Our stay at Homewood Suites was excellent. From the parking, to the check in, to check out, everything went well. Easy, comfortable, and full of value. For a family traveling with teenagers, Homewood was such a welcoming option, and we're so glad we made the choice to stay here.

Hotel's Favourite
Our family stayed for 3 nights at the end of December. The hotel was very clean and quiet. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with kitchenette. There is no oven in the room but there is a fridge, freezer, toaster, microwave, stove top, coffee maker). The midtown location was great! Parking was a breeze, there is a black garage door for the underground parking. Although the parking signage needs to say: “Homewood Suites” it just says “parking de l'hôtel $15” which as first-time guests we weren’t sure if it was our hotel or not. Nearby shops are all walkable. We highly recommend walking over to the Supermarche, its directly across the street to make your own charcuterie (large selection of fresh baguettes, cheese and meats - awesome prices too). There is also a Starbucks directly across the street which we loved! Travellers tip - pack ziploc baggies to store your extra food in. The bathroom was very large and bright, it’s only accessible through the bedroom. We would have preferred to have bathroom access through the living room as to not disturb our sleeping child at night. The swimming pool was quite small for a family hotel (10 person capacity) and the water temperature could have been warmer. We really wished there was a hot tub to relax in at night and warm up after the pool. The included breakfast buffet was very convenient for our family. Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel.

From the moment we walked in, I knew this was going to be a great hotel. The lobby area is clean and welcoming. The check in employee was so nice! Parking was easy. The room was large and clean. It was so quiet at night! We slept like babies!! When we went to breakfast, I was surprised at all the option. They had lots of fresh fruit, muffins, banana bread, many other bread options, eggs, bacon, oatmeal. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate. So many options. The breakfast seating are was really nice, too. Not just square tables all in a row. Many comfortable seating options. The hotel is near stores and restaurants and close to the metro station, too. Check out was a breeze! We would definitely stay here again!!

The racism of the front desk staff, specifically two of the female receptionists, is staggering. The Homewood Suites section of the hotel is separate and distinct from the Garden section. This distinction is particularly important as during breakfast, there is a list, and the person in charge of the list does not speak English? Or at least, when they do not wish to assist, they certainly do not fail to trigger that card. My family unfortunately received the worst customer service of all time at this specific location. Not an exaggeration. The condescension, overt racism and prejudice exhibited was astonishing. In a modern society, and an international hotel chain, one does not expect to be subjugated to such abhorrent behaviours, nor would you expect the front desk to cover it up by brushing the behaviours aside. No apologies for any possible “misunderstanding”or otherwise, but a doubling down of prejudiced language and micro aggressions. Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel with the current staff working on the premises. The sad thing is that the property is beautiful, and the two bedroom suite we had booked was spacious and lovely. However, the outright atrocious and discriminatory behaviour of the two female receptionists is to such a disdainful extent that no matter what, their actions could not be overlooked.

Response from Nick D'Amico, General Manager at Homewood Suites By Hilton Montreal Midtown
Responded Sep 18, 2023
Dear Guest Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your recent stay with us. We were very surprised and disappointed to have read your comments on the service your received from our team, In response to your comment regarding breakfast, we do in fact verify guest names and room numbers at the Homewood Suites Breakfast area, as this room is exclusive to our Homewood Suites guest. We do on occasion have guest from the Hilton Garden Inn, who attempt to enter the room. Therefore, this control was put in place. I am very confused on your comment regarding our breakfast attendants not speaking English, as they most definitely understand and Speak English even though the primary language in Montreal and Quebec is in fact French. They are there to simply confirm the name and room number from our guest so that only our Homewood suites Guest enter the breakfast room. More than half our guest speak English, and we have never received any complaints on staff not being able to converse with our guests in English. In response to your comments on Prejudice, I am very surprised that you would make such a comment when our front desk team is compiled of over 6 different nationalities, and we are proud to have such an inclusive work environment at the hotel not to mention so many more Nationalities throughout the hotel. I would certainly be interested to know what type of prejudice you would be referring too as this is certainly not clear in your comments. We were glad that you enjoyed your guest suite and the hotel amenities. But truly sorry that your experience was not a more positive one and can only hope that we may have the privilege and pleasure of making this up to you on a return trip. Regards Nick D'Amico

