This was a return visit; our first stay was in June 2022. The location is excellent, staff friendly, the hotel immaculate. Again, we splurged and booked the Junior Suite, room #58, at the top. It is spacious with a large bathroom, shower and separate stand alone tub. And a sink with a shelf underneath. The massive king size bed would sleep an entire family, but it was comfortable with lots of pillows and a good mattress. Bliss! A small kitchenette is equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a stove top, microwave, cooking utensils, and there are two mini fridges; perfect to chill our bubbly, and to store some cheeses. We appreciate that housekeeping is on request; we do not need our bed made, towels replaced, and the room cleaned daily. However, we could request towels, or toiletries if needed.

Breakfast is served in the breakfast room, and there is a decent variety of options. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, free and help yourself, are available all day.

There is a lovely terrace at the top of the building, with bistro tables, chair sand umbrellas. A section with padded chairs and a coffee table is reserved for Room 58, though that was not clear. The top of Château Frontenac is visible from the terrace.

Bonjour! We can't express how deeply touched we are, as a family-run boutique hotel, to read your heartfelt review. We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our Carriage Penthouse Junior Suite, a space we hold dear to our hearts. The former Carriage House was lovingly rebuilt in 2019, and the top floor is now dedicated to this spacious suite. We’re glad you appreciated the unique access via the Manoir’s terrasse and the private section reserved just for our guests in this suite. We take your feedback and will make sure we emphasize this aspect when we accompany the clients to the suite. Your detailed description of the suite’s features, from the massive king-size bed to the well-equipped kitchenette, truly captures the comfort and convenience we strive to provide. Your kind words mean the world to us, and we are so grateful for your continued trust in our hotel. We can’t wait to welcome you back on your next visit, and please know that you are always a cherished guest at Manoir D’Auteuil. Safe travels ahead! Mille mercis, Soa - Client Services

We loved staying in this hotel. The staff was the best—greeting us every time we walked in, responding to questions with ease, and delivering personalized service. Our room had a lovely old brick wall with a door that led out onto a rooftop with outdoor furniture and nice plants. The breakfast, which was not included in our room price but was very reasonable and totally worth it, was beautiful and delicious.

At the end of our stay before we flew out of Montreal, we stayed in a chain hotel there strictly based upon proximity to public transportation. We have always stayed in chain hotels, sometimes spending a lot of money doing so. This hotel has changed that for us. In the future we will seek out small local hotels. Stay here while in Quebec City.

Bonjour Janice! People like yourselves remind us how much we all love hospitality and personalized service. We genuinely enjoyed having you stay with us. Your kind words encourage us to continue to put our best foot forward and have our guests' satisfaction as our top priority. As a historic boutique hotel dating in 1835, every single one of our rooms is unique in size and personality. We are happy you found our Classic Queen room to be lovely. We are spoiled with four distinct seasons so we take pride in offering a seasonal summer terrace for all of our guests and some rooms come with a private balcony. For the guests who would like one, please note that specials requests are subject to availability but our dedicated team is always more than happy to comply when possible. Regarding our breakfast, we serve light and fresh options to reflect our European Style. It is à la carte and the menu is rather flexible to accommodate any special needs. You're absolutely right, and what really makes the difference is the quality of the hospitality and the warm welcome in small boutique hotels like ours. Thank you again for supporting us, we hope to have the privilege of welcoming you back soon. Merci beaucoup! Soa

My husband and I decided to spontaneously drive up from the Boston area for a few days' vacation in Old Quebec City. We stayed in a junior suite (Lady Godiva / Sewell) which has a bed and TV area downstairs and the shower, sink and a soaking tub upstairs. The bed was very comfortable, the shower and tub had excellent water pressure, the amenities (robe, slippers, toiletries) were all great. What shines most was the staff - friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and they all seemed to genuinely enjoy and excel at their work. Their enthusiasm for the area makes them a terrific resource for dining and activity recommendations if you need them. Breakfasts in the morning were delicious and included simple healthy options or more decadent choices like crepes and fresh pastries. We would stay here again and definitely recommend a stay at Le Manior d'Auteuil.

