Detailed Reviews
This hotel is mostly rented by the government for temporary stay possibly for individuals that need medical assistance coming from rural parts of the province of Quebec from what I understood. This hotel is busy and very loud and was not ideal. I would suggest choosing another option. Also, I never had a hotel room with three locks which was not comforting. In other circumstances the hotel could have potential as the rooms were ok if you didn't think about what went on in there before you.

This hotel seems to be used by the government as a halfway house for people waiting for medical operations and a shelter for homeless people, specifically indigenous people, which is fine and admirable but this information should be disclosed to other guests. There are also people who drink and smoke outside the front door, even though there’s a no smoking sign. The room we stayed in was pretty spacious, besides the bathroom which was quite cramped, and it seemed quite clean. We also didn’t have any problems with our hot water like some previous reviews mentioned. We requested a rollaway bed which was comfortable, but the linens we were given with it had yellow and blood stains on them, and also had long black hairs on them as well. Some of the guests here seemed to be quite rowdy, with lots of shouting and door slamming at night. At one point in my stay I was in an elevator with about 5 other guests, who were all clearly drunk or on something at about 10am, who mocked and insulted me in French. They might have thought I only spoke English because I said thank you when they let me on, even though I understood almost everything they said. They proceeded to ask me in English if was going to “the basement” and one of them began to whip his head around in circles trying to scare me. They were some positives to our stay though. The front desk staff were very helpful and welcoming, and the security guards in the lobby were also quite friendly and courteous, and we enjoyed the free coffee and tea from the front desk. I was also not at all bothered by the people in the lobby who seem to be homeless or awaiting medical treatment, as they were also very respectful of the other guests and I even had a few nice conversations with them. Overall I probably wouldn’t stay here again, unless I absolutely had to.

The only good thing about the hotel is its location and friendly receptionists. This hotel seems to have an agreement to accommodate people from a hospital because at any time of the day you can see people in a wheelchair entering or people who do not have a Tourist Listing. The lobby has nowhere to sit, the only chairs there are precisely the wheelchairs of those who pass there. The room we were given has a door that connects to the next room, so you can hear EVERYTHING and at night I struggled to sleep because of the noise. The person who "cleanses" if anything just makes the bed, the rest leaves it the same and left some medicines of mine lying on the floor. Anyway, it is worth paying for a slightly more expensive hotel but where you can be quiet.

We arrived and got greeted with some coffe at the reception, the receptionist was polite and respectful. The room was spacious and the beds were really comfortable, the espresso coffe was awesome.
The parking place was good and accessible at any time.
Due to some events room service was not available, but we ordered Uber eats and eat at the room, all in all it was a really great stay, also, great location near stores and parks

Worse experience ever!
The photos they have for how the hotel looks must be photo shopped or was only like that for the photo cause honestly my room didn’t look nothing like the photos. It’s honestly more like a motel not a hotel. Coffee machine in the room is real garbage don’t waste your time with that takes forever to brew just for it to small funky and taste like windex. Be ware you may have to spend more money you need to pay a damage fee but will most likely get it back when you check out ,it’s a 200$ fee soo be ware . Parking price is just ridiculous and be ware again!!! Here, so you can and will most likely pay for the parking when you check out but the machine is frigged up when you leave you can’t go so of course you press the call button they’ll let you go, but if your not aware of that and impatient and want to get the hell out of dodge well you may pay double, I could only imagine the people it could or already happened to who are not aware or intelligent enough(is like a sham in away if you think about it) over alll I will never go back here on my next visit to Montreal and I highly recommend that you save your money and get a better hotel like holiday inn, I bet they are even cheaper. Not worth your time here and money.

