LHotel's eclectic and artistic ambiance, adorned with original artwork, captivates many visitors, though it's noted that some areas could benefit from an update. While the staff garners acclaim for their friendliness, there are mentions of occasional service lapses. Its enviable location in Old Montreal is a highlight for guests, offering proximate cultural explorations. Room experiences vary, with some guests enjoying the spaciousness and style, while others report poor lighting and the need for maintenance. Cleanliness is generally praised, but some guests point out value concerns, deeming the hotel overpriced given the room offerings and inconsistent amenities.

My husband and I stayed there 3 nights. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Bed was comfortable (pillows not so much, too soft for me). Great location, close to Notre Dame, old Montreal, restaurants, metro, underground... We wanted something different than hotel chains and we got that. I love the high ceilings! Our room was on ground level, room facing a parking lot, which at night has lights that face the hotel. I need dark to be able to sleep well but some light came through the side of curtains. The other issues were the drawer, the toilet paper holder, a lose shower bar, and housekeeper not putting wash towels one day and coffee any of the days there (you can get already made coffee in the lobby). We mentioned some of the issues on the third day and the helpful lady at front desk offered to move us to another room. We declined. Maybe management should make sure they check the rooms or that housekeeping reports issues. Don't count on having a countertop for makeup, lotions, etc. You can use the desk for that if needed.
Overall, because of a comfy bed, spacious room, great staff and location, it's a good hotel!

We loved our stay at this very unique hotel. Rooms were extremely quiet, very comfortable and bright with huge windows and high ceilings. The staff were friendly and ready to help at all times. We were just steps away from the very historic area of the city, from coffee shops and restaurants and a 20 minute walk from museums and art galleries on Sherbrooke and from the Place des Arts. Once our car was safely delivered by valet to a parking garage we didn't need it during the remainder of our visit. Would definitely go back!

This boutique hotel as charm and somehow kind of elegance. The staff is amazingly friendly and heping. They help you no matter what is the problem, even if it is a small one like no coffee capsules in the room at breakfast. We were visiting for only one day and this hotel seemed the best place to stay while celebrating a birthday day all around the old montreal. When we arrived, we were welcomed by the a very professional staff. Check in went fast and without any problem. We had a room on the 4th floor with city view which was really appreciated. The decor inside the roomis very relaxing, walls painted in blue lavender, paintings and drapes that matches perfectly a cosy and elegant ambiance that reminds me of England. Everything is super clean all over the place. The bathroom has everything you need but is a bit small ! All the hallways have modern paintings as well as the area close to the reception and the bar section. Decor is impressive everywhere you go. My only concern would be the light in the room, lots of lamps but, somehow, at times, would have appreciated more light.

I booked this place inspired by the reviews of the great location, the eclectic art, and the notes of great and well appointed rooms. The location and art did not disappoint, but the accommodations themselves were very underwhelming. The room was dated and dark; the shower barely squeaked out any water - making it challenging to even get soap off; the television was broken; the WiFi was really inconsistent. It also just didn't feel like an inviting space to spend any time in. For what we paid and what was named as being an 'upgrade', I was very disappointed. Just a note that we did really appreciate the bellhop's warm and welcoming demeanor - one staff highlight.

We LOVED L’Hotel MONTREaL!!!! It’s in a perfect location in old Montreal, within easy walking distance to Rue St Paul, the Vieux Port areas, and all the best shops and restaurants that a visitor to Montreal will want to explore! We stayed at the hotel for about a week. We had originally booked a lovely big room through the hotel website but they upgraded us to a fabulous suite, so they really spoiled us! We felt like royalty! I did see inside the room we would have stayed in and it looked beautiful and very spacious as well. I would have been very happy with the room I had originally booked. The king sized bed in our room was heavenly!! The decor and ambiance of the hotel is exactly the right combination of antiques to reflect the age of the building and area, combined with incredible art pieces everywhere in the hotel that ranged from classic to contemporary to pop culture, with a playlist of music that compliments the mood within the hotel. It all works to create a fabulous environment throughout the hotel! We couldn’t get over all the signed posters of famous movies and photographs of famous people! Each floor was like an art gallery, and the main lounge/bar on the main floor was so inviting, friendly to all ages, and fabulous! The staff were all so friendly, welcoming, capable, and ready to help with whatever we asked about. The breakfast room was so inviting and stylishly decorated as well. The second I walked into the breakfast room, I fell in love with the great playlist of music and loved the delicious choices at the breakfast buffet. Book the valet service at this hotel if you have a car, since the street outside the front us quite busy - it made bringing a car here much easier. We can’t recommend this hotel enough - we’ve told all our friends and family to be sure to stay here the next time they visit Montreal! Thank you L’Hotel, for a wonderful stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Lhotel for my birthday. The hotel room is beautifully decorated with a lot of space. We booked this hotel because the room had a tub; after a long road trip and a planned massage, a long soak would be divine. We were disappointed because the room did not have a tub. We shared our disappointment with the front desk staff, and he explained that we had a steam shower— we were pleased. When I tried the shower, the shower knobs fell off—the overhead rain shower worked, and that was it; nothing else in the steam shower worked. We reported this to the front desk early Saturday morning, and they asked if we wanted to move rooms. Unfortunately, we heard nothing about the moving of rooms again until Sunday, when the key stopped working; the staff at the front desk told us that we were in a different room. My boyfriend explained to the staff that this was not communicated to us. Overall, visually the room was lovely; however, much more attention needs to be given to the room— the fact that the main feature of the shower did not work is a problem. Also, when I opened the hatch to store some items, the handle fell off. That room should not be given to guests! Much more attention needs to be given to the functionality of the room. We were disappointed because the room was falling apart, and we received poor service!

