Hotel de Paris has been hosting guests for over 30 years in the popular Plateau area of downtown Montreal. Housed in a beautiful heritage home, this hotel houses a variety of room types to satisfy every guest from low priced, small budget rooms to large executive suites. Be advised because of the nature and age of the building, all rooms are only accessible by stairs (No elevator). (No free parking cost 40$ per night)
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The beds were very comfortable, but my friends and I wished they had a top sheet. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly at all; grungy tub and sink, toilet was also dirty. We stayed in the two double bed room, and it was quite small. Breakfast was fairly standard for a continental, but outdoor patio/ breakfast area needed cleaning as well. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you're driving a truck, like we were, and are hoping to park it on-site in one of the three available spots, be aware that it is a TIGHT squeeze. You will also be asked to leave your keys at the front desk in case the vehicle needs to be moved; the parking spaces are simply down a private gated alley behind the hotel and cars are pulled in one after the other.

This hotel had plenty of charm, was really accessible and felt very authentic. It ticked off all the boxes for me when I was looking to stay for two nights as close to downtown Montreal as possible. There are not many places that offered any breakfast and come under $120 a night.

Well located, good breakfast at easy times for a tourist, from 8 to 10 a.m., excellent bedding although the bed is narrow for 2 people, very small but functional shower room with quality towels. As a solo traveler, this room was perfect for me and affordable. Almost everything can be done on foot from the hotel, less than half an hour from the city and artistic center, close to a metro station. Only downside: the sound insulation (I slept with earplugs), the ventilation in the bathroom is very noisy, but otherwise, everything is fine. There is even a hairdryer available, multiple sockets including USB at the small desk. In a word, I found my happiness there and instead of two nights, I stayed there for five nights.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the pictures for a long time! On the surface, perhaps, the hotel needs a general renovation. The staff was friendly and helpful so far but e.g. our bathroom was just finished. The bush has already broken down into its components. The toilet flushing was only possible with raised the water box cover

We absolutely loved our stay at the Hotel de Paris in Montréal. The location is excellent, our room was the one with the turret on the second floor (upgrade to this room! You will be glad you did!).
This room has a patio with a wonderful view of the city and is very large. The bed and bedding are super-comfortable. We enjoyed getting back to our room at the end of long days exploring—it was very relaxing. The room (and hotel in general) was clean and the architecture is amazing. Very nice European breakfast is included—and we liked the pub-style location in the basement of this historic hotel.
Why stay in a box among boxes when you can feel like royalty in a castle? We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel de Paris started of a bit rocky for me I waited for someone to help me check in but as the hotel is small and a bit short staffed it was understandable while staying at the hotel I noticed some small issues but that was due to the architecture and design of the building if your from Montreal you’ll understand especially when it comes to old buildings. While those where just my annoyances I was met with the most friendliest staff who do care about every guest in their room the rooms where decent and a little bit better for what I paid for however I do feel I could’ve had my moneys worth a little bit but my overall stay was amazing and for young travellers looking for a budget stay at a very affordable price with a location to all the best clubs bars shops and even museums I suggest staying at hotel de Paris if your a more seasoned traveller and would like to have a bit of a finer experience there other hotels around but I doubt they would be as affordable as hotel de Paris.
FYI I did my booking at hotel.com for an affordable price I suggest doing the same as well.

I enjoyed affordable and comfortable accommodations in a beautiful antique building. The room is small, and amenities are very modern and clean, while the building features some pretty art deco details. Like everywhere in this neighborhood, parking is something of a challenge, so if you can get the on-site parking (only 3 spaces!) it’s worth it. Light breakfast fare - continental style is included in the rate, and is served starting at 8 in the restaurant. The hosts who greeted me, Sami and Samia, were very kind and considerate, and made every effort to make me feel welcome.

I could hear the music coming from the bistro just below. No way to change rooms. Their parking (very expensive by the way) is limited in number of spaces, I had to park in Sherbrooke. Lunch was quite basic and the coffee (which had little aroma) was not hot enough. I will never return to this hotel.

This is a grand old hotel, well maintained. Since I was traveling alone, the room was an adequate size, but would not have been large enough for more than 1 person. It was, maybe, 12'X12'. A decent breakfast was included, but after 10AM, it was not possible to get any food in the hotel, or the immediate neighborhood.
Wifi was available and there was a nice sitting area in the lobby. Parking was difficult, but since I flew to Montreal, that was not a problem for me. The hotel was reasonably close (about 0.8 miles) to Eglise Saint Jean Bapiste, the music venue for my concert.

Actually... We are a pet friendly hotel. We allow pets in all our rooms that do not have carpet. There is a fee of $15/day per pet with a maximum of 2 pets. Ideally, we don't want our guests to leave their pets unattended in the room. If you absolutely must, please leave a contact number with the front desk in case we hear excessive barking.
