Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Our hotel is just half a kilometer from the Montreal Convention Center in the heart of downtown. We are surrounded by restaurants, government offices, museums, theaters, and historic attractions. Subway and bus stations are within three blocks, and we are just off A-720. Our rooftop terrace and expansive meeting spaces are ideal for Montreal events.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Hotel with spacious and well furnished rooms, very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with good equipment of towels and personal care products. Fast WiFi network. Breakfast, although not very rich, was set up in a spacious room and I never had to queue. The area is between Chinatown and the Old Port, in fact convenient for visiting two very characteristic areas of the city. The staff is particularly cold and inexpressive, both at checkin and checkout (where I was also denied the tax receipt, as I purchased the stay on Booking... first time in many years that I was given this motivation). The listing is misleading, because on Booking you see a tall skyscraper and one thinks you can stay on the upper floors; the reality this hotel occupies only the first 5 floors, so I was rather disappointed. The room cleaning was done quite hastily, 4 minutes of clockwork, a little more dedication (e.g. leaving a bottle of water in the fridge) would be appreciated, even considering the 300 EUR per night! There is a swimming pool and 3 jacuzzis, but the water was yellow, surely had seen better times!

Stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown Montreal Canada on September 23rd to September 25th, 2022. Our stay was quite pleasant, charming hotel, centrally located to many of the attractions including the Montreal Chinatown which started at the hotel front door. Therefore, all your desire for Chinese food can be met without any effort . Our room was clean and bright, and well-lit we had a really nice city view from our three sided all full-length glass wall, and window. Breakfast was quite nice, but terribly busy, it seems like Grand Central Station at breakfast time, which is because Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites apparently uses the same breakfast station, because it seems like both hotels are connected into one. Other than that, everything is quite okay , except front desk staff are not qualified to give information or directions , not enough hospitality skills, the hotel does not change currencies, and you must pay $28 per day to park at the hotel parking. Need to know a bit French to read sign and elevators floor. Overall good place to stay

I had a great time at this hotel, the location is great. Within a few short blocks, you are in the heart of all the places you want to visit in Montreal. The hotel is at the very beginning of China Town, its not pretty or even clean so don't expect much from Montreal China Town. The rooms are very comfortable and a decent size. Free breakfast was good only thing I found strange is that we were in Montreal Canada where everything is Maple flavored and at breakfast they had no authentic maple syrup. Just an observation not a complaint. One of my favorite things about staying at a Hampton Inn is the 24 hr Hot Coffee in the Lobby. Truthfully one of the main reasons I stay at Hampton Inns.... this one in Montreal unfortunately had warm coffee and no creamer they only had the carnation powdered creamer. But aside from that everything else was good. Clean, Comfortable Rooms, Good Mattress and Pillows and fabulous location.

The Hampton is in a good are area ,next to Chinatown entry to the Hampton is by the Chinatown gate entrance. There is construction going on which makes it next to impossible to check in. You have to drive to the side and enter the parking garage. Then down a super steep tight gate. Take a ticket and ride around to try and find a parking spot that a real car can fit into. Remember your spot number . Go up and check in. Then come back and have to wander around looking for your car. There's also no cell service. So your on your own lol. Leavings is even better .you pay At checkout and they give you a ticket that don't work. Then you gotta get out and ask a attendant who speaks very little English . And tell him your problem. He just gives a happy face .Goes over to show how it works and it don't work for him either. He makes a call and is even more puzzled and opens the exit gate. Now besides the parking issue. The hotels convenient to old town and if guess 7 kilometers from downtown. The rooms are nice and a nice pool.. The free breakfast was very good. Just get there early as it gets crowded. Another issue that's not the hotels fault is the bridge to old Montreal by the hotel is under construction. You have to walk a block down the street to get to the old town through more road construction. Another tip. Is they have roads torn up almost everywhere you walk in Montreal. A total mess. Overall hotels nice once all the road construction gets finished .The doggies rest area is non existent. We walked to back of hotel and found a few feet of grass and weeds to make them happy. They only go potty on grass. No pet dog bags . So,bring your own. We also had no loud noise as noted by others for 4 days.it was very quiet

