My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Maison du Fort in Quebec City, after spending several days in both Ottawa and Montreal. It was the tail-end of our vacation, and proved to be the highlight of our trip. When we arrived we were immediately greeted by the owner, Marielle, who graciously allowed us an early check-in to our room. Our room was located on the main floor; with several large windows and a sitting area. It was exactly the “Old World” charm that we were hoping for! The location could not have been better, as it is just steps away from all of the sights, restaurants, and attractions of Old Quebec City. Each morning we enjoyed coffee, juice, yogurt, and delicious cakes (included in our stay). While not considered a “breakfast”, it proved to be more than sufficient to start our day. Our activities included: a guided walking tour, a day trip to Montmorency Falls & Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre Cathedral, and (of course) just strolling down the cobblestone streets and enjoying the fine area restaurants. Maison du Fort (along with Marielle) proved to be a delightful end to our travels!…
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It has a great location to explore old Quebec, just two blocks from the Dufferin Terrace and Château Frontenac. The room was cozy, spotlessly clean and had charming decorations. Marielle, the owner, is very kind and accommodating, and she made sure we were comfortable with our stay. She also offered beverages and pastries served every morning at no additional cost. We’ll definitely stay there again next time we visit Quebec City.
This is a great little inn right near many of the attractions and sites. Rooms are cozy but comfortable with everything you may need. Best part is the host, Marielle. She is extremely friendly and ensures everything is perfect for your stay. Would certainly return.
We booked at the last minute and in this Covid world - who knows what it will be like. Marielle, the owner and proprietor, was a lovely host and in spite of the drastic change to her business, everything was in great condition and extremely comfortable. The convenience of the location is perfect regardless of whether you are digging into history or shopping. Marielle, like so many in Quebec City residents, can trace her roots to the original settlers of the 1600's, so she is genuinely interested in helping you experience what Quebec City offers. You can't lose in this choice.
I stayed at Hotel Maison du Fort twice in the last 2 summers. The first time I stayed in its standard room and the next time in its superior room. First, the location is very convenient, within the walls of Old Quebec City just a couple minutes walk from Hotel Chateau Frontenac. It is very close to a lot of restaurants. Yet, it is located in a quiet street near a courtyard facing the Dufferin Terrace. It is a very pleasant walk out from the hotel everyday. The hotel is very well-maintained and clean while maintaining its history and character. It has a simple old-world charm without trying excessively. The décor is beautiful and elegant without being ostentatious. It is ideal for those seeking to stay in a small intimate property with its character. The innkeeper, Madame Marielle, is a lady with a personality and will add memory to your stay in this lovely city. I can tell that she has put her heart and soul to maintain this hotel. Although it is only a 2 -star property, you can only find that attention to details in a nice 4 star hotel or B&B, for instance, the nice curtains, the towels assembled in a lovely basket, welcoming note, etc. I ordered some roses to put in the room prior to my stay. I was expecting to have to pick it up from the front desk myself but the staff already put it in my room so it was a very refreshing sight when I checked into my room. The standard rooms are small but the hotel is honest about the size on its website. This kind of size is typical in the basic rooms of a lot of centrally located hotels in most old cities. So I expected it. The superior room is very spacious and has a nice sitting area to relax. The rooms are very clean. I noticed that even the floor underneath the bed was clean as I picked up my thing that I dropped on the floor by the bed. I would not want to stay elsewhere if I ever go to Quebec City again. It is the best 2-star hotel I have ever stayed. I will choose it over other 3 or 4 star properties in the area.…
The Maison du Fort is a wonderful little hotel right in the heart of old Quebec. We stayed in the two bedroom suite on the top floor. The room was clean and cozy, with all of the amenities that we needed. Marielle is a wonderful host. She had great recommendations about places to eat, where to ski, and what to see and do at Carnaval. She was also very understanding when we arrived later than we had anticipated. The charm and location of this hotel make it a perfect place to stay when exploring Quebec. We will definitely be back!
Enjoyed a fantastic weekend in Quebec thanks in large part to Marielle, our wonderful host at Maison Du Fort! We arrived late on Friday during a blizzard. We accessed the building via a lockbox and a key to our room was left near the front door. The room was beautifully appointed and the building very well maintained. We enjoyed a light pastry breakfast the next morning and met Marielle, who gave us recommendations for Carnaval. She also provided us with Bonhomme effigy passes for the event, a very pleasant surprise! Though the weather was cold, the building was warm and felt very cozy. Hoping to visit again in the summer to enjoy Quebec in sunnier weather.
Stayed in a room with two double beds. The room was so quaint with high ceilings, large windows, and was quite spacious. The hotel was a couple minutes walk to one of the main streets in Old Québec. The owner of the hotel was so sweet and hospitable. Very accommodating and friendly. Coffee, tea, and light breakfast was available every morning. Great place to stay!
We arrived and we were greeted with unbelievable kindness. The room was clean and as beautiful as the picture depicted on the site. The woman running the hotel couldn't do enough for us we just loved her!!!! We would absolutely stay here again.
My husband and I stayed with his sister & brother-in-law (2 rooms) over New Year’s. Mme Marielle made us feel so welcome & comfortable from arrival to departure. Thank you for keeping our champagne chilled, and supplying the glasses, Marielle! Wonderful coffee & pastries every morning. Will definitely return!!
