The Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa boasts a superb location that guests love for its close proximity to downtown attractions. While the hotel's renovated rooms and mineral pool receive positive remarks for their comfort and modernity, some visitors express disappointment with the outdated and unclean aspects of other rooms and a desire for additional amenities. Opinions on service are split, with some guests praising the staff's attentiveness, whereas others experience neglect. Despite these mixed reviews, the hotel's atmosphere is often appreciated for its spacious and comfortable renovated rooms.

While the pool was excellent the hotel has implemented new policies since our last visit which definitely were not for guest enhancements. Room service only if you've got a credit card on the room,no crushed ice drinks in the hotel at all, no glassware for room service. Wasn't able to find out the supper specials prior to 5 pm.

We booked expecting a pillow top bed, but no pillow top bed. Room wasn’t cleaned well - there was food stuck on cabinet near tv and dried on pop on The a/c heat control unit. There are no spinners in the change room at the pool to spin dry swim suits. Towels are tiny! And thin. Showers at the pool are cold. How do you expect people to shower before entering pool if all you get is cold water. And after running water in showers at pool for a bit to try to get warmer water, then you just get a dribble of water running down the wall. No way to shower! Also, when we checked in, we had a CAA membership, but did not get the discount we were promised on the phone when we booked, nor the free parking we thought we were getting.

Enjoyed our stay but found the housekeeping staff less than courteous and friendly. We felt like we were a inconvenience to them versus the reason they are there! Spa staff were very professional. Hotel rooms are a little dated and basic for price, No room safes in this day and age is very inconvenient. Especially when you are using the spa area and can’t watch your valuables. Really appreciated the hotel guest only time in the pool.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your comments and concerns. We are disappointed to hear that your stay did not fully meet with your expectations. Your suggestion about room safes is warmly received. When we are constructing the model rooms ahead of our full scale renovations, we will be certain that this feature is included. For guests using the pool or enjoying a spa service, this will be very helpful.

This hotel charges like its a high end establishment yet I’m sure the Super 8 is far superior. The rooms are dingy, falling apart, dated, blinds are see through, sinks are stained, and the ceiling looked liked something really went wrong. Even the inside of the elevator door is filthy. You can hear toilets flush, furniture moving, people dropping things. Don’t bother with a “do not disturb” sign on your door either – they just vacuum right out your door first thing in the morning anyway. There are no extra perks for special occasions unless you want to pay more money. Even the slippers they used to provide for guests are no longer. Towels at the pool are so small, thin, and rough they are great for exfoliating skin but not much more. For the money your better off staying elsewhere and just using the pool and spa (with your own towels of course). And lets not forget the incidental charges for nothing that aren’t removed from your final bill when you check out. Extremely disappointed.

After making the decision to take a vacation this summer it became obvious that travel out of Saskatchewan was out of the question. Where to go...? Well, we decided to check out some communities in the south of our province and Moose Jaw was a perfect location to use as "home-base".
After running around all day there could be no better way to unwind than for everyone to head "up" to the pool and let those magnificent minerals work their magic. The kids loved it and would have been happy to stay in the pool all the time. The unexpected bonus to the late evening swim was how quickly we fell asleep when we returned to our room. The beds were very comfortable and having a choice of hard or soft pillows was nice. Our room had plenty of space so everyone could spread out and relax. Our room had a balcony which gave us a nice view of the park across the street while having our morning coffee. A perfect way to start the day.

We booked this room because we were looking for a quick getaway. I was disappointed by the lack of maintenance of the hotel. The carpets were stained, the walls were spot painted with the wrong color paint and the bathroom tiles in our room were cracked.
I booked the room via the hotel website , so I was surprised when we arrived to find out that it was only adult swim after 9pm. This meant we needed to I be in the pool after this time. We left at 8:30 to have snacks. While my daughter was finishing her sandwich on the pool deck, currently only the small cafe by the pool is open post Covid, the life guard was quick to remind us to leave at 9:02. There was no announcements via loud speaker and he was not the most polite, and had taken he taken 30 second would have seen that she was trying to finish up.
Over all the cost of this hotel does not justify what you are getting in your room or the service you receive. I understand post Covid that things may be different, but this hotel did not seem clean enough nor the staff attentive enough. Many staff were not wearing their masks properly or at all. If you have a family you may want to call ahead and see if they have any adult nights planned.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your review. For the benefit of all our guests, this information is available on our website for your convenience; "9pm-12am Fri & Sat: Adults Only". It is great to bring whole families to the spa, to have this facility available to the younger guests who enjoy the warm spa water. This is not something we would wish to change. At the same time we recognise that some guests also prefer a quieter bathing experience. This is why the adult swim was instituted some years ago now.

