Made a trip to Montreal for New Year’s Eve and had the new Hyatt Centric in my sights for a few months. Being a new hotel, there were not many reviews nor pictures, but I went in with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised.

Hotel’s location in Old Montreal feels private, away from the hustle and bustle, yet is in a great location for walking. On a side street of sorts, there’s no parking lot at the front, but you can park next to the hotel for loading/unloading and dropping car off for the valet. The valet parks the car at a garage beneath the hotel. The hotel/mixed use building is clearly marked with a Hyatt Centric sign and is really the only building on the street, so you’ll have no trouble finding it. Waze was able to easily locate the hotel for me.

The doors open to restaurant Cartier Arms on one side and the hotel lobby on the other. The lobby felt like a luxury apartment building to me. I was greeted by a nice woman at the front desk who checked me in. Upon check-in there was no mention of my Globalist status and I did not receive a room upgrade, but I did not mind and gave the benefit of the doubt since it’s still a new hotel.

My room was on the 5th floor and had a view of the Grand Rue de Montreal and clock tower — great for the NYE fireworks! The room felt large enough for my needs and I liked the upscale industrial vibe it gave off. Technology in the room was modern with digital keys, Chromecast, and motion activated lights on the bed and bathroom mirror.

There’s still some construction underway at the hotel — two of the floors are marked as under maintenance, including that of the upcoming rooftop bar. The outdoor courtyard is still under construction, but that didn’t have any impact on my stay.

I ate breakfast at Cartier Arms both mornings of my stay. Waitresses on both days proactively asked me my room number before bringing the bill and told me that my bill was covered for being a Globalist member — a nice touch that they’re well-trained! The restaurant felt classy, had good food, and will have a nice view of the courtyard once completed.

Overall, I was very happy with my stay. At 12,000 Hyatt points per night, I think it’s a great value for the stay. It was an amazing walking location, every single member of the staff I interacted with was pleasant, and the hotel felt classy. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again — I’m sure it will feel even classier once the construction is fully completed!

Had a pleasant stay here - nice, new and clean hotel. Was given a King Room on the 4th Floor facing the courtyard.  Cleaning staff here work hard but are a bit slow/understaffed (we came back to our room around 4 PM one day and room still hadn't been cleaned)

Front Desk was very efficient with my check-in and very helpful.  Was reviewing my charges on the Hyatt app after the first night of my stay and noticed a charge to my room which I didn't incur, and I brought it to the attention of the front desk, and then resolved it immediately, and within minutes. Great service.

Had signed up for the World of Hyatt Journey Across Canada Promotion for the extra 2000 points per stay.  Have already been credited the base points for my stay at this Hyatt Centric credit but still waiting for the extra 2000 bonus points.

We found calling an Uber to this hotel a bit unreliable. Some Ubers can't seem to find the hotel (they get redirected to a different location under the bridge) and then cancel, and we also had trouble getting an uber to the airport in the morning (front desk called a taxi for us instead which arrived at our hotel in minutes after waiting for 15 minutes for an Uber to accept our ride request).

Very clean and super new! Love that there’s a self-park option with in and out privileges for $25/day. Only downfall is the hassle to get to the parking lot. At first, was super difficult, but got the hang of it hours before check out 😅
Very friendly staff. I wouldn’t mind some breakfast option included considering the prices these days for hotels. I get that everyone has raised their prices, but it would help with little children instead of walking around to find anything outside so early in the morning.
Very clean rooms! There’s a feature at the bedsides and bathroom where when you walk, a dimmed light turns on to help you see - game changer! Love thé décor, thé ambiance, vibe and theme! Helpful and very kind staff. Will stay here again but will be better prepared for breakfasts.

Dear lesalberts, we listened to you. We are now offering as a service to our guest valet parking at the same rate to avoid any hassles getting to the self park, as well as direction maps to assist. We are just about to launch our breakfast package to meet the guests needs. We also took the opportunity to revamp our menu offerings and prices. Thank you for staying with us, we hope to see you again. Regards, GS.

My husband and I stayed for four nights over Thanksgiving. Every morning we were woken up by an incessant drilling noise starting around 7am and lasted into the late morning. When I asked about the noise I was told there was nothing they could do about it since the construction was happening in a different building. Apparently other guests also complained. There was no offer to move us to a different floor or somewhere else where it may possibly be more quiet. Every night we had to shower with lukewarm water on the hottest setting. I also called about that but nothing was done about it. Imagine coming back from a November cold in Montreal and stepping into a lukewarm shower. Yea.. On the last night my husband went looking for an ice machine, when he got close to reception he was stopped by a plain clothed maintenance man saying that he'd get the ice for him. My husband said he'd rather get the ice himself but the maintenance man got visibly irate and so he husband just handed him the ice bucket. About 10 minutes later, TWO male staff members (including the maintenance man) showed up at our door to bring the ice. Then the man pointed with a mocking grin and yelled "The ice!" If we weren't leaving early in the morning I would have left the hotel immediately. We brought this up with the front desk in the morning but they appeared indifferent. We're globalist members and we stay at Hyatts almost exclusively but this was the worst experience I've had at one to date! The staff in the restaurant were nice however and we had breakfast there most mornings.

I would wait a while before staying at this hotel. The staff is still learning.

I booked a Guest of Honor reservation for my wife and mother-in-law meaning they should have received Globalist amenities.

They ran into 3 issues:

Parking: It is Hyatt policy that parking be included on Globalist award reservations. The front desk told my wife that wasn’t included. I had to call in after the stay was completed to get those charges refunded.

