I cannot say enough as to how much we enjoyed staying at Hotel Gault. The location is centrally located & the staff at the hotel was exceptional particularly Joey (who advised us on the most interesting places to go he even wrote out directions) & Brithney. Everyone was extremely friendly & helpful answering our questions. Our room was a “suite junior” perfect for a couple. They offered full maid service & turn down service at no extra charge if you wanted it. Their breakfasts were excellent “Eggs Benny” delicious. We look forward to going again.

We decided to visit Montreal for a birthday weekend after not being here in about 20yrs. We chose Hotel Gault and stayed in the Terrace Deluxe room on the 5th floor (top floor) which is limited to a few rooms. Our room had an open floor plan where the bedroom and living area is separated by a tall desk and closet. The bedroom led onto a small terrace that had a high top table and two chairs. There are views of other buildings but it was refreshing to wake and open these double doors onto this landing . There was a small kitchen area with sink and small refrigerator which didn’t have drinks on sensors that usually take up space and doesn’t allow you to add anything. The hotel itself had a sleek minimalist design with great black and white photos lining the walls. There wasn’t a main lobby bar so it was very quiet, but the location gave you access to all the hottest restaurants and bars within a few blocks. Minor details would include low lighting in the bathroom and no onsite sundries store. But we look forward to coming back and staying with Hotel Gault. Each staff member was consistently pleasant and helpful with questions.

We were pleasantly surprised to be given a fabulous upgrade to our reservation - to a much larger room with a wrap around terrace on the 5th floor. Everything was tastefully done and no details left out from good quality sheets and toiletries (Molton Brown) to an afternoon treat brought to our room. We only stayed one night but wished it had been more.
the front desk staff were very helpful; they even gave us proper milk for our morning coffee in room, with a Nespresso machine, our favorite.
the location is in an area of old Montreal undergoing lots of reno so some of the surrounding streets were a bit yech however just around the corner was a cool refurbished building- the old Royal Bank of Canada which had a cafe/co working space inside called the Crew Collective.

Beautiful boutique hotel in iconic old montreal. Stunning historic building. Exquisite and spacious hotel suite with amazing amentiities. Only issues are: staff at reception needs more trainif re customer service. Valet parking is ambiguous : $42 for overnight parking incl next day However told to evacuate by 2pm and checkout is as early as 11am ($50 surcharge per hr for late checkout ) Much needs to be re service yet hotel as a hotel is great re cleanliness and location is key

My husband and I visited the hotel for a much needed relaxing getaway with high expectations, which were thankfully all exceeded! We had a junior suite from Wednesday to Sunday. The room was so beautiful and spacious, it was hard to want to leave! After walking around the city all day it was a dream to return to the well done turn down service (soft lighting and music) and the big soaker tub. The bed was very comfortable and it was one of the quietest hotel stays we’ve ever stayed at. The staff was always genuinely friendly and gracious. The location with the beautiful corner door was so convenient for walking at night in old Montreal and getting dinner and breakfast with lots of options near by. A favourite was grabbing breakfast scones at Olive and Gourmondo and eating them at the old port or one of a few parks with benches near by. I can’t imagine wanting to stay anywhere else, every need was exceeded! Thank you so much Hotel Gault for the wonderful trip!

As a frequent worldwide traveler, I have decades of experience in hotel hospitality and can generally find an area where something is lacking or upgrades are needed, even in five star locations. Not the case with Hotel Gault. My stay was flawless and completely enjoyable. The location is excellent, on a quiet street in Vieux Montreal, unlike many of the other fine hotels which were on a busy thoroughfare. Receptionists were helpful, the room spacious and serene, there was ample lighting (this is one of my pet peeves in a hotel, poor lighting especially bedside) and storage, wonderful bath products and a large bottle of mineral water each night at turndown. I could not find a single thing that was lacking. Wonderful hotel, all around.

I really wanted to love this hotel. Its "minimalist" approach doesn't do justice to the beauty and history of its facade. It is way too stark.
We had a deluxe loft which is basically a king bed in the middle of a room. There is virtually no horizontal surface other than the bed. Yes, the bed is in the middle of the room. Good if you're a creator wanting to make spicy content, but otherwise odd and inconvenient. The one small table was taken up by the coffee service and there was only one chair. There is no convenient power by the bed. You'll charge your devices on the floor in the opposite corners. The ceiling is high, so the light is kind of diffuse (hence, dim). And it echos and is without white noise, so if your partner breathes heavy, you'll hear it well. And you'll also hear street noise (we heard car races late Friday night) and hallway noise.
The bathroom is behind the bed (there is a sheer curtain for aesthetics). Lighting is awful. There is no vanity, very little surface area, hardly any hanging space (taken up by their two huge robes), and only two hooks (one for each of the only two bath towels). The shower is big and powerful.
The lobby is equally stark, completely consumed by meal service tables throughout the entire lobby (all sides). The one tiny corner with a high top and comfy couch to talk or work was roped off for a private event one of the days. So, basically, there was no way to get work done in this hotel.
This hotel is all design and form, and really not about function. Despite it being really well serviced (very accommodating staff) and very clean, there are much better options in the old city.

I wanted to book a reservation for a corner suite but accidently booked a regular suite online. I called to make the switch to the corner suite which was confirmed over the phone as no problem. Upon arrival (I drive a pickup truck and was anticipating valet parking) we were told they no longer have Valet parking and we would have to park two blocks away in an underground lot. We went there and the underground parking could not accommodate the height of my truck. We returned to the hotel and were told of some other lots to "try". We ended up parking three blocks away at a cost of $25/day. So we then walk to the hotel and check in and when we got our room it was not the corner suite we had requested but at this point we just wanted to explore the city on a beautiful spring day and said to heck with it. The staff were very friendly and professional and the bed was very comfortable but the location was less than ideal especially walking back at night as the streets were dark and many drunken nightclub patrons stumbling around.

Hotel Gault's staff were great, helpful, and courteous (especially Brian and Noks). We came earlier than the usual check-in time, so my husband and I roamed the area, which is very close to Old Montreal attractions. The hotel has a luggage storage area, so we are not worried about our luggage while waiting for our room to be ready. When we came back, we were told that our room had been upgraded to a nicer one, which made our stay in this hotel much special.
Pillows are so huggable. We had a very nice and relaxing sleep.
Breakfast was really good. We had our breakfast delivered to the room as we wanted to relax and watch TV while having our meal.
Cleanliness: The room is really clean, the towels are new, and the toiletries are good, but they need to pay more attention to maintaining and deep cleaning the toilet bowl and bathroom, as they are very close to getting a bad review.

As many other guest mentioned, there are usually no noise coming from the streets although we are located in the Old Port. We made some renovations on the facade which involved having a scaffold and workers but it has been disassemble last week.
