The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.

I stayed in the "Art Studio" room for six nights at the end of September 2018. The room was wonderfully unique: a lovely combination of new and old. The bathroom is newer and very clean. At first, I was concerned about getting up in the...More

The location was great, only two blocks up from Rue St. Catherine. The room was nice, pretty large, but next to the front door. We heard people walking and talking when we were trying to sleep and footsteps overhead (the family lives upstairs). Nice breakfast,...More

Super hosts, fabulous breakfasts, 2 mins walk away from St Cathrine - shopping, bars, restaurants in one direction, The Village in the other. Plus a tiny, sun-filled (July) garden where breakfast is organized. We really, really liked this place.
