The hotel itself is newly renovated as the lobby and common areas are very nicely done and modern, while the rooms are also very nicely renovated and comfortable. So all in all in terms of the hard product its probably one of the nicer Hilton flag hotels in the Canada/US market.
Our check in experience was very pleasant. There's a separate line for Hilton gold/diamond members, as well as a main line that had a short queue when we arrived. The agent was friendly and courteous and took her time to explain the ins and outs of the property to us, and made sure our initial impression of the hotel was a very positive one.
We got a high floor room with a fabulous river view and of old quebec. The room was bright and airy and well equipped including a Nespresso machine with some complimentary pods that were also refilled when we had the room made up. The king bed was fresh and comfortable, and sheets/pillows were of good quality. I guess if we had to pick one thing out to critique it's that the rooms are a tad on the smaller side. But at the end of the day does 50 to 75 Sq ft really make that big a difference, when we have such a great view to fall back on?
Service levels at the hotel were solid. Our calls to front desk were answered quickly, and requests were acted on quickly as well. The concierge was pleasant and gave us some nice restaurant suggestions for the area. The staff at the hotel restaurant were pleasant as well, and we enjoyed the good quality breakfast that was offered each morning as part of our elite benefit.
The hotel was quite busy during our time there, and I'd gather it's also one of the biggest in the area in terms of number of rooms. I'd certainly say it's the place to stay for anyone visiting Old Quebec, and we'd definitely return again the next time we visit. Kudos to the Hilton Quebec team for a professional and smoothly run hospitality operation, particularly during these challenging times of Covid.
We were able to check in a little earlier and we had a room on the 12th floor with a Mountain View. We opted for the &22 a night self park. You have the option to bring the car out once a day but since there isn’t a lot of local free parking we only used the car for day trips. You take a white ticket upon entrance each time and the desk gives you yellow tickets to scan each day to leave. The parking garage has its own elevator to the hotel and then you use another elevator to access your room. You need your room key to scan for the hotel elevator.
The pool was so warm and plenty of fresh towels. The towels were big! There is a nice pool bar but it wasn’t always staffed. You could get drinks and ice creams and such. Pool open 8am- 8pm and until 9pm on Saturdays.
There are restaurants onsite but we didn’t try them. We opted to have the breakfast included and are so glad we did: juices, smoothies, croissants, breads, cereal, yogurt, milk, coffee, tea, pastries, fruit, eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, and so much more! The staff was so friendly and couldn’t do enough. This goes for the whole hotel, not just breakfast. Be sure to leave a tip! 😀 The staff was also patient with my French!
Housekeeping came daily and made the beds and replenished the toiletries and towels. The room had soap and shampoo and conditioner in wall dispensers.
Room had a fridge but no microwave. There were pretty views of the mountains.
This hotel is close to lots of restaurants and attractions.
A laundromat is six minutes walking from the hotel with washers, dryers, detergent, and a change machine. It was a bit pricey and not crowded when we went. It would be great if the hotel had coin operated machines; I am sure they would pay for themselves after too long!
All in all, we are so happy we chose this hotel (mom, dad, two teens). We hope to return soon! Merci beaucoup!
The problem lay with the pool bar, which is on the 3rd floor. Although our room was on the 15th floor, we could hear the music. It was so loud, it was as if we were down there. I contacted the front desk to ask when it would be over and they said 9h pm - called back at 9h30 pm as the music was still raging and they said it would be over by 10h pm. They also mentioned the DJ had lowered the music - not true, he actually did increase the volume.
Another point: the music in the lobby and the restaurant/bar area is also very loud, to the point it gives out a very “chaotic” vibe to the whole experience.
I will make sure never to come back here.
In a 3 day stay, the second day the Hilton Quebec hotel did not clean the room, do the beds nor change towels.
When we requested the service the manager alleged shortage of personnel, he was impolite, pretentious and treated us with superiority.
Cleaning, doing beds, providing toiletries and dry towels are a MUST have service in a hotel, even more in a 4star hotel.
I am deeply disappointed with the horrible management, bad service and impoliteness. No solution not compensation was offered by the manager.
The lobby was beautiful, due to the strike the restaurants were closed but that didn’t bother us. We were happy to bring in food and eat in the hotel. They have a desk that can double up as a dining table with the bench in the room.
The heated outdoor pool was lots of fun for the kids and quite an experience. You enter the pool from the indoors and leads to the outdoors. So there is no worries of getting cold entering and leaving the pool. On weekends you need a reservation for it.
We did not have housekeeping for 3 days. The front desk was happy to give us any supplies we needed. We left our used towels and garbage outside the room at night and was picked up by the morning. The hotel and room was spotless!
Front desk was staffed with only one person, the hotel was empty, so it was easy to check in and out. A plus in my books. Overall a nice stay at the hotel!
We felt sorry for those striking as their voices were not heard the weekend we were there as they were overshadowed by the convoy. I hope they reach an agreement soon!
Claudio also forgot to mention that if you want your room cleaned you needed to ask the day before that's a rather large mistake. I thought that after 2 nights we would be cleaned so was very surprised to find out when I called that we would not be getting any cleaning done. Almost $500 a night and no cleaning done even though we were there for 3 nights.
They are obviously very short staffed based upon the long lines at check in, the restaurant only open on a part time basis and cleanings only being done if you know to ask.
Many better option available in Quebec city, speak with your dollars and go anywhere else.
Check-in experience was terrible and unfortunately soured the experience. Our room was not available when we arrived (5:15pm). Check-in is advertised as 4pm. We were offered a downgrade to two queens at a reduced rate, which we reluctantly accepted as we had been on the road for ten hours with young children and just needed to rest. After accepting the offer, we were then advised that after further review the hotel could not actually offer us the reduced rate (about $300 difference per night) that they mistakenly had.
The whole check-in experience was awful, completely unprofessional, and was a very poor start to our stay. We decided to wait for our Junior Suite to be available, which we were told would be cleaned on a priority basis and we could wait in the lobby with our kids in the meantime. Two hours went by with no advice from the hotel. I then requested an update and was told our room was now ready. What an absolute mess and prime example of mismanagement, lack of follow up, and poor service.
Room was nice with a phenomenal view, which salvaged our stay, but the run around at the start was awful. No concessions or recompense was offered by the hotel despite their (double) mess up. They would not even offer an extra bed for our 3yr old without an extra fee, even after their evident mismanagement of our booking.
Location was decent, just outside of Old Quebec, within walking distance to primary historical areas. Location was a step down from the prime locations within the city walls, which made a difference for the young ones whose legs tired quicker.
I hope this is not the norm for Hilton management and guest experience.
Our Parliament view room was small but well organized with plenty of storage space to make our room feel spacious. Walking distance to major attractions and restaurants. All staffs worked hard to run this hotel to ensure comfort stay. There was a conference that whole Hilton sold out at our stay. However, you barely heard any noise and feel crowed any where in the hotel. FYI, our room was at 19 floor. If we will visit Quebec again, this will be our pick again.