Room Service: They asked my wife at check-in if she wanted room service. She said yes as she always does because she loves coming home to a clean room. She did not receive room service during her stay.

Breakfast: It is Hyatt policy that Globalist reservations receive complimentary breakfast or a replacement amenity. My wife was told that there was no such amenity.

The issues could have been redeemed with a little bit of care after the fact. I submitted a complaint and asked that Hyatt make up for my lost time (having to take care of the issues) and the inconvenience to my wife/MIL. In their response to my complaint, the hotel

1) Entirely ignored the room service issue

2) Stated that there were no breakfast charges on the bill (duh, after being told there was no breakfast amenity, my wife/MIL paid for breakfast themselves)

3) Stated that they refunded the parking fees (after I had to call the Globalist line and ask them to call the hotel to explain to them their own policy)

Honestly, that response was more insulting than the issues during the stay!

Anyways, I couldn’t get any assistance from Hyatt so decided to leave a review as my only recourse. Do better Hyatt!

Let this be the definitive REAL review of how great this place is. Looking at some of these reviews I wonder if we stayed at the same hotel.

As a Globalist, I’ve stayed at many hotels over the years (over 75+ nights a year across different properties), this is one of the best Centrics I’ve stayed at.

First all, this a brand new hotel in Montreal under the Hyatt flag so there’s always going to be some opening hiccups. Also this hotel is part of a mixed use real estate so while the hotel portion is finished some of the offices are not. The hotel has little to no control over what the developers are doing in other spaces. I anticipate folks who travel later in the year/in the future to have no issues here.

I stayed here for 5 night as a Globalist and was graciously upgraded to a Suite by the wonderful front desk supervisor Raul. There are only 5 Suites in the property as a whole, so this was even more special. The Suites have rainfall showers and a separate living room space.
The entire staff was wonderfully attentive but Raul made the stay; he remembered details about myself and my wife and sent up some thoughtful amenities as it was my first time in Canada.

Location is great, right in the middle of Old Montreal and nearby Chinatown. There is also great cafe, Chez Mere Grand steps from the hotel. 10-15 min walk from Chinatown, and Uber was very easy to grab (no more than a 5 min wait)

The restaurant attached to the hotel Cartier Arms also had great food (globalist breakfast pics attached), though given that it’s a restaurant independent from the Hyatt brand, there were some limitations on what we could order for breakfast as a Globalist. Breakfast starts at 7:30 AM. I have uploaded photos of the entire Globalist breakfast below. (French Toast is to die for!)

Hotel gym is standard; new equipment.
Sleep quality was good; I didn’t hear much personally from any construction (I was on floor 7), and the rooms have built in Chromecasts. There are motion sensor lights under the bed. WIFi speed was also fine; was able to stream Netflix no problem in HD.

If I had to nitpick, the accessible doors are somewhat finicky (I have a disability) but given the weather maybe that was for the best; also I couldn’t use the pool or rooftop bar due to seasonality.

Really looking forward to staying here again, it was truly a special stay.

Basic but good and new. The location is just slightly off centre from the old town but only a 10 minute walk. We drove so unsure about public transport. Valet parking is $25 per day, I suspect you could find free parking at the back but our first night in Canada we didn't want to risk it.

Staff were really friendly and helpful, bed was really comfortable and the room had everything you needed for a basic stay.

The big plus was the gym whi h was pretty well stocked for a hotel gym and also open 24 hours. There's not much immediately around as it's part of a new development but only 10 minutes to the north of the old town so accessible if you don't mind a walk.

Not fancy but everything you need from a city hotel without frills.

Dear Kate, great to read you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for choosing the Hyatt Centric on your trip to Montreal. Public transport is very good in Montreal, you have 2 metro stations 5 to 10 mins walking distance, that connect to downtown in minutes. Yes we are slightly off center, great for being in the heart of Old Montreal, in a peaceful quiet setting. Surrounded by our landscape gardens. Thanks again. Best Regards, GS.

Hyatt Centric has a very strategic location where the hotel also has good views and has very friendly staff. we hope this can be maintained.
only sleeper facilities in the room were not available so when we arrived at the room we had to ask for them where the slippers are a hygiene tool for someone to put their feet on the bed. That's all

This is a new hotel that is part of Hyatt's hip "Centric" brand, which we really enjoyed. It's within walking distance of Old Montreal and many wonderful restaurants & shops. The hotel is minimalist and cool, the staff is friendly and the food is descent. General Manager Kevin Gillespie upgraded us to an L-shaped suite with a few concrete walls that made it feel like an urban loft. The room design was smart, with lots of plugs, a sliding barn door to the bedroom and two entrances to the bathroom so it could be accessed separately from the bedroom and the living room. We'll stay here again.

Spent a couple of nights end of November and my stay was very comfortable. The hotel is brand new, having been opened for only weeks when I arrived. I didn't hear construction noises however it may be because my room was facing the outside. The front entrance is on the third floor off an overpass leading to Vieux Montreal, and there was clearly construction still going on at street level when I visited. Not even sure there was an accessible pedestrian entrance on the ground floor.

My room was well equipped with the modern convenience you can expect from a Hyatt Centric, including motion-activated lights around the bed and bathroom, a coffee maker replenished daily, and a very comfortable bed that put me to sleep faster than my own. The wood flooring is a nice touch. I didn't interact much with the staff, other than the receptionist who checked me in and she was as helpful and informative about getting around town as any concierge would have been.

I am a globalist and I didn't get an upgrade, but also I forgot to ask for one at check-in too.
