This wonderful hotel provides a great central location for walking the old city as well as numerous eateries and shops close by. Everyone we encountered from the bellman to the front desk personnel to the staff handling breakfast were friendly and competent. I was raised bilingual in Quebec with French as my primary language but my wife is a southerner and the staff was able to deal with us equally well in English and French. Our modern room was spacious and well appointed and I could not help but note how it was meticulously clean. The bathroom had a large dual vanity and equally large glass rain forest shower - the soaking tub was a nice surprise. There was an enclosed kitchenette in a large decorative cabinet that would have proved useful had we been in Quebec City for an extended period but was not used for this stay. Our room also provided a pleasant view of our outside surroundings. As has been stated previously the lighting in the rooms is more suited to relaxation than work but that was not an issue for us as we were on vacation. We also took advantage of our free breakfast and enjoyed the limited but tasty morning offerings. A wonderful hotel in a great city.

We can't emphasize enough how perfect Hotel Monsieur Jean is! Location is key when on vacation and this is one of the best in old Quebec. The staff are exemplary & go out of their way to make your stay simply unforgettable. We arrived for our 40th anniversary stay & couldn't be happier with our choice of Monsieur Jean & we were surprised by the chocolates awaiting us in our room. The rooms are huge compared to standard hotels & you feel pampered in every way. Every detail is well thought out. Decor is artsy and simply delightful. The breakfast is delicious with lots of choices including croissants, eggs, fruit salads, custom yogurts etc. The cocktail bar in the evenings offers live entertainment and creative beverages. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to be WOWED! A bientot Mr.Jean!

We went there without children. Our experience was, all in all, one of the best I've had in recent years. The hotel is very Instagrammable. Even the least expensive rooms offer plenty of comfort and are original in design. It's great that a small kitchen is included and the location is very central in the old town. The service at the reception was kind. I recommend it, but I'd have liked to know a few details for extra comfort, so I'll share them with you.
First, every bedroom has a private air conditioner, which is excellent. You can choose the temperature. The motor occasionally turns on maximum power at the standard temperature the cleaning service sets below 21.5 Celsius. It causes a roaring noise that lasts 10-15 minutes and restarts every few hours. It woke us up several times on our first night. Set it to a higher temperature on hot days, and it will always stay silent while still functioning well.
Finally, the hotel breakfast restaurant le Bijou is also very original in design, but if you have back problems like me, ask for a higher-set table. The tables on the low couches are too low for breakfast, and some are too low to put your legs under them.
I enjoyed my stay very much, and if the opportunity arises to return to Quebec, I'll stay here.

We had six couples staying in rooms at various price points and everyone said their rooms were clean, oversized with kitchenettes, with large bathrooms. Everything feels like a European luxury hotel except I’ve never seen a European room this large. Staff is polished, polite, professional and helpful. Great location in the old city. Overall just great.

We originally booked a Classic King, but were upgraded upon arrival to a Superior (?). As everyone says - the rooms and bathrooms are a great size - but there were some quirks I was not a fan of.
For the Bathroom - it's a curtain that closes your bathroom door - from the bedroom. Not a door - but a curtain. The shower is open (no full door) so nothing kept the heat of the shower contained. So - not only was water going outside of the shower (b/c not a full closing door), it was also chilly during the shower. While you might have the handheld on hot water (not great water pressure either), the steam/heat wasn't staying within the shower. The shampoo / condition / shower gel was attached in the the shower - and the pumps barely pumped any out. And if anyone used the bathroom - they would hear it in the bedroom - and see the light.
As for the bed - it was way too soft for both of our liking - and the pillows were also too soft. The hair dryer only had cold air coming out so it took forever to dry my hair.
As for the pluses - the location is key. It was centrally located and easy to walk places. The hotel front entrance is very pretty this time of year with the mums and Halloween Decorations. Staff-wise - everyone was nice and accomodating.
Parking is interesting - and I'm not even sure we parked in the designated Hotel spot. When we drove past the hotel, we saw a parking garage on the right so we parked there...but a day or two later, we saw a garage more-so attached to the hotel - right past the hotel entrance but still not sure if hotel guests can go there - or if it's just for deliveries. Not easy to figure out. Regardless - our parking was ~$15 USD / night.
Overall a great hotel - but a few bathroom / bed issues that didn't make it an ideal stay for us.

