Detailed Reviews
People at Sky High couldn't have been any friendlier. Great location by Fish Lake. We went after the tourist season ended in October and actually had their amazing and comfortable lodge all to ourselves. Loved the giant wood fireplace. Actually a quick drive from Whitehorse, it had snowed quite a lot, but it was an easy drive for anyone with winter driving experience (even without 4 wheel drive). No cell service, but that was part of the charm, hard to truly be on vacation anymore with phones in our hands, so this was a nice break from it all. Dog-sledding was great too, so much fun and not difficult even for a beginner like me. They have rescued many otherwise doomed dogs who were beyond eager to pull me around.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time during our 4 day "taste of mushing" tour at Sky High Wilderness. Jocelyn provided excellent communication and answered all of our questions during the weeks leading up to our trip. Our guide, Elaine, was an excellent teacher and cook. We loved the overall flexibility and personalization of our trip - everything was catered to how long we wanted to go sledding, where we wanted to go, etc. Overall this is an incredibly authentic experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure and willing to get outside their comfort zone for a few days!

Can you separate two teenage girls from their cell phones and be happy as a family together? Yes you can at Sky High Wilderness Ranch where adventure (via incredible once in a life time dogsledding experience) and peace of being in nature ‘off grid’ combine. We loved stepping away from the stress of work and our digital worlds to appreciate the peace of stunning views, being surrounded by nature, and stepping back in time to live for 4 nights in a log cabin which is charming, if rustic, akin to glamping. (Tip for packing it was never cold, the wood stove produced ample heat, so don’t bring as many layers as we did). Jocelyne and her team were a perfect balance of responsive and friendly while leaving us to enjoy the remoteness by ourselves.
If you are up for an authentic adventure and love being active outside, then I can’t recommend this enough. We were truly sad to leave and maybe will try a taste of the ranch in summer so we ca look forward to another trip in future.

Sky High Wilderness provides an amazing and authentic service for its customers. Dog sledding was an experience of a lifetime, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is after an adventure. Over the 4 days, we covered 100km (15 hours) of different terrain around the ranch area. The guides are dedicated and provide an amazing experience for the guests. The accommodation was amazing and provides a social aspect which would appeal to even solo travellers. The off-grid experience adds to the authenticity of the tour. The booking and communication process was seamless with the staff. Our mushing guide (Paul) provided and incredible service over the whole period.

I've been dog sledding now for well over a decade and been to 5 different places and this one for me was the best experience of the lot. The guides are fantastic; they train and support you all the way. I had the 10 day sled trip (4 day trips, 2x 3 day expeditions) and loved just about every minute of it.
The dogs are well looked after, the equipment is good and the food tasty and not the really basic stuff you sometimes get on these trips - not gourmet but solid home cooking plus.
The trails are varied in difficulty (subject to weather conditions of course) and the scenery stunning. If you're looking for a break from the everyday tech and screens in winter then this off-grid experience cannot fail to delight.

We booked the Husky rush experience and It was so much fun. Jocelyne was really nice getting us outfitted in the right gear to endure the weather (dumped snow). Our guide Jonathan was lovely with the pups, sharing stories of the local dog sled race and what considerations were crucial for dog sled racing. The dogs were a delight and extremely well socialized. We loved playing with so many of them.

We went to Sky High Wilderness Ranch for a 4 day dog sledding adventure. We did the 4 day Camp trip and it was everything we could have wished for. The staff at Sky High was incredible and everyone went out of their way to make sure our stay was fantastic from cooking us meals, to making sure our wood burning stove was warmed up in our cabin for when we returned from mushing. The dogs were so well behaved and friendly. We stayed in the Auroa cabin while at the ranch and the views could not be beat - a view of the lake, a nice loft for sleeping, and a private sauna.
While this ranch might not be for everyone (there is NO electricity, only outhouses, you have to heat your own water, and it's COLD in the winter!!) - if you are looking for a unique off grid experience, lots of open space and wilderness, and want to spend time with dogs and friendly people, this is the place to do that.

Our third trip - still amazing!!
December 2023 marked our third weeklong dog sledding trip here in 5 years. Though we have covered many of the trails on prior trips, there’s still plenty of wonder at the stunning natural beauty of the Yukon. We find ourselves in awe of our sled dogs, their resilience and devotion to pulling. And we always find ourselves very attached to each of our dogs. Kristina has been our guide for all three trips, and she inspires us by her incredible skill with dogs, and her ability to understand both sled dogs and her clients. We love her, our perfect guide. We are totally at home with her, we feel totally lucky to be in the Yukon in midwinter, and totally happy that our family can experience this together.

I can't say enough about Sky High, and everyone that works there, including all of the amazingly sweet dogs! Our guide Paul was super knowledgeable, really kind and loves his dogs SO much. All dogs are treated so well, and are well loved, including the lovely retired ones that roam the property enjoying their days of leisure.
The trails were beautiful, scenery stunning and dogsled instruction from Paul was thorough, which made for a fantastic day in the wilderness! We will be back for SURE, but next time, we'll book more than a half day! SO glad we chose Sky High, and only wish we had spent more time there.

This experience was absolutely amazing. The staff, the service and the location was incredible and breathtaking. The dogsledding experience was so much fun. The dogs are so happy and well-taken care of and oh-so-friendly! I would do anything to duplicate this experience and I can't wait to do it again someday. I didn't want it to end.
