Our stay at the Hotel Nelligan was fantastic. We came in for a weekend getaway and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is located in the old part of Montreal (roughly 20 minutes from the airport). It's very close to the water and surrounded by many restaurant options. The hotel is small (only 5 floors) but that's what I liked about...

I stayed at the Nelligan for two nights in early November and was very impressed by the service and quality of the hotel. The concierge is among the most helpful I've ever had, and the rooms were spacious, clean and very nice looking. I had read complaints about street noise being an issue--perhaps it was the time of year, but...

Just returned from three nights at Hotel Nelligan. Great hotel! Rooms are nice, location can't be beat and the staff was very attentive. Anything we needed, they took care of it. The concierge (Natalie I believe is her name) got us a last minute reservation at Bocata (which was incredible as well). Thanks to the whole staff at Hotel Nelligan.

My husband and I went to Montreal for a night for our honeymooon. I found Hotel Nelligan on Trip Advisor. The hotel is LOVELY. Everyone is very friendly. From the gentlemen working the valet, to the folks at the check-in counter, the bartender. We felt a little out of place, but really that's because we generally do not stay at...

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. Service was amazing, everyone is so pleasant, our room was unbelievable, I believe we were upgraded, and the location of this gem is ideal, right in the heart of old Montreal. Walk everywhere and the metro is an easy walk if you want to go into the new city. I...

It is not a small boutique hotel but runs like one which is very nice. Employees at reception, concierge, restaurant and bellmen were courteous and helpful. We upgraded to a petite suite and the room size is huge as is the closet. The bathroom had a separate tub and shower and very good soaps and lotions. There is an electric...

I expected this boutique hotel to be stylish and edgy, but traveling with my 15 year old daughter, I always hope for friendly. We checked in very early, arriving off a cruise, they not only accommodated us, they upgraded us to huge room with a fireplace, extra seating areas, the works. The staff were exceptional.

We stayed here as part of the Cingleton conference, and were extremely impressed with the rooms, the amenities, and above all, the food provided by the hotel for the conference. The location in Old Montreal is extremely nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
