Hotel Faubourg Montreal's service has received commendations for staff friendliness and helpfulness, although opinions on staff courtesy and efficiency are mixed. The hotel's prime location is a highlight for guests, providing easy access to downtown Montreal's attractions. However, the value is perceived to be lessened by the outdated rooms and steep parking fees, despite some guests finding the rates reasonable.
While the spacious rooms and variety at breakfast are popular, there's a consensus that the hotel could benefit from modernizing its rooms and amenities. Issues with cleanliness have been noted, with some guests suggesting improvements are needed.

Centrally located hotel within walking distance of downtown Montreal to visit. The room was like an apartment surprised us its spaciousness, comfortable beds, a living room office in another room and kitchen office. To be improved: the kitchen has no dishes or the minimum utensil if you need to cook or heat something (puts up a sign that you have to order it at reception.... Something I see very uncomfortable because you don't even have dishes if you want to heat something in the microwave....) Very large refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom is fine but it could be improved. We did not like the treatment of two of the receptionists who were even very unfriendly and did not offer good answers to our doubts, one of them told us that she could not let us know if any room was available before 16h (rainy day when we arrived and until 16h we were not allowed to enter room, which I understand but it would be appreciated if they could let you know if any remains before available as other hotels do). On the other hand, the other girl who attended us also did not know Late Check-out prices or schedules or anything, it seemed that she did not feel like talking and did not smile. Something you'd have to oversee because it's a key dept. On the contrary, the tall and slim young morning boy was very attentive and Pro served us very well:-)

Hotel room was huge, lots of space around the bed + armchair and desk with full kitchen too. Location was fairly convenient to the Central station, St Catherine Street with lots of restaurants, the airport + about a 20 min walk to the old town. Breakfast included was fairly basic but did the job and was unlimited with a decently large time frame so was quite convenient. The main drawback is the rooms are very gloomy. One room in our suite didn’t have any overhead light just a small, fairly dim lamp and small window so was never very bright even in the day and everywhere else was fairly gloomy too. I saw complaints here about cleanliness but we didn’t really have a problem - the rooms are a bit dated with some signs of wear but felt clean enough and with daily housekeeping, towels and bed linens and the bathroom seemed pretty clean. For the price it was a large and comfortable hotel room in a suitable location but also nothing special.

"Just ok" hotel, but at a good price point and decent location.
Location: about a 12 minute walk to Old Town, 8-10 minutes to nearby Orange or Green subway lines. Lots of restaurants nearby (Le Central food hall, chinatown) if you don't want to go to Old Port, also mall and grocery store a few blocks away if you forgot anything. Our Ubers to/from the airport were $40. The airport bus passes right in front of the hotel.
Breakfast: average, but free! Always had juice/coffee/etc., cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels/toast, oatmeal, baked beans (?), and premade waffles you could toast. Then some rotating things included hash browns, eggs, sausage, bacon, etc.
Hotel condition: could use some TLC. Nothing was awful or broken, but really needs a fresh coat of paint and new hardware, etc. As of July 2024, there was major construction across the street. It never started before 7am nor went late, but may be a point of concern for some.
Room: we had the 2-bed room with a kitchenette. No silverware or dishes provided, apparently you have to ask for them. No in-room safe. Bathroom toiletries provided: hair dryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Iron provided. YOU CANNOT ADJUST THE TERMOSTAT. It is only on or off, with a big sign reminding you of this. This is probably one of the biggest annoyances we faced.
If it was within my budget to stay elsewhere, I would, but if this is your price point, it's not a bad choice.

We were on a package holiday and this was our fourth 3 star hotel. I could have cried when I arrived and saw our room. We were upgraded to a suite. This hotel is very dated, apart from painting the walls the rooms are extremely tired but clean. The furniture was probably made before I was born and the bathroom and kitchen needed ripped out. I don’t think the hotel has been renovated since it opened. We were bed and breakfast but we opted to eat out. The plates, cups and cutlery were all disposable. This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again nor would I recommend. The only positive is the reception staff were nice and it’s near the old town.

The only thing that made this hotel. worth staying in was the location. I did not receive the CAA member discount I was promised over the phone, the receptionist threw me off my game by forcing me to park my vehicle before I could check in. There was also a verbal altercation in the lobby between two guests when I returned from parking, which made my girlfriend and I unsettled. The staff did nothing about this. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette, which only had a microwave to heat food. When utensils were requested, I was shocked to learn that the hotel only provided paper plates and wooden utensils. This made preparing any food challenging. The breakfast options were dismal, and the seating was not comfortable. The room was okay, but the floors seemed dirty. The shower only had tiny squeeze bottles for shampoo and body wash.

