Spent two nights in a standard room recently which had a 'private' patio on the ground floor. Front desk service was very helpful and recognized my French was poor. Our room was very clean and the only drawback was we had to move the fridge to reach the only accessible power outlet; no big deal. Ceiling fan was a bit noisy - no aircon and no windows that can be opened. Ground floor patio door ensured we had to keep curtains closed for privacy at all times. Lashings of hot water, possibly scaldingly hot. Bed was a standard mattress, no pillow top, but quite comfortable. TV only offered French channels. The booking service commented on road noise in the Economy Rooms but not in the room we booked, but bc the building is only one room deep, road noise from the trucks heading to and from the ferry is inevitable for all rooms; perhaps the ground floor rooms experience less noise than the upper rooms - whatever, it starts around 4.30am; bring earplugs if you think it will be an annoyance. The motel is one of the first establishments you come across in the village, therefore is the furthest from the viewing rocks, maybe 1 1/2km. Parking is often at a premium around town so be prepared to walk up and down a couple of steep hills.

We had a room in the front, away from the the highway traffic in the back, so it was quiet, except for the portable room A/C which was much appreciated because of the intense heat (35 centigrade) but was inevitably noisy. The kitchenette was very convenient and well equipped. The location on the main street was perfect as it was 10 minutes from the harbour and less than 5 for the restaurants and shops. Parking is free.

This motel is very well located in Tadoussac (near all the tourist points accessible on foot in less than 15 minutes) and the free parking is a huge asset. Very friendly welcome and service with all the information to guide us. The room and bathroom (very clean) were OK for us but a little expensive for this type of motel. Simple recommendation, The owners should partner with the neighboring restaurant (La Bolée (which is excellent)) to offer breakfast with the price of the room.

My husband jokes that he likes motels for their colour TVs but, even with lower expectations, this one was a disappointment. We would recommend it only if there are no other affordable options.

The cost for a standard room for two nights was more than $400. The bed was just OK, the pillows cheap -- what you might find in the spare room of someone who doesn't want you to get too comfortable.

The bathroom fan was loud, the toilet ran and the bathroom light only worked if you took it apart and played with the flourescent tube. And noisy! OMG. A previous reviewer commented that truck traffic started at 4:30 a.m. He didn't mention that street noise doesn't stop until 2:30.

Worst was the smell of mould in the carpets. With no air conditioning, we had to keep the patio screen open day and night. What's more, the rooms aren't cleaned during a stay, but an envelope on the bedside table invites a gratuity for room cleaning!

Still, we really wanted to go whale watching. Seeing the whales was wonderful, and we were grateful to find a place to stay. As well, the nearby bakery, which opens at 6:30 a.m., was a delight.

This motel is well located and clean. It has a coffee maker but no extras. Room was never made up or clean towels offered over 3 days. Coffee was not refilled. When I complained staff did not understand English but did give me more coffee. Just be prepared for this if you choose to stay here.

Motel well located close to the sleeper. We arrived very late for the check in but we were waited. The person at the front desk took the time to tell us where to dine and walks to do.
Large room with kitchenette and bed a bit hard but comfortable.

Our family of three booked the hotel through booking.com, paid CAD 177 for one night (149+tourist tax+Quebec tax+federal tax), didn’t expect anything spectacular but was expecting something decent. We were put in room #3, and it was disappointing.

It was hot summer day, there is no AC in the room, but we cannot open the window at night since the highway is just outside of the window. The room is small, no balcony, carpet is old and smelly. What bothers me is that the smell went on my clothes and followed me for a long way.

Other than being close to the highway, the location of the motel is pretty good, next to the cruise company office, cross street to a very nice restaurant, walking distance to the bay.

If you are paying a cheap price I think it’s probably ok as a overnight place for it’s convenient location. But I wouldn’t go back for $177.

It doesn't look like much from the outside - particularly if your room is round the back where it looks a little like somewhere like Mulder and Scully would be on one of their stakeout trips - but Motel l'Anse a l'Eau was clean and comfortable with friendly, welcoming staff in a pretty town on the waterfront. Located at about a 10 minute walk from the waterside restaurants and literally a one minute drive from the ferry terminal (depending on traffic as you have to turn onto the main road and turn left for the ferry). Close to activities such as boat cruises too. Breakfast not included in the price but is available for about $8 (croissants, muffins etc)

When we reserved this hotel, they only had one room. When we arrived, we were pleased to find out that they were able to give us another room so my mum could have her own space.
The rooms were lovely and more than adequate for our needs, although it would have been very tight to have all of us in the room that we had. Mum had to change rooms for the second night but she did not mind at all.
As we are used to camping when we are in the area, we did find the rooms to be a bit pricey but NOT anywhere as pricey as some of the other hotel/motels we have been to.
Even though French was the predominant language, one of the staff spoke some English. Between their English and my French, we managed quite well.

Bonus was the gift shop next to the motel. Prices there were excellent. We were also able to catch the shuttle for our whale watching trip right next to the hotel.
All in all, this was a great stay.
