My wife and I and another couple spent three nights at the Queen Elizabeth. We booked a standard room. The room was clean and although not too large was very adequate. Bathroom was as expected with no real complaints. . Hotel is close proximity to the VIA Railroad and the subway below the hotel. There are a few places near...

Had a great stay there in August. Friendly service, convenient location, comfortable room. The hotel was built in the 1950's but is still a great hotel Many movie stars and dignitaries have stayed here including John Lennon and Yoko Ono.... The train station runs under the hotel but you won't hear any noise from the trains. Room service was very...

The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth is like a home away from home. Everything is close at had, St Catherine St form great restaurants and shopping, the underground food and shopping. Montreal has everything you ever want and the Queen Elizabeth is a great location. Very close to fabulous old Montreal.

Rooms, amenities (great gym), location all completely fine but upon our arrival initial experience almost made us change hotels. It was very busy with many international groups checking in, but this is the Fairmont and just not acceptable. Our first Front Desk attendant actually lied right to our face. Here is our story. We were staying on an arranged conference...

Dear RidlerGirl67 - Thank you very much for sharing the details of your recent stay. Great location. Easy to get to shopping and Old Montreal by walking. Directly over the train station which is filled with great places to eat, almost any ethnic food you can think of. Attached to a mall. Only issue we had with this hotel is that it is badly in need of an update. The large front lobby is filled...

The hotel is always clean, proffessionally staffed and has an atmosphere of vacation. The food within the restaurant of the hotel is excellent and is worth eating there instead of trying to find what to eat elsewhere. The pool and recreation room, gym are clean and well staffed. Everything is local and you can walk to the major events, the...

This review is a 3 out of 5 based on the preferences we like as couple when we stay in hotel. We really LOVE to have a strong air conditioner in our room and unfortunately I don't think that they have changed their system since the original one, and keep in minds that it's a 1958 building. We stayed 3...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