We had problems at EVERY turn. Elevators not working, staff were very rude, room’s disgustingly dirty, we were told we could have late check out then told we couldn’t, hot water didn’t work after 11am (we are pretty sure they turned it off at regular check out time, even though we were charged $51.74 for late check out after first being told it would be $17.25 for late check out). The carpets were visibly dirty, there were no blankets or pillows in the room for the pull out after we had both indicated we were a party of 4, paid for accommodations for 4, and Called ahead to let them know that our party of 4 would be arriving later in the night as we were travelling from Ontario. The elevators were not working, so we ended up having to carry our 6 suitcases and approximately 6 bags from the 8th floor to the basement parking garage by hand and stairs while tending to a 4 and 6 year old. There were also used cigarette butts in the stairwells. When my spouse asked the multiple employees standing at the front desk if we could get a cart, or if they knew where we could get a cart, he was told no and then not one person asked if we needed help getting our belongings to the car. There was what appeared to be a powdery white drug like substance on the pullout couch of the original room we were given, the staff offered to come and clean it but I did not feel comfortable letting my babies sleep in that room and asked if we could be moved, to which they did move us. The next room wasn’t ideal, was also dirty, but it was very late and we were exhausted. The pull out bed was cleaner however, and I felt ok letting the kids sleep on it after a close inspection. If it were earlier, I would have asked for a refund and stayed somewhere else.
Breakfast appeared to have a good selection however, we arrived 20 minutes before breakfast was done and the staff were already removing the food and turning off the juice machine. I literally had to ask them to give me some food for my kiddos, and to turn the juice machine back on. These staff were also quite rude in their responses.
Very saddened by our experience, please save yourself the headache and money!
The $250 we spent was not worth the horrible experience we had. I’ve never felt so unsafe in a hotel in my life, and that is saying something, as our family stays on approximately 20-30 hotels a year.

Clean hotel very close to Chinatown. Despite having rugs throughout, there were no musty odors, which even my kids noticed. The staff was very helpful when I mistakenly booked a single bed with a pull-out couch through a third-party app. The manager personally showed me other rooms to choose from, which I really appreciated. I initially booked for the secure underground parking and central location, but the cleanliness exceeded my expectations. I will definitely recommend this hotel!

Checking in was super easy with great staff, everyone was nice and welcoming. However we quickly became disappointed as our stay of 6 nights was not catered to expectations. We had to call on our third day for extra towels as room service did not clean our room, then had to call again as that request wasn’t met. Eventually we got towels but asked about room service and the receptionist said they come every two nights. We were fine at this point until after our fourth night and still didn’t receive any room service. No extra towels, garbages overflowing, ran out of soap etc. We called the front desk again and they assured us kindly we were now on a "priority list", which reassured us. But unfortunately again we didn’t receive any service until our last night after physically going up to the front desk and asking again for our room to be cleaned. Throughout all this our do not disturb sign was never put up. Very unsure what happened. Great place as for location and the room itself wasn’t bad either! Friendly staff and free breakfast was a good bonus. They even allowed us to keep our bags in the lobby as we had a late flight after checking out! However the inconvenience of having to feel like a nuisance to the hotel staff just to get a clean room severely impacted the quality of our stay.

Hotel is tidy, but tired. Bathrooms and furniture is showing its age and could use a facelift.
Had a 1 bedroom suite. The suite was missing the kitchen table and chairs, and there were no dishes in the cupboards. You had to request dishes and cutlery at the front desk, all of which was disposable (wooden utensils, ick).
Breakfast was included, which was your basic buffet fare (powered eggs, etc), but despite the breakfast space being very busy, the staff kept everything topped up pretty well. Coffee was good
Staff was friendly and professional. For the price (really good Expedia deal), it was fair value, but don’t think I’d return.

This hotel is in a great location and offers free on sight parking in an underground garage. Parking is expensive in Montreal. It has breakfast included which was a typical hotel spread and a gym which is a little sparse but still worked. Plus the rooms have a kitchen with a separate bedroom with a door. Perfect when you’re on the phone and spouse doesn’t need to listen. I would definitely stay here again.
