Detailed Reviews
Visitel is very conveniently located near the bus station and subway, and within walking distance of downtown Montreal. The room was clean and modern and had a fridge, table, TV and free wifi. Staff were helpful and friendly. Only criticism - despite making a reservation that stated breakfast was included there was in fact no breakfast available as the hotel no longer provides this service.

I stayed 4 nights in March 2012 on a romantic trip with my boyfriend. The room was very clean, the staff friendly, and the rooms are all newly renovated. Although it is far from luxury, the cheap price made my week !
Positive : Great location near the metro and quartier latin, friendly staff (they let us use their microwave even if there wasn't one in our room), control over the AC and heating in our room, new bathroom and new decoration in the room, all very clean. Also, if you want a quiet area, room 303 is in the back and you don't hear a single neighbor. We were very surprised to see a "no vacancy" sign on the second night, we hadn't hear a single guest !
Negative : Those are really just details, like no elevators, no breakfast, the rooms being pretty small.... But really, if you want breakfast, you have a nice fridge and kettle in your room, and the stairs are far from bad.
For the price they ask, this place is pretty unbeatable.

A great location from which to explore Montreal. Easy walking distance of the old port and commercial districts. Right on the edge of The Gay District so makes for some colourful characters. We were rather surprised by the number of beggars and folks drinking in the street from the early morning throughout the whole day.
The hotel is perhaps a little overpriced considering that breakfast is not included, but suited us a base for a family of four for a few days.
Clean, friendly and no problems to report. Free wifi, fridge in room, efficient air con.

Me and my girlfriend decided to spend a weekend in Montreal. We are from Boston. We chose Hotel Visitel because of it's central location (close to downtown attractions) and because of the cheap price. I had reserved a room weeks before, and because they were nearly at capacity, I had to settle for one without a bathroom. The facilities would be shared with other guests, but since it was only for one night I thought it was no big deal. Upon arrival and check-in, I was told the price for the room was twelve dollars higher than what I was told on the phone. Whatever. We were led up three flights of stairs (no elevators) to our room on the fourth floor. The room was literally the size of a closet. It barely had room for the bed, a tiny refrigerator, and a small bedside table. The television's wires were crudely hanging on the wall. The floors were tile and the wall had pipes protruding from it, leading me to believe that this was once a bathroom. The walls were paper thin and everything the neighbors did was easily audible. The room was somewhat clean, although I felt the overwhelming need for a shower as soon as we departed, and I refused to use their public shower. The shared restroom was generally clean, but there were no hand towels. There was absolutely no WIFI access. I asked the front desk about this and they replied that "it only worked sometimes". This would have been nice of them to specify on the website since we needed internet access to plan various activities and sights to see around the city. The website clearly states that they have WIFI. Blatant lie. I felt that this place was a scam, and for nearly 80 dollars, definitely not worth it. Next time, my girlfriend and I will spend the additional 20 dollars and get a room in a chain hotel with a bathroom, clean rooms, and WIFI access. Oh and also, there was no cable. I would advise you to avoid this place.

I booked a weekend trip to Montreal with my cousin and we decided to stay here to save a few bucks; horrible idea. The toilet was broken and the lady at the front desk told us "What do you want me to do about it? I don't care." so we had to use the public one all weekend. The same woman also would not allow our friend to come inside to wait while we finished getting ready to go out so he was forced to wait in the cold.
Aside from the staff, we consistently got woken up at 8-9am every day by a woman who was vacuuming and cleaning, the beds gave us both back aches, the wifi didn't work, and there were huge bugs everywhere. DO NOT STAY HERE. There are tons of other affordable hotels in Montreal with staff who won't take your money then treat you like garbage.

The location no doubt well suited. However when we booked our room, we were promised a room with a bathroom and the need to get a cot. We got a room that was barely a double bed, no bathroom and no cot. We went to the reception to be told that the place was filled, the clerk was very sympathetic but the manager shows up is rude tells us to leave and refuses to refund our money. Also when disputed on the credit card provides false evidence. Saying we stayed 1 hour and left. Travelers go next door, better received. Nyna from Brampton.

Terrible and incredibly expensive for the quality of the services! Old and dirty furniture, small window partially without any kind of closure (what will happen in the winter?). No lift, with steep and narrow stairs. Bad quality Wi-Fi, when available. The descriptions that you find online are not true. There are more than 10 hotels in the same area: you can choose better. In the following days we went to the hotel just in front (***) with service of high quality and breakfast included for 3CAD less for night!!!

The staff was very rude. I had booked two nights here two weeks back. me and my husband left on Friday evening after a busy day's work. so we knew that we will be a little late because the hotel was 5 and half hours from our place. so we called the hotel and told them that we will be there between 11.30 pm and 12 midnight since we got struck. the lady said "well i can only wait till 11 pm, after that i can't do anything, no one to check you in. So i don't know. so what do you mean you don't know? so if a customer is driving all the way to your hotel late night, you will just leave the person deserted on the road just because you can't wait. i tried convincing her that we might get delayed due to traffic, but she didn't listen and kept saying that she can't do anything. Well if she can't wait, she could have given me some options, but she was so rude even to do that. she wanted us to just stay outside of her hotel at late night. i lost my one night's money here without even staying here. I had to do some last minute booking. i would never book this hotel nor recommend anyone. very rude lady.

Made a reservation over two months ago, but two days before we were to go I received an email the the "reservation was cancelled." I immediately called and was told there was a problem with my credit card and that "the system had cancelled my reservation." I was further informed that there were no rooms available as "the system had cancelled my reservation." No help, no alternative, just an impassive repetition of "the system had cancelled my reservation," two days before our vacation. Luckily we were able to book a room with a more reputable establishment at the last minute. Funny, they had No problem with my credit card!
Better call or you may find yourself out in the street!

The place is awful. There was no even a wardrobe in suite of two rooms (4 people stayed). A small air conditioneer was only in one room, so the night was awful, hard to breath, tiny rooms contribute to claustrophobia. And yes, free wi-fi is not working there on fourth floor because the router is not reaching it.

No, the hotel does not have a parking but almost in front to us is a public underground parking, cost $12 x 24 hours.
Almost in front to our hotel in an underground public parking with more that 200 places. Don't need to reserve in advance. The prices is $12 x 24 hours.
It is very safe place, the police station is also there.