Dear Jennifer, We thank you very much for choosing Monsieur Jean regarding your last stay in the lovely Québec City. We hope you enjoyed the little upgrade surprise, and the amazing view provided from the Superior Panoramic Room. We are delighted to know you were charmed by the very unique deco as soon as you arrived in front of our majestic Blue Door. The city of Québec (and our hotel) has a lot of charm during this time of the year with all the fall colours, it is always a good option to come and visit during October. We thank you also for all your comments and suggestions. It is very important to us to get a feedback and to receive suggestions so we can continuously improve the quality of service we provide. Our bedding is famous for its comfiness and for its softness. However, we understand it is not of the liking to every Guest, this is why we have mattress toppers available if needed. We would have been more than happy to provide you with one if we were aware of the situation during your stay. It was a pleasure for all of us to welcome you to Monsieur Jean and we would be glad to have the chance to welcome you once again next time you will be back in Québec. Kind Regards, Lucie Assistant General Manager Monsieur Jean

Our recent stay was very pleasant. The staff was welcoming and accommodating - top level customer service and courtesy. The room was very clean and comfortable as was the bed. Plenty of hot water in a very spacious zero entry shower so no stubbed toes on entry curbs or stepping into a slippery bathtub! The owner seemed to be going for a kind of a subdued and somewhat dark atmosphere with dark paint on the walls in the corridors to the rooms and very dim lighting. I think it went a little too far in that I had to take out my cell phone light to see the key panel to open the door. Very enjoyable experience.

A lovely hotel with quirky décor in the middle of old town, easy to get anywhere. We had a terrace room 611A, which was nice since great warm weather let us use the terrace and the firepit at night. Lovely to sit there with a glass of wine enjoying the view. The hotel has parking, but the receptionist recommended I park in the garage next door for CAD 25/day, rather than the CAD 35 the hotel charges. This makes sense if you don’t want to take your car out while you are here. Breakfast is an extra charge at about CAD 35 p/p but there are many places within a short walking distance to enjoy a lovely breakfast. Same for dinner—lots of options.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in September to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I was looking for a modern, stylish, boutique-style hotel and we loved everything about this hotel! The room and bathroom were both huge and we had amazing views from floor to ceiling windows on two sides of the room. The toiletries are so good and smell amazing - I bought a full-size shower gel and lotion to bring home with me. When I use them, I'm reminded of our wonderful trip!
The hotel is in a nice location in the upper village area of Quebec City. We were able to walk extensively, quite easily, despite the many steep hills. The staff was polite, friendly and helpful (and spoke English, thankfully).
I put a lot of thought into planning and I'm so happy I selected this hotel and would absolutely stay here again!

We stayed in the terrace room for 5 days. Its a really nice, spacious room and the terrace is huge with a great view that we really enjoyed. We stayed during the heat wave and were grateful for the excellent air conditioning. Coffee maker was excellent. The staff were all really nice and spoke fantastic English. We brought our 10 month old baby. It was a convenient place to travel with a child; the bellhop and valet were very helpful in managing the baggage and car while we dealt with a little one. Housekeeping was responsive to our needs. Generally the room was clean with the exception of the floors - bit of an issue with a baby that wants to crawl. One swipe of a diaper wipe along the flooring showed just how badly they need to be mopped (wipe was black). The breakfast that you can get at the hotel is not worth the price. Its nearly $30CAD after tax and has limited options. As vegetarians, it was frustrating that there was meat in all of the hot options (eggs and sandwiches). Moreover, it was already picked over and cold by 8:30AM. Go somewhere local and have a fabulous breakfast for a fraction of the price. If you are a light sleeper, consider earplugs - as other guests shut their doors it can be loud. Finally, I got a massage on site, and it was a fantastic massage. Its a nice offering. Unfortunately a random employee walked into the room during the service, which was very awkward and messed with the vibe.

Found in the heart of Quebec City with everything in walking distance. The room was immaculate and the view of the river from our large windows was spectacular. There was a small kitchenette in the room which was appreciated and the bathroom was well appointed. The bed was comfy too. The unfortunate thing was that the dinning room for the hotel was under renovation while we were there. They offered to have breakfast delivered to the room for 7 am (at a cost). We decided not to get the breakfast as we felt full from the dinner the night before.