Bonjour! What a great idea! Spontaneous plans are THE bests to explore the most of the areas around us. We want to thank you for having stayed with us, we are happy that every single part of your stay at Manoir d'Auteuil and in Old Quebec was relaxing and exceptional. The architectural richness of our historic establishment allow us to offer unique, charming rooms and we are thrilled you found yours great. The iron stairway to the beige marble bathroom of the suite you stayed in definitely enhances the whole getaway. As for our dedicated team, you are right, we really take pride in providing our guests with a personalized and friendly service along with valuable insights of what to do and where to eat in an easy reach from the hotel. Thank you again for your support and kind words about our facilities and services. The whole team would love to get the privilege of welcoming you back, maybe for another spontaneous trip from Boston to Quebec City. Merci beaucoup, Soa

We loved this hotel for location to the old town, food and friendly staff
We had the top room which had 52 steps up to it so be careful to check if you aren’t fit or have any limitations although the hotel had told us in advance..
The furniture and fitting and fittings are very art deco and add a charm and coziness.
We actually preferred the housekeeping on request rather than being disturbed by cleaners every morning
It was a birthday trip so it was nice to get some restaurant recommendations in advance to have a nice meal at somewhere different to the main areas
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return

Bonjour Jacq, Thank you so much for taking a moment to review your stay with us. Because we are historically protected within the Unesco site of Old Quebec, we are prohibited from making any modifications to accommodate an elevator. Indeed, if you are on an upper floor, stairs are most definitely required. We always suggest reaching out to us directly should stairs be a challenge, and that we we can suggest the best room category option available at the time of your Quebec City adventure. We are also more than willing to assist with any luggage! I am particularly happy to hear you enjoyed the housekeeping on demand option. This has been something we have integrated since after the pandemic. So many hotel chains now only offer housekeeping every 3rd or 5th day. We hope this hybrid model satisfies all of our clients various preferences. Thank you again for your support and we feel honoured that we were part of your birthday getaway. It was a pleasure welcoming you with us and we do hope to have the privilege of welcoming you back. Merci beaucoup! Linda

Our stay at Le Manoir d'Auteuil was excellent! The location of the hotel is perfect for walking to everything in old Quebec City, the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, and the room we had on the garden level was very clean, quiet, and had a lovely view of the garden. We loved the history of the house and it's preservation in each of the rooms. This is such a nice change from the big chain hotels and a much more individualized and personal accommodation. Many, many thanks to Linda and the employees at Le Manoir d'Auteuil for making our stay so relaxing. We will definitely stay at Le Manoir on our next trip to Quebec City and will be recommending it as an excellent place to stay.

I recently visited Quebec City for the first time with my daughter. I made reservations based on glowing reviews of this hotel. It exceeded my expectations! The staff were so warm and welcoming. I really love historic properties. The hotel was beautiful and spotless. The location was a 10/10 on a quiet street close to so many restaurants and shops. I especially loved being close to the old city wall and gates. Breakfast was filling and fresh with coffee, water, tea, and cocoa available 24 hours a day. We also enjoyed the complimentary wine which we sipped on the roof top terrace. Housekeeping was amazing refreshing our room daily. It was a joy to visit Quebec City while staying at Hotel Manoir d’ Auteuil!

This hotel may not be for everyone, but for those who appreciate what a boutique hotel can offer it has everything you could ask for.
The location is inside of the walled city of Quebec and you can walk to everything as long as you do not mind the hills.
Quebec City, the section within the walls, is not a friendly city if you are disabled-and this hotel is no exception. Most of the shops and restaurants do not have any access for handicapped as well.
The Good:
The staff is wonderful the owner runs everything well. The rooms were clean and beautiful, our room was roomy with a high ceiling and windows that overlooked the street. The breakfast was delicious each day (at times the staff needed to be reminded to refill the coffee, cram and milk). The building is old but well maintained-no issues with any of the infrastructure. It’s like staying in Fran…..you get what I mean.
Everything about this hotel is made to be appreciated-this is not a chain so the employees take a personal interest in your happiness. Treat them well, they deserve it.
The Not So Good: No elevator (not a problem for us) Parking is a couple of blocks away, some of the rooms may have street noise (car tires on cobblestone, was not an issue for us even though we did stay street facing).
If you have a car and want to park, they have reserved spaces in the nearby lot. You likely will not need your car at all, as everything is within walking distance to this hotel,
Enjoy your stay, we sure did, and we will be back. Je me souviens!