This was our first family (of four) vacation together since December of 2019, and the "Homewood Suites by Hilton (Midtown Montreal)" made for a very pleasant trip, indeed! After a long drive from Boston, the receptionist made check-in nice and easy, explaining breakfast hours clearly, and answering a few questions about parking in a friendly manner. Accidentally (or on purpose), our room was on a high floor as requested; by chance, it had an awesome view of St. Joseph's Oratory. Our room was clean and spacious; besides the two queen beds, there was a small sofa and coffee table; a table to either eat on or use a laptop on; a kitchenette with a stovetop, refrigerator, sink, and dishwasher; a flat-screen tv; a dresser with drawers; a closet with clothes hangers; a hair dryer; and, (I think) an iron and ironing board. We did not cook, but we did use the plates and kitchen utensils for one meal; there was dishwashing detergent available to clean up afterwards. The beds were fine, the bathroom sink and shower worked perfectly (though you do have to be careful because the hot water can get extremely hot very quickly if you turn the knob in the hot direction), and we heard zero noise from the hallway and adjacent rooms. We heard zero noise from outside, too, but our room was not on the side that faces the highway, so we don't know how much noise that side presents. Our room was clean when we arrived, and the rest of the hotel looked nice (and clean) throughout our stay of five days and four nights. We planned on touring all of the locations in downtown and old Montreal, but when looking for hotels in June for this August trip, most of the places downtown were either priced out of our range or had inconvenient parking options; we took a chance going a little farther out (as we've determined in other cities, it's almost always worth it, if you're driving and need parking), and this location worked out positively in nearly every way. To start with, our family was surprised (and happy) when we first arrived, just seeing the beautiful lobby area; they were already saying that the hotel was probably one of the best that we had ever stayed at, and we hadn't even seen the room yet! That was good to know, because all I knew was that the value was good, plus I was hoping that what I had read about this being a fairly new hotel was true. The parking garage was secured by an automatically opening-and-closing garage door, and there were many more-than-enough spaces; we easily drove our regular-size SUV (not too large, but bigger and taller than compact) through the garage to our preferred space on the lowest floor, and there was plenty of room for the few other vehicles on that floor to park safely away from each other. The parking garage has its own secure elevator that requires a hotel room card to be used in order for the elevator to be directed to go in the up direction to one's desired floor; this is a definite plus in terms of safety, and this requirement of using the hotel room card in the elevator in order to go in the up direction also holds at the lobby level, so that is nice to know as well. (By the way, there is a small charge for using the convenient self-parking garage -- $15 Canadian dollars per night.) For our first two days, we drove to downtown Montreal and its surrounding neighborhoods; we had to figure out the parking situation, which we knew might be tough, and we got through it. But, on our second night, from downtown Montreal, we had half the family test out the Metro system while the other half drove back to the hotel; it was a successful trial run, and during this test, we found out that the Metro stop close to the hotel that we used (Namur) was much closer than we expected (walking distance, maybe five minutes, next to highway, but on a sidewalk and far enough away from highway cars to be safe). So, the next two days, we used the Metro to travel from our hotel to all our destinations in downtown Montreal and its nearby neighborhoods; the Metro got us around easily and efficiently to very distant locations. By the way, since half of our trip was over the weekend, and we didn't start using the Metro until Friday night, we took advantage of the unlimited weekend pass, which covers Friday night through Monday morning! Now, back to the hotel... We love free breakfasts, and we were not disappointed. There wasn't tons of variety for the main servings, but we're use to that; the good thing is that the quality of all the breakfast options was excellent, and the service provided by the on-staff personnel was outstanding. For our four days of breakfasts, some of the options available were: scrambled eggs; mini vegetable omelet; bacon; beef/pork or plain pork sausage; hash browns or diced/cubed potatoes; sugar-filled waffle (cookies?); croissants; chocolate muffin bread slices; banana-nut bread slices; bagels; bread; banana-nut muffin; chocolate chip muffin; cream cheese; blueberry jam; hearty oatmeal and optional toppings (craisins, walnuts, granola clusters); orange juice; apple juice; 2% milk; watermelon; honeydew melon; yoplait yogurt (strawberry, peach, cherry); chocolate/cream twisted cake bakery item (shaped like a mini-croissant). The indoor pool area looked nice, though we did not use it; there were pool chairs available. Each of our family members used the fitness room on various night, and it had the standard few items, such as treadmills, ellipticals, and recumbent bicycle (but the bike's left foot piece was loose, and thus was unusable), plus plenty of free weights; the fitness room wasn't super large, but it wasn't tiny either, and it definitely was clean and pleasant to use. Outside of the fitness room and pool was a water fountain, along with a water refilling station, where we filled up our water bottles before heading out each day. The lobby-level restroom was clean and convenient to use. This hotel's location is also convenient to local shopping and nearby neighborhoods as well. Our focus was on seeing as much as we wanted in downtown and old Montreal first, but we did take a few side trips once we returned to our hotel. We wanted to try Montreal-style bagels, but didn't want to deal with the lines at the tourist spots downtown, so we made a quick trip from the hotel to R.E.A.L. Bagel a few blocks away to check that item off our to-do list; the bagels hit the spot, but we can't tell the difference from U.S. (NY) bagels, especially when loaded up with tons of cream cheese -- the bonus here is that a minute down the road, we drove by the huge St. Joseph's Oratory church that we saw from our hotel room! One evening, Mom and son walked from the hotel to the Walmart across the street to get a belt, since his belt broke on the day we arrived at the hotel. We checked out a Canadian Costco (Rue de Marche Central location) and picked up a fully-prepared chicken drumsticks meal one night; the warning here is that this Costco's parking lot was jammed up with about an hour or two before closing time, so that was a little scary -- for fun, we visit a Costco in every city we visit and we are Costco experts at home, where we know all about crazy parking situations, but I was afraid we were going to be stuck for hours when all we had was one chicken meal -- luckily, we were able to find an opening and squeeze out in time, no foul, no harm! Traffic getting to the hotel on the first day was a little tricky (and busy), but driving to downtown was fine and back to hotel on Friday was very manageable; we're not sure how the traffic is on the weekend, because that is when we switched to using the Metro. On Sunday morning, our son had to leave a day early; we were able to drop off him off at the YUL Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport very easily -- it's about fifteen minutes away, and there wasn't much traffic on that Sunday morning. On our last night (Sunday), Mom stepped outside the hotel and saw a food place (Presotea Westbury) that had bubble tea, so she and daughter ended their vacation on an extra happy note. All in all, this hotel was excellent for us: clean room, clean hotel; convenient location to both downtown and midtown Montreal; all the conveniences of home, including dishes; pleasant vibe, welcoming staff, great view, extremely quiet room and hallway/floor; and, Like New condition of building, both the exterior and the interior.

