy days exploring the city.
The staff did their best under the circumstances. They were friendly, informative, and apologized for the situation, even though it wasn’t their fault. They also set up a complimentary breakfast, which was a wonderful gesture, offering everything we needed to start our day. One day, while walking to our room, I casually mentioned needing to buy some water, and the front desk called us over and gave us free bottles, which was greatly appreciated.
The location was perfect, connected to the underground and close to all the activities we needed to reach in and around Montreal. My son loved the snow so much that he’s already asking to go back. We’ll definitely return the next time we’re in Montreal!

This hotel experience makes me not want to even go back to Montreal AT ALL and thus was my first time
When I got into the room I couldn’t figure out the wifi so I went to search for the phone and discovered a spider on my headboard and with a closer look a lot of dust on the side table.
I immediately informed front desk and was able to get through to a manager who told me they would put me in a room on the 17th floor and ensure it was clean and have someone immediately come to my current room to verify my concern of having a spider and dust near the bed.
The manager I spoke to via phone was hasty and acted like having a spider in the room in my bed is comparable to a gnat! I waited in the room for them to move me but after 30 min I went down myself they said they’d waive the wifi as a courtesy but I thought that was odd bc it’s usually free in hotels for guests ..the kicker was that it stopped working my 3rd day there ..there is also no free water in room , fridge to keep items just a stocked mini bar so if you move to put something in you’re immediately charged Also note this hotel is huge like a convention type , over crowded customer service is not a priority
The spa and pool seemed nice but was overcrowded
I also sent an email 8.17 to management no response from David Paquet and Mickaele Gozzi

Arriving by train it was a welcome treat to take a few escalators and then turn left into the lobby of the hotel. No taxis or waiting, you have arrived! I had booked well in advance and had access to a special rate which turned out to be a substantial savings from the current going rate. Staff were top notch, the bed extra comfortable and the view fantastic. I could walk everywhere I needed to go, the Bell Centre, excellent restaurants and sight seeing. Also enjoyed both room service and a few bites in their Roselys Restaurant. I would stay there again. Attention to any concerns were dealt with effectively and efficiently. Was given a beautiful “sweets” tray for having to change rooms. Spectacular view!

I suggest you ask for a "Cathedral View." You will be looking at the idyllic basilica across the road, with its copper roof and statues of the disciples, along with the Bell Centre and lovely foliage.