We spent two nights in the hotel. First the plus points = we had a very large, fairly quiet room facing the inner courtyard (a generator or something similar on the roof in the inner courtyard made a lot of noise at times) and the hotel has a nice rooftop bar BUT, BUT, BUT... The hotel has a massive management problem and I can see this in the following points: 1. Check-in took over half an hour - the two employees were not only busy with the check-in and other guests' problems, they also had to answer the phones and take care of deliveries from parcel services - multi-tasking only works to a limited extent... 2. At first we only had bath towels and neither small towels nor a bath mat in the room - they were then delivered after a complaint 3. One bed was broken 4. Breakfast was pure chaos and 'chaos' is still a polite term for what happened there. Whether early at 8 a.m. or later at 9:30 a.m., neither the buffet nor the staff could cope with the rush of guests, the supply of dishes, cutlery, coffee, fruit, etc., etc. didn't work at all, some guests cleared the tables themselves out of pity for the staff.... 5. the main reason for the 1-star rating = when we got to our room at 5 p.m., the room wasn't made. A complaint to reception was in vain, at some point a room service employee knocked and gave us new towels.... Conclusion / recommendation = if you don't have sufficient capacity for the service, then you shouldn't book the hotel to capacity.

Coming from Nova Scotia, I don’t visit Montreal often but I have come for two concerts in the last 6 months. After having such an enjoyable experience at this hotel the first time, we decided to stay here again.
The front desk staff were extremely pleasant, and offered us toothbrushes and toothpaste because we forgot ours.
Rooms were clean, comfortable and the bathrooms came with a hair dryer, large shampoo & conditioner bottles on the shower wall and a large body lotion bottle on the bathroom counter.
Highly recommend!

Other reviewers commented on the rooftop bar, and that overshadows this hotel in every way. Our first room was uninhabitable due to the constant beat of heavy music from the club above. There was a line of people waiting down the block and filled the lobby. They have one elevator they try to reserve for access to the cub, leaving paying guests to wait on the other one. To make it worse, the ‘club’ elevator stops at all floors without a key. The ‘guest’ elevator requires a key to access the guest floors. They are inconveniencing the guest but proving no security to the elevator. When we returned in the evening, the floor was so sticky our shoes were sticking to the floor all the way up the elevator, down the hall and into the entryway of our room.
The location is convenient to get to Old Montreal and Cirque Du Soleil, but the immediate surroundings around the hotel were not the best environment for a family trip. The room itself was comfortable enough once we got moved to a quieter room. The front desk staff was wonderful and tried to help, but they have a difficult job when management chooses to run a night club in their hotel. If you are young and here to party you may be fine, but I would not bring my family here again.

Response from Alexandra Riva, General Manager at Hampton Inn by Hilton Montreal Downtown
Responded Jul 18, 2022
Dear Tom G, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We apologize for the issues you experienced while you were staying with us. But it is important for us to clarify one point: we do not have a night club at the hotel. We have a restaurant with terrace on the 6th floor. Two evenings a week, there are special events which perhaps attract a more clublike clientele, but we can assure you that all music stops and the restaurant closes at the latest by 9:30 pm on these nights. We take our guests' satisfaction to heart and it is our first priority. To this end, we have been working closely with restaurant management to take measures to ensure our guests have a peaceful and comfortable environment to enjoy. As well, we have additional staff members on our cleaning crew on these evenings to ensure that the hotel remains clean at all times. Thank you for helping us to improve.

First time to Montreal and we couldn't have chosen a better location! We went over a weekend where it snowed, which didn't slow us down one bit- it actually made the Holiday experience that much more invigorating. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Simon in the bar (Tiramisu) who was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were a really great size for a downtown property as most city hotels have rather small rooms and it was super clean. The bathroom shower was amazing. Breakfast was standard for any Hampton Inn- your basics. We walked to almost everything which was really convenient. For the 3 nights we stayed, we never took our car out. I would absolutely stay here again in the future!

My friends and I stayed at this property for a birthday weekend and had a great time. Location is prime for walking pretty much anywhere, at night we would walk everywhere as it was so close to the bars in old port and it felt safe. Staff were friendly and helpful. Included a decent breakfast but it gets busy so recommend going early! Rooms are updated and clean with comfy beds! Would definitely stay here again!