Check in staff very friendly . Our room was upgraded with a separate lounge and kitchen with a full fridge. Overall very clean though has hair strands across the dining and bathrooms which wasn’t pleasant. Self service coin laundry on 3rd floor, with room card access .Carparking garage easily accessible via elevators which was a plus. Breakfast had hot and cold options which was sufficient for our stay. Fairly new hotel , with an onsite Italian restaurant. Easy to walk to Starbucks, sushi place, supermarket and Mexican return. Overall very nice stay.

Facility was lovely. Front desk very courteous. Breakfast was very good. The kitchenette was very complete, even with pots, china, and silverware. But there were a lot of mistakes. Our room door was very stiff to close, and a housecleaner left it open all day while we were out- a security issue. Front desk said they’d send maintenance, but they never did. Housekeepers were erratic- one didn’t leave requested towels and another didn’t leave requested soap and forgot to do the bed or empty the trash. We couldnt use the safe, because it was locked: I had to call the front desk 3 times to get maintenance to reset it. The hotel never emailed the bill as requested, which has never happened to us, before. All-in-all, I nice place to stay, but in need of better service.

This was the worst hotel guest experience ever and I've been to 2 star hotels with better service than this. My friends and I booked with Hilton Homewood Suites for a girls trip during the long weekend and had a pleasant stay HOWEVER the after-vacation bliss was ruined by an email from their hotel director about damages that were done to the room toilet handle and charged us. You'll see screenshots from videos of a before photo when we arrived and after with the missing toilet handle (provided by the hotel). In our email exchange, the hotel manager specified that they "don't charge guests for fun". Believe me - paying for something that we didn't do is not fun either, so if you plan on staying here - make sure you have extra budget for hidden fees! The level of rudeness in the guest experience via phone and through email is awful and I would never stay here again. It's a shame too cause I would've left a raving review.

Homewood Suites didn’t feel as new as it is, but I liked the location and garage for cars with roofbin, close to the TransCanada Expressway or the airport & train station in Dorval. Even though many roads are one-way and there aren’t sights in the vicinity—besides Cummings House Holocaust Museum (with Budget rent a car on Van Horne), it was a fine. Our room was spacious with a mini full kitchenette and sofa besides bed(s). The place was good for meeting arrivals via YUL—exiting the highway (#15 exit 69) at the giant orange globe: Gibeau Orange Julep. Metro station Cote-Sainte-Catherine is between there (a couple blocks away) and Jewish General Hospital; with stations along the way…Cycling up Ave du Parc La Fontaine was nice to the Plateau Mont Royal-pond or up the mountain (10% gradient) to Belvedere Camillien Houde to enjoy the Oratory-pond. We liked the rental bicycle option downtown, too, after checking into room 619 /621 with a view. The second floor has the Armstrong boardroom for catered meetings, which a wedding party had booked. Two spas /salon were across the street, beside a supermarket or Presotea & Starbucks. Trudeau YUL airport is 15-20 min. away off TransCanada 40 / A.520 Cote de Liesse Express (Romeo Vachon Blvd N). This hotel locale used to be a Jewish now ‘trans’ village; yet I didn’t see kosher restaurants. We were not informed breakfast-room hours differ weekends vs weekdays, so we missed the complimentary breakfast once everything was promptly cleared at 9:30. There’s always dining off rue Jean-Talon nearby. Reserve in advance around Table 51, and you’ll be set to go!
