Dolores and Greg should write a manual on how to B&B! They have thought of, and provided, everything: incredibly comfortable bed, gorgeous bedding, fluffy towels, bathrobes, toiletries you might have forgotten, delicious breakfast in a spotlessly clean home and more. But the best part of staying here is Dolores and Greg. They are friendly, warm, helpful, and a blast to talk to. Highly recommend!

This was our first visit at Back Home Bed and Breakfast and we were so happy to have discovered this gem among available accommodations close to Sydney. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We recommend travellers enjoy the delicious breakfasts available in the morning at an extra cost well worth the fee. Our hostess Delores was very friendly and accommodating. We would not hesitate to recommend Back Home Bed and Breakfast … you will not be disappointed! Leslie and Brian Fraser

My partner and I just stayed at the Back Home B&B and had a very nice experience. The B&B is in a beautiful home which was spotlessly clean and inviting. There were snacks, tea and coffee in our room with a very comfortable bed and pillows. Our room also had its own adjacent washroom which had everything in it that we needed. Our breakfast this morning was absolutely delicious! We had fresh grapefruit and an omlette with sausage, roasted veggies and a slice of roasted pineapple, toast and coffee. Such a nice treat.
Not only will we be returning in the future but we also highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a great place to stay in the Sydney area. Thank you Dolores for your generous hospitality.

This B&B is truly one of the nicest in which we've stayed. The Clipper Room is particularly nice (ensuite, opens out to the deck overlooking the horse pasture, full of amenities). Delores and Greg are great hosts. Delores cooked up a fine breakfast both times that we stayed. (We stayed when we took the ferry from Sydney and when we came back on it.) We had a half day to pass in Sydney before the ferry departure, and Greg recommended the fascinating Miners Museum. I would recommend it to anyone traveling through Sydne

Our hosts Delores and Greg were so friendly and helpful in helping us decide on which attractions to see. Delores's breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed every last bit. The rooms were appointed with numerous amenities. We especially enjoyed the towel and robe warmer and interacting and feeding the horses. The king bed was super comfortable. We will be back again. Next time we will have an evening at the fire pit. This BNB comes highly recommended!

The place was spotless, everything was provided for including new toothbrushes for people who had forgotten to pack them.
The host sat down a chatted as we ate the breakfast she had just cooked for us ,she takes an interest in wherever you are from I would stay at this place in an instant

We stayed in the Clipper Room for two nights and the Majestic room for three nights. We loved the Clipper room and consider it to be great value - a large air conditioned room with comfortable bed. A huge ensuite bathroom with shower stall and tub. The Majestic room did not fare as well - smaller room with no air conditioning, smaller bed, and a small washroom with shower located quite far away from the room. We would stay in the Clipper room again quite happily but would not stay in the Majestic room - it's good value but not what we look for in accommodations.
The whole home was exceptionally clean and the breakfast by Delores was really good - she accommodates your preferences and makes your meals varied throughout your stay. Delores and Greg were fine hosts.

GOOD
- Personable host.
- Good breakfast (costs extra).
- Our room was very clean, the king mattress was very comfortable, and Jacuzzi tub was nice.
- In-room fridge.

COULD BE BETTER
- Breakfast was too much food (for us).
- We wouldn't return in October. Inn and our room was decorated for Halloween...Demonic stuff creeps us out.

Without a doubt, this is one of the nicest B&Bs that we’ve stayed in. This is a lovely family home that is beautifully decorated and immaculate. Everything is just right. We were in the Clipper Room which is the largest of the three rooms where they have guests. There are some lovely decorative features in the room and one fun one. I won’t spill the beans here but it is a great room.
There’s a bar fridge with a freezer compartment for you to freeze your ice packs. That’s a thoughtful feature. There are no cooking privileges but if you bring in food, there are plates, glasses, cutlery, etc., to use. The Clipper room has a large ensuite bathroom. The shower is roomy as is the jacuzzi tub. The bath mats are amazing. So soft! The towels are large and luxurious. No little, thin, white ones!
Delores kindly allowed me to do a load of laundry and I was able to read in the comfortable living room while I waited for the machines to do their jobs. It was quiet and peaceful after a busy day on the Cabot Trail. I believe it’s a handy location to stay if you are taking the ferry to Newfoundland. We met guests who were doing just that.
The home is located near Sydney and it took us just 11 minutes to drive to the Big Fiddle. This is a newer home and the family resides on the lower level and guests are on the main floor. There are three guest rooms but we did not hear noise from anyone.
We enjoyed sitting on the back balcony and watching the horses. The horses have a quiet retired life there! It was so sunny that my hang to dry laundry was dry in just a few hours.
Breakfast is served at 9 am and the food was good and plentiful. The table was beautifully laid and it was a great way to start our day. The homemade blueberry jam was a real treat!
There is a room price and a breakfast price. On our first morning, we left before 7 am to drive to the Cabot Trail so we passed on breakfast that day. Our fee for the breakfast was $15 each, so reasonable. It’s nice to have the option of having or not having breakfast and paying only when you do want it.
There are two cats in residence but we rarely saw them. They were quiet, too!
This is an excellent Bed and Breakfast choice if you need a place in the Sydney area or if you are looking to relax in beautiful Nova Scotia!

We had a very nice stay except one problem. The Majestic room’s bathroom is very far from the room. You need to walk the lenght of hallway, then through the living room, laundry room to get to the bathroom. It is a pain to do that during the night.
Otherwise the host is very nice, the room is great and very clean.
The other dissapointing fact is that breakfast is only served at 9:00am not before. Most of the guest leave before that.
I would stay here again in a diffrent room.