Bonjour M. Brian, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review with so many delightful details. It is true, if you are someone who really wants a chain style hotel, we are likely not the best choice. However, if you want to experience the history of Old Quebec in one of the historical buildings with in the walls, yes, like you know where.....France, then we are a great choice. I do indeed wish we could install an elevator, but on several occasions, our requests have been denied due to the historical requirements. On the plus side though, we are indeed happy to assist with your bags. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to one day welcoming you back. Merci beaucoup! Linda

A special hotel, the room was charming and comfortable. The staff was friendly and happy to assist and help. Bonjour Tzur4! Thank you for taking a moment to review your stay with us. I am thrilled you enjoyed the hotel, your room and the ideal location while visiting our beautiful city. We have indeed adopted a policy of not entering a room unless invited due to the fallout of the COVID pandemic. We do have a card placed on the bed explaining just how the housekeeping service is handled and I realize that it is sometimes missed. Reception keeps a list of all clients that would like housekeeping services and my apologies that we did not properly inform you of this procedure at check-in. We will certainly work on that! Thank you again for your support and we hope to one day welcome you back. Merci beaucoup! Linda

We enjoyed a wonderful week long stay at Le Manoir d’Auteuil. The location is very convenient just inside the wall of the old city. Parking was also very convenient with a reasonable priced access to an underground lot around the corner. The king size bed that we slept on, was perhaps the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept on. What stands out however, is the exceptional staff here! Every staff member that we encountered was exceptional we helpful, so I would say that the staff is their greatest resource!

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights over the Christmas holiday and had a lovely time. The staff was very attentive and engaging, our room was large and clean and breakfast was delicious. The location of the hotel was perfect, across the street from a park and off the beaten track away from the crowds. An added bonus is the availability to park your car, for a fee, at an indoor parking garage located a few blocks away. This came in very handy during our cold and snowy visit. We look forward to returning!

Bonjour Barbara, Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at Le Manoir d’Auteuil! We’re thrilled you and your husband enjoyed your Christmas holiday with us and that our attentive staff, delicious croissants, and convenient location made your stay memorable. We’re glad to hear you appreciated the nearby indoor parking—definitely a bonus during those chilly, snowy days! When clients purchase the parking from us, the passes do provide in and out access, which is so important for those excursions. As Le Manoir d’Auteuil was originally a single-family residence dating back to 1835, each of our rooms has its own unique charm. From cozy and intimate spaces to spacious and luxurious accommodations like yours, we aim to offer something special for every guest. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we hope to have the privilege of welcoming you back for another lovely stay. Merci encore, Linda

Which rooms have private balconies?
Answer from LaFollette
Quebec City, Canada26 contributions13 helpful votes
Only two rooms have private balconies and they are on the main floor with a balcony on the tiny interior courtyard. Everyone, however, can access the rooftop terrasse to escape and enjoy the exterior. We cannot guarantee which specific room you will get in the room category reserved, but we do our best to navigate and note all of the special requests when assigning rooms. None of the park view rooms have balconies, and to have a guaranteed view, you must reserve either a Junior Suite or a View King room (only available through our website or via telephone.). Hope that helps! Merci, Linda

I do not know where the historic junior suite is. We were on the second floor (about 12 stairs x 2 flights). I do not think there will be any help with the luggage but they are so helpful that I am sure if you contact them by phone or internet, they will help you. We really enjoyed our stay there. So quiet, peaceful and clean hotel. (Hint for outside: Long steep hill to go on St Jean street but head towards St Louis street which is less steep and closer.)
