We just spent a delightful five nights at the A la Carte B&B and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Very comfortable accommodation. Unbelievable breakfasts. I am not a big breakfast person but I found myself eating everything put in front of me. And on top of that the hosts are so welcoming. And willing to help me with my French language acquisition. We will be back!
Amazing experience. Wonderful hosts. My wife and I enjoyed our stay at A la Carte during our recent first-time visit to Montreal. I cannot say enough about the hosts. Daniel and Petra are lovely human beings, very caring and extremely helpful. Petra's guidance regarding what, where, and how to visit sites in Montreal was a lifesaver. The location is close to everything and provides the quiet you need for your vacation. Food..Daniel's creations are just so delicious, and you will never get tired of his stories. Breakfast time talks are just so enriching. Staying at A la Carte added a beautiful dimension to our visit to Montreal. Thank you, Daniel, Petra...
This was our second time staying at A la Carte, and we felt as though we were visiting old friends. Petra and Daniel are truly remarkable hosts--charming, warm, and helpful--and we love dear aging M. Petit. We spent each morning chatting with our hosts and eating a delicious breakfast, and then set off to explore the city using the easily accessible bus and metro. The room (Julliard Suite) we stayed in is spacious and clean, and the neighborhood is full of shops, restaurants, and interesting streets and alleys to explore.
My best choice for my adventure trip with my Daughter, I felt as at home with Family, Petra and Daniel are very kind people and as hosts very nice and professional. Everything is clean, the decoration of the room is perfect, they offer abundant and delicious breakfast. Petra suggested me the places to visit and explained the way to get there. The cherry on the cake, "Monsieur Pettit " such an adorable dog. For sure we will come back in the future. I highly suggest.
The two of us were favoured with the hospitality of Daniel, Petra and Monsieur Petit for four days in July this year. The Julliard Suite was wonderful, parking was most appreciated, and the location near active streets and attractions was very desirable. This B&B is very clean, very well appointed, and has hosts that become friends in very little time! And the food… oh the food.. a different breakfast every day, discussed with us the night before, and tailored to our diet and our wishes. We have recommended A La Carte enthusiastically to our friends, and we will definitely stay there again on our next visit to beautiful Montreal.
My husband spent a night at A la carte B&B in Montreal and loved everything about it! To be honest, the place exceeded our expectations. The hosts, Daniel and Petra, are wonderful (and their poodle is adorable, too!). Their place is literally perfect -- spotless, super comfortable bed, and Daniel and Petra anticipated every detail that makes for a perfect stay. Also, the breakfast was delicious! They know their neighborhood & offered great restaurant suggestions. We can't wait to stay with them again!
A la Carte Bed & Breakfast truly sets the standard for the Bed & Breakfast industry. My teen son and I decided to visit Montreal as a pre-graduation present to him. From the first correspondence to even after the time of our departure, Daniel and Petra went out of their way to attend to every detail of our experience with them. They were very welcoming and kind. Petra took great care to make sure everything went smoothly. She contacted us a couple of days before we left for Montreal and arranged for an early check in. We quickly came to look forward to having breakfast and conversation with them each morning. (Breakfast, by the way, was extraordinarily good, as Daniel is an amazing cook). After breakfast, Petra would provide us suggestions for places to visit and guidance on how to navigate the city. We stayed in the Juillard Suite, which was very nice. The Bed & Breakfast is very comfortable, stylish, and super clean. The B&B is situated near the bus stop which quickly provides convenient access to the metro system and the majority of the city. As well, the nearby intersecting street has many different restaurants literally providing a world of cuisine options including Indian, Japanese, and Mexican Stopping at Frit Alors! is a must. Daniel and Petra would say that the poutine (a Canadian national dish) is a must, but the “Le Texan” burger is great with a bottle of 1642 cola. Some truly unexpected acts of kindness were Daniel offering me his coat for trekking around Montreal (the temperature dropped to 0°F (-18°C) and my coat was probably not up to the Montreal winter), Petra packing breakfast for us to take with us for an early departure, and Petra checking in with us after we had arrived back home to see if we got in all right. A la Carte Bed & Breakfast exceeded our expectations in every way. Our trip would not have been nearly so wonderful had we stayed somewhere else. Petra, Daniel, and Monsieur Petit put their hearts into the B&B and gave us a special, memorable experience. They are great ambassadors for the city of Montreal. We arrived at their B&B as guests and left as if we were old friends. We highly recommend them.…
I have stayed in BNB all over Canada and the USA - this is #1. Its like staying with friends, lots of lovely conversation, help navigating the city, etc. The property is perfectly maintained.. Cant say enough - thanks Daniel and Petra. I hope to meet again!!
This B & B more than deserves its excellent reviews everything that former guests are saying is true. Daniel, Petra, and M. Petit were very welcoming. Daniel showed us where to park and helped bring in our suitcases then offered us drinks etc even though the US Open final was about to start. Breakfasts were great, delicious, varied and plentiful. After breakfast Petra took considerable time and trouble, going the extra mile to show us maps and bus and metro routes to see the major sites of this beautiful city. We stayed for two nights. M. Petit was very cute. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was spacious. The B & B was close to a handy bus stop, with good connections to the Metro. Lots of restaurants nearby for supper. An excellent location on a very authentic street.
My wife and I just spent 4 nights at A La Carte B&B in late August, our fifth visit in four years. Montreal is of course an attractive, bustling city, always worth a stay, but for us, the real motivation for a trip is the pleasure of A La Carte B&B itself. The premises — rooms and common area — are spotlessly clean, well-equipped and filled with interesting decorations, books and pictures. (Our regular room is the Juillard Suite.) The location is very efficient, with parking right behind the B&B and only a three-minute walk to major bus routes making easy connections to the Metro and all of Montreal. (Don’t forget the STM “occasionnel”, a cost-effective multi-day bus/Metro pass.) The breakfasts — cooked dishes expertly prepared by Daniel, complemented by fruit, yoghurts, breads, condiments, coffees and teas — are excellent. And they are varied, and include choices to accommodate meat-eater and vegetarian or vegan guests, as our recent August visit demonstrated. But most importantly, Petra and Daniel are truly the perfect B&B hosts. They spare no effort to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all their visitors. This is especially evident in A La Carte’s very congenial and relaxed breakfast table, where guests often linger to talk, but also in Petra’s wealth of carefully researched tips on Montreal’s many tourism offerings, personally explained in useful detail and with maps. And even A La Carte’s resident poodle, the well-behaved and lovable Monsieur Petit, adds to this friendly ambiance. All told, we consider A La Carte to be a world-class B&B, and we give it our highest recommendation. We will certainly be back!…