I traveled with a group of 7 couples and everyone was very pleased with their rooms. They had different classes of rooms from Presidential to Standard Queen and all found the beds and pillows excellent, interesting and classy furnishings, loved the high ceilings, the eclectic assortment of original paintings and prints. Comfortable lobby too. Be sure to walk down the staircase to look at the Movie Posters signed by many of the stars.

Our room was an Executive style King with a fantastic view of the 19th century building across the street. Huge bathroom, all marble, wonderful lighting, magnifying mirror, walk-in shower with a bench.

There are always little problems as you travel but the measure of an excellent experience is when the staff at a hotel jump in and solve them immediately. Stefan and his team took care of all of our issues to our complete satisfaction.

If you are in a wheelchair, or if you need help with heavy luggage, there are stairs into the lobby from the street. The lobby staff is very proactive in helping those who need it. There are elevators once inside the lobby. Some bathrooms are equipped with grab bars. Be sure to ask about it when you book.

The morning buffet breakfast was high quality but lacked bacon. Probably a conscious choice. A bit expensive at 25$C

Location is perfect.

I'll happily stay at this hotel again.

2nd stay at this hotel, as pleasant as the first time. Very welcoming staff, beautiful place. It feels like a museum, even in the bedroom, there are so many beautiful paintings hanging everywhere. The ceilings of the rooms on the 2nd floor are at least 12 feet high, the decoration is neat and different in each room, the bedding is delicious and the beds ultra comfortable, the cleanliness is well taken care of. The lighting is warm in the rooms (we are very sensitive to this).
Staying there greatly enhances our stay in Montreal. In addition, we are a few steps from the Notre-Dame basilica where the exterior Christmas decorations are magnificent with superb nighttime light displays. You can walk to the colorful Chinatown in 10 minutes, then 5 minutes later to the lively square in the entertainment district where there is an outdoor Christmas market that is definitely worth the detour, all on foot! Corner Clark and Ste-Catherine, a 5-minute walk from the Christmas market, there is a refrigerated outdoor ice rink in the city center (free access, skate rental $13/adult). Before Christmas, it's time to get into the holiday spirit!!
We will definitely return to stay at the hotel, we love it so much!!!
I hope this review doesn't drive up their prices by increasing demand!!

My wife and I stayed at LHotel for 3 nights (Fri, Sat, Sun) the first weekend in October 2022 in the Presidential Suite and it was a great experience. The hotel is filled with artwork on every wall in the room, lobby, and hallways with some great pieces to admire for just about any taste. Overall the decor, furnishings and general vibe of the place makes it a fun place to be. The hotel feels very "Montreal" and French, but all of the staff we met is at least English/French bilingual.

The property was very clean everywhere including the room and bathroom, and the bed and linens were crisp and good quality. Every interaction I had with the staff was great, and people seems happy to be working there (which is a good sign compared to some places we've stayed). Parking is valet only, but we arrived on a motorcycle. We unloaded luggage in front of the hotel, and the valet was happy to show me where they park guest cars, escort me there, and allow me to park and secure the bike in the underground deck they use for valet parking. Secure parking in Old Montreal can be an issue at some places especially for motorcycles, so this was a nice perk.

It's located only a couple of blocks from all of the things you might want to see in Old Montreal, so we were able to walk to the Basilica, harbor, lots or great places to eat, cafes, and shops and still stop back at the hotel for a break when we needed it.

Price-wise it was on-par with some of the other hotels in the immediate area (none of them are cheap), and was a much more enjoyable stay than a chain.

Overall it was a great experience, and this would be the first place I'd book when I'm back in Old Montreal.

We were in Montreal for an overnight get away and chose the LHotel to stay in Old Montreal. This area of the city is so charming and full of character. The hotel is perfect for walking anywhere in this district and also close to the metro.
We used the valet parking service which is very handy indeed and the car was brought to us within a few minutes of checking out.
The front desk service is very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom was great and the bed very comfortable. From our experience we would recommend this hotel.
