We were looking for a cheap, clean place to stay for a night after deciding to go to Montreal on a whim. This place looked really cute in the photos but was quite different in person.
We drove hours to get there and were exhausted...More
The Pensione Popolo was a nice, clean, and affordable place to stay during my visit to Montreal. Great location for cool local bars and music, plus you get a free ticket to a show downstairs at the famous Casa Del Popolo (birthplace of Arcade Fire...More
Where can I start! The check in, there is no check in desk. You go to the bar and check in so it's not convenient. All rooms are in the 2nd and 3rd floor and that's OK but there's no elevators and if you're carrying...More

Hi Eddie. I'm not sure exactly what room you stayed (sounds like our smallest one) but only 2 of them have a shared bathroom. We have 2 other rooms that are larger with private baths as well as a fully equipped apartment as well. As...More
Accommodation is very basic. If you want somewhere with TV and a bathroom in the room, this is not the place for you. If it is just a base for somewhere to sleep, then this is fine.

Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that
dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
