Loved the hotel! We got there late Friday night and it was an extremely cold night as well. The receptionist was so friendly and helpful. We checked in right away, and then she helped us find our way around the city for food and entertainment. She was one of the best parts of our stay because she was so friendly...

I love Montréal but I now live the Deep South of the USA and public transportation in Mississippi is a virtual non-entity, so all the walking around in Montréal can be a bit challenging. Having such a centrally located "Pied-à-Terre" as a base to wander around the wonders of Montréal and old Montréal is incredibly conducive to exploring by Metro....

A nice quiet Hotel a few blocks away from the main attractions. The hotel lobby and public guest areas were quiet small. Sort of reminded me of a small boutique hotel. The room on the other hand was a lot bigger than expected. The Disco ball light by the bed was funny. Free wifi through out the building. Two free...

It was our fist time in a Meridien property. This hotel is very nice and well situated. It is close to all what downtown Montreal has to offer: museum, shopping, galeries, etc. Our was was on the 14th floor. The room was large and well appointed. The bathroom was also large. The bed was very comfortable. My only concern was...

I stay here frequently for business and it's a great little hotel. Some of the rooms are renovated and really nice. While others are still dated. Be careful what's offered as an upgrade. On a recent visit I was offered an upgrade to a 'corner suite' - yes it was much bigger than the other rooms I'd had on previous...

In Montreal, my hotel of choice is Le Meridien Versailles, located on Rue Sherbrooke, just a few blocks from Rue Sainte-Catherine, one of the main commercial streets in the city. It has easily become my home away from home with most of the credit clearly belonging to the hotel staff, from those who work at the front desk, to housekeeping,...

Hotel was surprisingly down at the heels for a Meridien property. Slightly grubby, terrible sound-proofing in the rooms. Location was very good and staff were very nice. Overall a mediocre experience.

We parked the car where the staff told us to park. We gave the staff our keys so the valet could park the car. Twenty minutes later the car was parked in their alley-like lot with video surveillance. Dear Guest, We apologized for the inconvenience that was caused to you during your arrival to the hotel, in our defence your car was left unlocked , unattended on a city street in the late night hours for which there are no cameras. Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.

Various details of design/ fittings/ finishes/ accessories attracted us as being neat/ different BUT... drawbacks we hit:

- In our room (a junior suite), be prepared to get down on your knees to operate the room safe as it is conveniently (not) located about 6" above ground level. For some, no problem, but at our age and with our arthritics, a major problem. So we just didn't use it.

-The elevator buttons have a circle of light round them when pushed. But there is no light to make it easy to see on the panel WHICH FLOOR you want. Why on earth put a dark number embossed on a similar dark background? Absolut nuts. We saw other people having the same problem, needing to peer at the panel from a few inches away!

-First hotel we've used in 40 years where there was no walk-in shower - you had to enter the tub to use it. For us, a major concern there was no grab handle to help getting on or if we should slip.

- Service charming but slapdash. Imagine ordering croissants and jam, and getting croissants with mayo and ketchup! And the ONLY place in decades when you ask for a cup of coffee it literally comes in a cup covered with plastic wrap. Which fails to keep it hot on the trip from the kitchen to the guest room. Why on earth not have small pots/vacuum flasks like everyone else?

-Service again. Charming but ... at the desk we asked for our check while we waited for the taxi to come. Guy says sure and goes to computer but is immediately diverted by another guest wanting some tourist information. Why didn't he complete our check first? 5 minutes later taxi comes, no check. We say we're leaving, he says he will email the check. One week later we call and say where's the check? They say sorry, don't know why it wasn't sent, maybe we mislaid your email address. Gimme a break!

- As weekend tourists, a huge disappointment that, after returning from dinner out on saturday night, we could not go to the hotel bar because it and the restaurant were closed for a private function.

- there were other things but I can't recall them now.
