The suite was immaculately clean and a good size. We rented a river view room and were both very appreciative of the large windows in both rooms so that we could enjoy the view. The first night we stayed in September and we’re able to enjoy the view the entire stay but in March we had to close the curtains for most of the morning before check out in order to watch the television simply due to the positioning of the sun.
The highlight of the suite is the bed. Our suite had a king sized bed and it was really comfortable. The sheets on the bed are amazing quality and feel super luxurious. You can purchase a set at the front desk and I absolutely would have if they didn’t only come in white. Their robes are also very comfortable.
Check in went smoothly both visits and the front desk staff very quickly went above and beyond to welcome us and make the process as easy as possible. Since we only stayed one night each time, we did not have a chance to experience the housekeeping day-to-day but as stated above the cleanliness was up to parr. Both of our visits were during the COVID-19 pandemic and the hotel was in full compliance to the provincial guidelines in effect at those times.
The complimentary breakfast was amazing. We had the option to either be served and eat in the Odessa Room itself or to take our breakfast back to our suite. We chose to do the later and both visits that was the only time we weren’t absolutely thrilled with the experience. I felt that when we requested to take our breakfast to our room, we were pushed to stay in the Odessa Room instead and had to insist on our decision to eat in our suite.
The breakfast menu is limited but has a good variety for what is available and was slightly different each visit. The food was very delicious and was one of the things I was looking forward to the most on our second visit.
The only negative opinion I have is simply that we felt that the extra cost for the “La Vie en Rose” package wasn’t worth it. The second stay we just brought our own cupcakes, chocolates and wine and it cost us less plus we didn’t like the wine the hotel provided.
Now few ares where they need improvement in my view: Pillows on the bed have seen good days and must be changed by now.
Elevator had broken tiles ( see picture) and hallway 5th floor carpet was visibly dirty (see picture) lobby and hallway was small and felt cramped ( I know nothing can be done to this point) view from my room was not worth close to $200 a night. All I see AC ducts. Rooms with such view should be priced accordingly. Since I was staying for one night only it didn’t bother me a lot.
This was my first time in this property. Online pictures looks grand but property is anything but grand. Breakfast was fine but it feels like having a breakfast in comfort inn or Holiday Inn where you can get room half of the price at this property.
Thank you for outstanding customer service.
Fully prepaid and non refundable booking made for staff travelling trans Canada. They arrive tired and needing a break. Policy dictates you cannot check in with a debit card or cash (it's nowhere on the mobile web site, but yes you get informed that after you make the booking). Offered a credit card authorisation. Declined as it needs 24 hours' notice, even though it's a 4 night booking. Ok, offered a credit card from a contact I have in town. Declined as not the name on the booking.
My staff reported that the front desk team were rude towards them. Front desk team refused to call the manager.
I rang and spoke with Kristen, the manager, after being condescended to by the front desk. She was less than helpful, even declining to put any of this in writing so I could claim a refund. When I asked for the hotel's formal complaint process, I was told to email the front desk. When I pointed out that it is not appropriate to send a complaint to the person being complained about, she hung up.
My overall impression is that the staff did not want to continue with a booking (prepaid and top of the range room) who were dishevelled because they had driven a long distance. There is no place for such behaviour in any hotel, let alone one that claims to be one of the best in Canada.
And to top it off it comes with a complimentary breakfast which was delicious. Highly recommend
