Also, arrival date was July 6 but if wanted to cancel, we had to do by June 29. If you have uncertain travel plans, 7-day cancellation doesn’t work. If you wanted to check in too early, there was an early check in charge.
Once you get past the very high hold on the credit cards and other restrictive policies, the rest was fine. Great staff at the front desk, in the kitchen and on the room floors.
The room was clean and ours was on the west side, got to see the sunset and darker in the morning so better to sleep in. There was a king bed, good blackout curtains, sitting chair, foot stool, work desk, fridge, microwave, Keurig, kettle, TV with local cable, included wifi, large walk-in shower and enough towels. Only very firm pillows (4). There was some road noise, mostly on the weekend from racing cars and motorcycles. There is underground and surface parking.
Breakfast-large hot items, potatoes, eggs, meat, breads, bagels, cereals, porridge, fruit, yogurt, juices, coffee, milk, waffles all good. Eggs and meat change a bit every day. Great staff refilling all the time and kept up even on the busy weekend.
On 8th Street with lots of everything around and nearby. Overall, the hotel rooms and staff were great and could stay there again but may look elsewhere for a place with a regular credit card hold amount and less restrictive check in policies.

Gym is open 24/7. There's also a pool beside it. Didn't use those two so can't comment on them.
Breakfast is free, is served at 6 am and has a full breakfast. They have a wide selection of food choices. There's only one meat choice though. They alternate between days (bacon on one day, ham on the other, etc.)
The room that I have (2 queen) has a sink outside the washroom and a sink inside. Fancy! The shower curtain is too short though! If you're the first user of the shower, the dry shower curtain will just slip through the tub! So please wet them before getting in! I did not expect it and my room got flooded! Luckily, there were only three of us and we used the fourth towel to wipe off the flood!
They have surface parking and underground parking. We chose underground so it's easy to bring luggage back to the vehicle while checking out. They have a front and a back entrance. The card reader for the back entrance is between the storm door and the second door.
Now that is a flaw, because one night, a homeless man reeking of alcohol slept inside between those two doors. Us checking out, trying to bring our luggage to the car, we were trying to sneak through the sleeping guy, and of course coming back we have to open the second door which goes to inside the hotel. So we tapped the keycard to open it, and then out of panic that the guy gets in, I forcefully struggled to close the door against the mechanized opening of the door. I was able to close it, but I broke the back door as a result. Couldn't open it anymore with the button. Oops.
Going back to the room, I took a peek outside to our vehicle. To my surprise, the homeless guy was checking out our car peeking through the windows and checking out our tires! So out of fear that he breaks in or vandalize our vehicle (we drove all the way from Manitoba on a rental) we hurriedly brought more luggage down to the car and thankfully he was off the property by the time we went down. Coming back to check on my family still in the room, there was a spit on the floor where he slept (No worries, I won't upload it). Yikes!
But still relieved that our vehicle left unscathed, and the door was also fixed too by staff, so what a relief there. So yes, the hotel itself is absolutely great, but just be careful of the sketchy elements surrounding it!
Underground parking is a nice perk but the spaces are limited so not guaranteed to get a place to park there.
Overall, a nice hotel in a decent location but it is worth it when you feel uncomfortable the whole time, like the staff are just watching you to do something against their rules. Not everyone is a criminal, ease up a little bit.
What struck me the most about this property were all the rules that they strictly enforce. I travel to SK regularly for work and this was the first time I’ve encountered a property like this.
All these rules really take away from the feeling of an enjoyable hotel “guest” experience.
Pros:
- Underground parking
- Friendly staff
- Clean and seemingly new’ish property
- No carpet in the rooms (which will also fall under cons)
Cons:
- LOTS of strongly enforced rules:
1. I was unable to check in with my business credit card (this was a first) I ended up using my personal card while waiting to complete an authorization form for the use of my business card. **I will note that the staff remained friendly through this process.
2. Pool area closes at 10pm, and they mean it! 10pm on the nose and security came to kick me out of the hot tub. This is early considering there are no rooms located directly off the pool area. Most hotels will allow you to continue use after closing hours so long as there’s no excessive noise.
3. Excessive amount of rules/signs in the pool area. No beverages, no food, no bottles, shower before entering, etc… A sign literally posted to every surface possible.
4. No bookings if you live within 25 miles of the hotel. This didn’t affect me but I feel like it’s important to list because it trends with all the strange rules this place enforces.
- Horrible pillows! Extremely lumpy with a high loft, weird combination. I actually went to Winners and bought my own pillow. Beds are also very firm; That might be a pro for some but it’s a con in my books.
- Rooms can be noisy if you have a heavy footed upstairs neighbour. I generally prefer hotels that do not have carpet in the rooms but on this visit I could clearly hear the people above me.

I also love that there is a separate (additional) sink and mirror outside of the room's bathroom to allow brushing of teeth or combing of hair while another is using the toilet. And no noisy fan in the bathroom everytime you enter which we have run into in other hotels (then waking my spouse when using the washroom at night).
Mattresses were very comfortable, yet supportive. And there were two different pillow densities so you could choose softer or firmer (or one of each) on the beds.
