Worst Place ever- SCAMMED US- wanted a room for my wife and I and they made me pay in advance... said they gave me a suite... turned out it was a 4 story walk up - no elevator- and the bed was a tiny single in a tiny room and dirty- certainly not big enough for 2 ...they refused to... More

This is listed as a two star so I don't know why people are complaining about two flights of stairs or would stay here on a business trip...lower your expectations for a 2 star. We had a pleasant stay on the 3rd floor (yes, three flights). This is perfect if you just need somewhere to crash. No, I wouldn't sped... More

Rooms were clean. The bed was very uncomfortable. We did not know that we would have to carry all our suitcases up two flights of stairs. Attached restaurant served a decent breakfast. The staff deserves 5 stars.

By the time I got to the door, my phone was about to die. I tried the door, it was locked, and nobody was inside. After an hour and a half of sitting outside in near-freezing temperatures, I was finally able to get enough of a charge to call the emergency number they had posted on the door. I've stayed... More

Never in my life I have stayed in a hotel worse than this one. I stayed there for 5 nights at 150 dollars a night and my trip was for business. I am going to list down my reasons 1. Rooms are awfully small and outdated. And doesn't look anything like the pictures the show. I stayed in a standard... More

Business trip, 2 nights at Montreal. If you are planning to visit montreal, pick another Hotel, the only good thing about this hotel is the location. The service is not good, the breakfast is expensive, there is no Wi Fi on the rooms, no elevators and they will charge you even if you need to leave your bags for a... More

The entrance and small lobby of the Hotel Champs du Mars are very quaint in the genre of European Old Town lodging. The reception staff was most pleasant and helpful, and the check-in process was very efficient. The evening meal aroma drifting in from the adjoining restaurant made the lobby feel like grandma's living room. Very pleasant.. You are provided... More

The place is rough around the edges, to say the least. But if you don't mind staying in what resembles (and sounds like) a very old university residence, then the price FOR THE ROOM was ok. However, they really tried hard to scrape some extra money out of us. The breakfast was supposed to be included as per our reservation... More

After a lengthy check in and viewing the rooms we left to find alternative accommodation. Check in is time consuming, filling out paperwork that was already done through the booking.com website. The lady at reception was neither cheerful nor helpful. Access to the room on the third floor was via stairs that are narrow and steep; there is no elevator... More

We stayed one night at the Hotel Champ-de-Mars at the start of our trip. The hotel is an old hotel on the edge of Old Montreal. The location is very good, as just about everything was within walking distance for us. There was an unloading parking space right around the corner from the door for our arrival and departure. Overnight... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
