Hotel Port-royal earns high marks for its friendly staff and prime location, which is perfect for exploring Old City Quebec's attractions on foot. The hotel's cleanliness and spacious rooms, complete with modern amenities and full kitchens, are frequently highlighted by guests. While the ambiance receives accolades for its tasteful decor and historic charm, some visitors mention the restaurant's value could be better. You cannot find a better place to stay in old Quebec City. Located right by the port in the lower section of the old city, the hotel is surrounded by lovely streets and countless restaurants. It is a short walk to the cable car that will take you to the upper section of the old city. Accordingly, all major tourist attractions are just a short walk away.
We had a small suite that was completely refurbished, tastefully coordinated and gave you a great sense of relaxation on entering. The bed was very comfortable, and the suite's furniture and kitchen equipment was all first-class and. We have traveled a lot in Asia and the Hotel Port Royal compares to some of the best hotels where we have stayed in terms of comfort and amenities. All the staff that we encountered were most pleasant, efficient and attentive.
The air conditioning functioned perfectly during the times of a heat wave while we were there. Check-in was smooth and efficient. The restrictions due to COVID-19 were quickly and well explained. My wife and I were both satisfied and relieved that the hotel management was taking all precautions necessary to ensure that we remained safe from contamination and minimize the risks of exposure to this influenza. This hotel also features a lovely restaurant and patio.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quebec City. It is a gem!

We will definitely be staying at the Hotel Port Royal again on our next visit to Quebec. The room was spacious and clean and the hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The location is great for walking the old city, seeing sights like Chateau Frontenac and is in within walking distance of lots of great restaurants.
We also had a dog with us and the room was pet friendly - came with bowls for food and water and didn’t have any carpet (which is nice regardless of whether you have a pet or not).

The room was beautiful with exposed stone and opened onto a patio to have coffee if we wanted. The bathroom was large and new. The bed was a good size and the room had a mini-split for air conditioning which was great The staff was SO friendly, helping us with anything and everything. The location could not have been better as everything we wanted to see was in within walking distance. I could not speak highly enough about the place. for roughly $250 per night US it was perfectly priced given the location and demand. Luckily, we were not there on a weekend when I think parking may have been a problem. we had easy in and out access for only $15.00 a day US. Would definitely go back there. One other thing. We asked that they not use much scent for cleaning and the room air was perfect for my wife who has chemical sensitivities.

Charming hotel and is perfectly located near many restaurants in Old Quebec. The staff was amazing, super welcoming and friendly. Stanley was outstanding and so helping.

We had booked 2 Junior Suites in the building across the reception. We were 4 adults with 2 young children. The rooms were beautiful with a separate bedroom, living area, with a desk and small table and chairs and a kitchenette. The bathrooms were also beautiful with heated floors and a floating toilet even the doors are of solid wood. They really put top quality in their renovations.

We loved our stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in a charming, clean and well located hotel with character.
Not just a standard chain hotel.

I highly recommend reserving your restaurants ahead of time. We had lots of difficulty finding a table anywhere the night we arrived. We called over 20 restaurants which were all booked or had only a 9:30 availability. With 2 young children we and ended up ordering lasagna for the kids and sushi for us and ate in the room.

Next morning we had brunch at Tavern Lucille adjacent to the hotel. Again we couldn’t find anywhere else to eat without prior reservations. The restaurant was charming and the food was excellent but the service was very long. It was almost an hour before we got our food. They apologized and gave us a small cup of yogourt with honey and granola topping it was very nice. Restaurants are all understaffed and they were going their best.

In all it was a great little getaway.

We booked this hotel for a long weekend. The location is fantastic and allowed for us to walk everywhere. We chose valet parking and it was well worth the money, as parking in Old Quebec can be really difficult. The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed and a kitchenette. There was no cleaning service during our stay because of covid but we were able to ask for anything we needed at the front desk. Highly recommend staying here.

We decided to visit Quebec City and enjoy our weekend at this beautiful place.
The hotel itself is located at great location with easy access to both upper and lower town by walk.
The hotel is clean and the worker are extremely helpful.
The room is large and had microwave and stovetop with full kitchen gadgets
Room also got air conditioning.
There is a restaurant on site which we went for breakfast and it was Great experience with wide range of choices.
They have parking in spot which cost 25 dollars / night

I do recommend this place.

We stayed at this hotel for the location, and the excellent reviews. Staff here are extremely helpful. This hotel has a lot of character, especially the brick walls. Furnishings are top notch, bathrooms are superior. Kitchenettes are well equipped, with dishes, microwave, coffee, cutlery, pots and pans, and a stove top. We didn't do any cooking, but liked having real coffee cups and wine glasses in the room. King sized bed was a bit soft for my liking, but superior bedding. The only negative was that the air conditioning never worked during our entire time, even though we mentioned it upon our arrival. Also they do not clean the rooms if you are there for several days, which we really didn't mind as you are able to pick up new towels or toiletries at the front desk daily. Location is great, just a short walk to Le Petite Champlain. Louise Tavern was also excellent. A bonus - the gas station next door to the hotel has a convenience store with wine and beer.

This hotel is perfectly located in the Old Quebec City, just steps to everywhere you need to visit in Old Quebec. One block from the Museum of Civilization which is a must-see. The hotel itself is history and our room (Deluxe Plus Suite) had must of the original structure. Very charming boutique hotel. Staff very pleasant and helpful. We had the breakfast package and it was so worth it as you could order anything off the breakfast menu and it came with bottomless coffee/tea and juice. The food was gourmet and delicious, served nice and hot! We also had dinner one evening and same satisfaction.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Very nice hotel! We arrived by train and it was a flat, 10 minute walk from the station. The hotel is located in the corner of lower old town and the edge of the port. It seemed like a perfect location as you were right next to the lower town (which I preferred) and really the walk up the hill isn’t that bad to the upper town. We had a deluxe suite on the 3rd floor which was a pretty big room. The elevator is small and a little slow, but not all hotels in old town even have one. It had one exposed stone wall which I thought was a nice aesthetic feature being in old Quebec. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of extra pillows and blanket in closet. The bathroom was small (only one person at sink/counter at a time), but I have never seen a hotel with so much storage (drawers/closets) in room and bathroom. Housekeeping only occurred if you requested daily, but they came with no problems and were very thorough! I would definitely stay again!

Stayed here for 3 nights in Sept 22. Great location for exploring the old town and the narrow streets which are full of art galleries and restaurants. We booked a de-luxe room which was large and had a small kitchen. Although the room had a dining table and two chairs there were no "soft" chairs. The hotel staff were helpful. Room service is on an as required basis, so don't assume towels or cleaning will be done unless you ask! The restaurant has a good reputation and waiting staff were friendly and efficient, although the mâitre d' is an arrogant and curt individual who needs a rocket up his proverbial; why some staff think they are above their paying customers I do not know. In this case, perhaps it is because we were English speaking rather than French and if I was linguistically capable, I would have torn him apart. Only the rain stopped us walking out.
