We were totally thrilled when we walked into this hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the hotel is beautiful! Our room was huge with a very large, gorgeous bathroom. We didn't even want to leave our room. The hotel is in a great location for exploring the old town. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to...

I was in Montreal for business and as often happens, I need to work in my hotel room quite often. I was so pleasantly surprised when I walked into my beautiful, spacious, elegantly appointed room. There were two French door windows that opened to let in the fresh air and attached to the wrought iron railing were window boxes with...

One of the most well designed hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Exceptional attention to detail down to the Nespresso machines in every room. Great location near many wonderful restaurants. We will definitely stay at the Hotel Gault during our next trip to Montreal.

Gorgeous vistas and architecture in old Montreal make the walks to and from the hotel an experience of its own. The hotel building is stunning and the interior is simply finished with contemporary design and furniture. Artwork in lobby is interesting and the setting is inviting. The room is simple and effortless. Only blip was that the carpet and furniture...

Spent 3 days in Montreal. Hotel Gault is well situated in old Montreal, a few blocks from Notre-Dame Cathedral. Only a short walk to the metro. Several quaint cafes nearby. Hotel is small. Good concierge service. Internet. Cute bathroom with free-standing tub. Friendly staff, even if you don't speak French. No complaints.

A small modern up to date boutique style hotel inside an architecturally wonderful old building. Personable and professional staff that attended to all our needs. Rooms were exceptionally clean, quiet location with food and beverage service available. IF only every hotel had the same attention to details with the same professional staff travel would be much more fun. Highly recommended!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
