Neighbourhood
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.

Of our 8 dorms and rooms, only 2 do not have A/C. Usually, it's fine in the rooms without A/C, but on some exceptional days it can indeed be warm. For 2 or 3$ more per night, you could of have switch to a room...More

All the usual things were in order, very nice. What I particularly noticed was how fun and easy staff and other guests were to talk to, and most were good with French and English. I also walked around the area at night and found loads...More

- Cut my hand while descending from one of the metal bunk beds. (Watch for sharp edges near the joints) - In typical hostel style, there was a guy having phone calls from his bunk at 830am while everyone else in the room is sleeping....More

I stayed for two nights. Travelling by bike, they have a safe, indoor area to keep yourbike safe. There is no a/c in most of it, but they have fans. There are options for breakfast if you need an easy, cheap bite. I would stay...More
