Hotel St Denis is my go-to hotel when in Montreal--for the last 8 years. I've never had less than a great experience: always very clean; front desk staff always congenial, knowledgeable, and professional. The location is very convenient to metro, bus station/car rental, good eateries and sites. Not a chain--a plus in my book. Reliably perfect for my modest needs... More

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

A very nice independent hotel close to everything. Most tourist things within a 10 minute walk. Pleasant reception staff who are apt to speak English. Room small but clean. Good value for the price paid.

This hotel is conveniently located at the corner of St-Denis and St-Catherine streets. The room (2 very comfy queen beds) was really large and had a desk, mini-fridge and a loveseat. The room had this fabulous antique feel of montreal's older appartments built in the first half of the 20th century. The room was super clean and the staff very... More

The hotel was basic (but didn't lack anything), clean, and very well located (in the Quartier des Spectacles, not far from the Old-Montreal and Old-Port). Ths staff was helpful. Good price for what you get.

I was stuck and couldn't find a hotel, the manager went over the top to find me a room and accomodate me. The place is comfortable and clean and well located but there is no breakfast. However, a good breakfast can be found right down the corner. I rate this hotel tops for friendliness. One low point: a LOT of... More

Stayed here in September 2016. Front staff was excellent. Very nice people. The building is old but well maintained. Room was small but was travelling solo this time so the size was not an issue. It really felt like I had stepped back into time. The architecture and design had that feel. Narrow hallways. Big heavy doors. Crown molding around... More

The hotel was clean, basic and very central. Staff was helpful and made great recommendations for restaurants. 2 computers in the lobby and sitting area which was handy. A 10 minute walk to Old Montreal and other sites.

This hotel was is very basic, but that's what you expect for the price. It was very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the wifi was free and fast. A few minor cons: one-ply toilet paper and the tv remote didn't work any further then about four feet from the receiver. But overall a very good hotel,... More

Room was large with couch and the bathroom was newly renovated. Hotel looks like a dump from the outside but don't be put off by the outside appearance. Very clean and staff friendly. Sign outside states it is a 3 star hotel. I would say it is a 2 star and the price reflects that. Looked at a room in... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