Response from Paolo DiVito, Owner at Hotel Espresso Montreal Centre-Ville/Downtown
Responded Apr 20, 2022
Hello Sammm , Its seems you had a little problem following the instructions on the coffee machine. I m sorry to hear that thousands of guests have stayed with us and that is the first time we've had that problem. I will mention to our KEURIG rep that his coffee is not up to your standards. Also, you could have chosen to park on the street at 4.00$ per hour which from your file would have been $64.00 so good on you for choosing our indoor parking at only $30.00 per day with unlimited in out privilieges. And finally, our hotel website pics depicts exactly what our rooms look like.

If you are single women or a family with small children, stay away from this hotel.
We booked this hotel to attend a concert and stay the next day to check out the sites in Montreal as it was our first trip to Montreal.
We booked this hotel for $400+ per night. After tax and $31 per day for parking the total was just over $1000. My wife and I were so excited to stay here.
As soon as you arrive, you can tell that something is not right. There are many people loitering around the front entrance smoking. We had a feeling that something wasn’t right. We checked online once we got our room. We came to realize that this hotel houses low income or homeless families.
I completely understand that some people go through tough times. However, if you are going to charge $400 a night I would expect to be told about this.
We arrived back from the concert very late and there was still people loitering out front of the hotel, we took the dark elevator up to our floor and were greeted with a person passed out in a chair.
The hotel itself is in a great location but that is really the only positive thing about this hotel.
If you are a group of single women and/or a family with young children I would look elsewhere for a hotel. The families that are living there, take over the lobby and the entrance to the hotel at all hours.
If you are going to charge a luxury cost, the hotel should be just that, luxurious. We felt that it was not anywhere near luxurious and definetly not worth the money.

For a night worker who does not sleep very deep you could have misery to sleep! If your room # ends up forty and more you end up near the employees elevator. This one makes a ridiculous noise when starting it echoes in the walls in the ceiling and in the floor... This elevator can operate late at night and early in the morning unable to recover from sleep from a night shift. I try to bury the noise by constantly running the air conditioning fan... But the rooms are equipped with "EcoSmart" thermostats with a motion sensor that disables everything when it thinks you are not there. In short when you are lying down you do not move and it disables the fan. I found a hack on the internet to reconfigure it to "VIP" mode but it seems that the thermostats are connected to a central system that resets the settings a few hours apart. Anyway, sleeping here is a real battle. And besides, I'm not a First Nation race. I'm not allowed to eat at the hotel restaurant.

This was my third time here. I like the location as it is is two blocks from st. Catherine’s street and about 20 minutes from the playground and central to many other downtown attractions. Staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are decent for what you pay for compared to others in the area. The manager Asif is a good hosts. I also like that i can take my pets with me (for a fee of course) the only thing off about this this place is that available rooms appear to be used to house elderly, homeless, aboriginals which is all good as the same thing happens in the USA.

The walls are paper thin and the service is very bad. We had a room with a shared door to the room next to us. There was a PARTY with at least 6 people and tequila shots involved in their room. They had music on and were screaming at night. We called front desk who said it was “acceptable noise” and refused to do anything for us who were trying to sleep. They could easily have changed us room or ask them to stop knocking at our door (??!!??) but they didi not. Pool and restaurant was closed . Parking is like 35$ a day. Bed was dirty. Overall very bad . Go for something else if you can!

Although this is more of a "non-luxury" property, we enjoyed our stay during F1 race weekend! Great location to restaurants, metro stations, and easy to park your car. Rooms are spacious, clean, and renovated. They also have good speciality coffees that they will make for you at the front desk. We would definitely stay here again!

It is $29 canadian dollars per night. Also, adding their 2 kinds of taxes, a 3 night parking is $99.
Rates change daily ...in 95% of cases price will go up as you get closer to date of arrival...my opinion but early especially for the summer months
I'm not sure. In all my times at the hotel I've never seen pets there. Contact them directly to make sure.
check in time was 3 PM - if you get there on time there will be better rooms available. Many hotels have a late check out fee you would have to confirm it with the hotel
There was an outside pool that was empty. Disappointing.
