Such a beautiful place with so much history and cultural significance. Be sure to take the tour when you stay here. The monastery is a quiet and formal place, not for parties. You are not even supposed to speak at breakfast but that is ok by me! My room (not the traditional rooms) was very basic but clean and comfortable.
After a long hour's flight. I was looking forward to check into my hotel room. I arrived at 8:45pm on June 27, David checked me into a room that was not matching what I booked. I returned back to the front desk and asked if I could move to another room as the room that I got, was not as what was described in my booking. I was very shocked of the way David treated me. He stated that this what we have available. I asked him if there is another alternative. His only solution was to upgrade me to a different room category with extra charge. I accepted the upgraded room with an extra fee. However, the upgraded room that I got, was an accessible room without any view. You could imagine now how frustrated I was. It was a joke, not professional and no efforts were made to listen to my concerns and correct the situation in any way. After 2 hours of trying to find a suitable room. I decided to cancel my reservation as they are simply not caring and don’t have what I booked. I told David that I would like to cancel my reservation and get the refund. He told me that we would charge you a no show fee because he couldn’t cancel my reservation. I am wondering what kind of service is this? what is the hotel’s standard in term of guest’s satisfaction? I can understand that the pictures don’t usually match what you would get but the miss-advertisements, the not willing staff on providing you a solution at the middle of the night. Made me walk away from their property. They didn’t even try to correct the situation and was only looking after you to charge a no-show fee for their mistake. I decided to leave the hotel and found another hotel and guess what? they did charge me a no-show fee. I am beyond shocked and don’t have words for my experience.…
Beautifully restored 1634 monastery. With all the comforts. Excellent location with access to Old Quebec city Incredible Choir chapel that offers Lauds and Vespers in Glorious Chant ( organist is a Joy) Will be returning to this property
This location is not for everyone, but it appealed to me. Breakfast without talking? More difficult than you think, but sooo relaxing. Really made me appreciate what I was eating. No TV anywhere to watch? Also very appealing to me. This was, by far, the quietest hotel at which I have ever stayed. We stayed on the contemporary side. The rooms were simple, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was impeccable. A large array of wonderful fresh food made from scratch. There was something for everyone, even vegan options. The coffee was excellent. We were able to tour the museum at will. We were able to hear the remaining nuns at vespers( only 8 remain). Parking was 25 a night and you can come and go as you please, without valet. Very close to the waterfront and old Quebec.
Very clean and comfy. Great location for walking around Quebec City, and close to good restaurants. The building itself has a Fascinating history. The daily meditative walks were wonderful as was the museum tour.
Peaceful and Healthy Place to stay while you explore/walk the old city. Great location with view of the docks. Breakfast is an European style with delicious breads, cheese, fresh fruit, jams, and other delicacies. Soup was delicious. Silence is observed for breakfast as practiced by the nuns. Nun's Choral practice is a treat. Electrical outlets not conveniently located -- required moving the bed. White plushy bathrobes are lush. I'd definitely return.
Totally enjoyable experience. The sights and experience of Old Quebec were right around the corner. We were able to eat and site see during the day and totally disconnect from the outside world at night. The accommodation and rooms were modern and clean but staying at Le Monastere de Augustine’s was like stepping back in time. Truly a unique experience. I highly recommend it.
A beautiful experience must be indulged to know what it really is. No words to describe the wonderful stay we had. From the location to the establishment itself, I cannot say if there is anything I do not like about this place. However, I can say Le Monastere des Augustines will be my first choice when I visit Quebec City again. Thank you 🙏
A real gem in the heart of downtown Quebec City. Lovely deep bathtub, very comfortable beds. Within walking distance of anywhere, given your health and stamina (Hills). Many pubs and excellent restaurants, shops, etc. right within 3 or 4 minutes walk. Highly recommend it.
I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to stay at this historic site; the legacy of compassion and healing is tangible within the corridors of the establishment, across the beautiful gardens and within the intricacies of the architecture. Excellent choice for those seeking a place for introspection and restoration; I was moved by the thoughtful integration of holistic, eastern and western approaches to wellbeing. Super convenient if you are looking to explore the city, though truly remaining solely on the property during your stay would make for a rewarding getaway. So grateful to the Sisters for sharing their home with guests- I left with a renewed appreciation for the contemplative life and the power of spirituality. Recommend without reservation- be sure to enjoy the wonderful healing arts services and meals!…
