We just spent the weekend at the Hotel St Paul in Old Montreal. The style off the hotel is very "European"; the ultra modern interior contrasts with the old 1900's exterior. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The location is great; a few blocks to the old port, 3 blocks to the Metro, and about 10 blocks to...

This hotel is ideally located in the old historical district of Montreal. It is within walking distant for many restaurants and is perfect for shopping . The exterior is a lovely restored beaux-arts building. The bellman greeted us and made the access for checkin for easy. The valet for our car was $23 per day. The receptionist at the front...

I stayed at this hotel with my friend when we were in Montreal. While there, I had planned to get work done so we made sure to get a hotel with wifi. We were there for 4 nights and the wifi only worked for about 4-5 hours our entire stay there. The rest of the time, it was trying to...

We recently stayed at Hotel St. Paul for a long weekend. The location of the hotel is pretty much unbeatable, and the service that we were provided was above average at both the hotel and attached restaurant. On the back side of the hotel there are a few rooms that have windows facing each other with a fire escape in-between....

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