My husband and I wanted a weekend getaway. We live in Manitoba and someone had recommended Temple Gardens to us because their spa was amazing. So we figured why not try it out. It was half the driving time compared to Banff. Well there is construction everywhere around the hotel, so good luck finding the parkade and getting around. We checked in and a couple who had previously checked in before us came back to complain about how their room looked nothing like the picture online and made a big stink, so the front desk employee swapped them our keys for theirs, and asked if they had touched anything in the room. They claimed no, but considering the circumstances of COVID I would figure they would have went and cleaned again, rather than taking their word for it. So we finally got to our room, again it's very dated. Our air conditioner was SO loud and rattled. The hotel restaurant is closed, so be prepared to leave and walk through construction. The complimentary 'take away' breakfast was very disappointing, we had corn pops, apple juice, cantaloupe and a granola bar. For the price we paid for our stay, I could have gone to Safeway down the street and had a better 'take away' breakfast. On our second night, we had found a spider in our bed, how or why, no clue. Needless to say we were grossed out and left early. In all honesty, we should have drove the extra 7-8 hours and went to Banff. This place is not worth the money.

This hotel is continuing to charge upscale prices for bare customer service.

I checked in with my 2 small dogs. Loaded up with bags because of dog extras. Struggling to push in the full luggage cart (solo), keep covid mask on, and realized as I’m going in that I think I forgot my regular dog leashes. Went in main doors carrying smaller dog and wanted to grab a breath and look for spare leashes inside one of the bags. An employee walked by with a stern look, seeing how I had my hands full and simply said, your dog can’t be off leash in here. I said, I think I forgot my regular leashes, could you give me a minute to get organized. She repeated, your dog can’t be walking around like that. “That dog” is 2 feet tall, tail wagging, just sniffing the floor.

Did the employee ask if she could help me? No.

I had to leave the loaded luggage cart in front of main door, pickup “that dog” along with the other one in my arms, go back to my vehicle and get the dogs inside, go back in the hotel to find extra leashes in one of my bags, then go back to leash dogs and then go back in hotel. By this time, I was worn out from hauling/pushing the luggage cart, carrying dogs (I am disabled with a bad back), in and out and in again. There was no employee who offered any assistance.

After I finally got everything into room, at 8’45pm, I ordered a pizza for pickup. I left the dogs in room (quiet) to pickup pizza. Gone 15 minutes tops. After 10 minutes, the front desk agent called me and asked if I was in my room. I said no, I’m picking up a pizza. I was told that my dogs are barking in my room and there’s been complaints.

So...if someone walks by where I’m staying, my dogs will bark (to protect me). It was apparent that there is zero tolerance to barking at this establishment. I realized I would not even be able to go to the pool for a half hour unless I took my dogs to the car until I was done.

Long story short, I did not feel welcomed here, nor did I feel there was $150/night hotel service. I was booked to stay 2 nights but canceled the 2nd night the next morning and went to a clean, larger, newer renovated hotel room for half the price. Plus the 2nd hotel doesn’t also charge for parking.

I won’t stay at Temple Gardens again. If I want to go to the pool, I’ll stay where I went the 2nd night, pay the $12 public pool fee, and be happier, more comfortable and save $60.

PS: the park beside the Temple Gardens hotel does not allow dogs. Lol, if you have a dog or dogs, don’t stay here. Unless your dog NEVER barks and is fine peeing on the sidewalk.

Many thanks for taking a moment to share your story. It is important to hear a situation from all sides in order to truly understand. We are sorry to hear that you felt unwelcome because our team members approached you about your dogs. Hopefully we may also present the other side of the situation. On this very forum you will see complaints about noise and in each case we warmly encourage guests to let us know at the time so that we can politely remedy the situation. This is something that we feel obliged to do rather than ignoring the requests of our guests. We must apologise if this was not communicated well at the time.

This was about our sixth time staying at Temple Gardens, and it will not be our last. In spite of the current covid-19 virus we were able to have a very enjoyable and relaxing two-day stay. there. While the restaurant was closed, the resort provided free breakfast that was pretty varied. There are also several restaurants close by. The main noticeable difference this year was that the pool was open only for guests at the resort, which meant that it was not as busy as in past visits, and there were always lounders or chairs available on the patio.

All of the staff we met were very friendly, seeming to appreciate that we were staying there. They wore masks all of the time that we were there. The room and common areas were very clean, and hand sanitizers were ubiquitous. Unlike other hotels we stayed at during this trip, we had daily housekeeping service.

A couple of tips: there's a lot of construction currently going on around the resort. While were weren't disturbed by noise on the street, finding the entrance to the parking garage was complicated, so you should get directions before you go. Also, make sure to visit the park that's adjacent to the resort; it has great gardens, fountains and paths following a large stream that runs through it, and lots of benches along the way.

Until the next time...

Our experience has been the same as the previous traveler - prices fluctuate depending on the day of the week and season. We were happy to stay and expected the cost. It continues to be a destination stop when travelling East or West. Harwoods Restaurant was excellent on our last visit earlier this week (August 2022), and the little Cafe by the pool served good fast food. Always appreciate the Starbucks there!

That seems rather strange that they would want you to book a minimum of two nights. I would call them regarding that. It’s been a while since we only booked one night only so maybe they have changed that. We usually like to book two nights because we find that one night goes by so fast and we really don’t feel like we have had a small get away. Hope it works out for you!😊
