Visited and stayed here for a weekend wedding. The staff are very friendly, hospitable, and accommodating. The facilities and site is beautiful. We stayed on the first weekend in July during a heat wave and some intermittent rain, which seemed to have brought a lot of mosquitos. There's also leeches present in the water so do be mindful when going swimming in the lake. The breakfast buffet was very delicious. The rooms have great sound proofing as the cabin next door were up partying late at night and we didn't hear them at all.

I am a local and had the pleasure of a massage by Trinity today. Despite being in a temporary spa location, she was calm and organized. Trinity was flexible with availability throughout our booking. Some highlights from my treatment were: warm bed, warm oil, warm towels, luxuriously cleaned feet after oil was applied, an eye cover, no pressure to converse during treatment and I especially enjoyed the head and hand massage aspects. Highly recommend!

This is an amazing place to visit in the Winter, Summer, spring or Fall. Its full of peace and tranquility. You are right on their private section of the lake, your cabin is cozy, comfortable and clean. We were welcomed and checked in efficiently. Their guest service agent, gave us a small tour and explained what other services and facilities are available the gym and boot rentals.
Our cabin was perfectly clean, beds are SUPERB., couches, fireplace, kitchen, everything was excellent. We brought some snacks to cook and prepare and kitchen utensils worked perfect. You have a mini stove, microwave, fridge and mini freezer, enough to place two Bistro wraps.

The menus for breakfast and dinner are lovely, our server at breakfast was Steve (all hands down and applause to his impeccable service and waiting on us) He explained the menu, made modifications upon request, talked to us about his adventures and the life out in the local area..he is amazing and he is the reason we will come back to this place. Our Server at dinner was lovely as well, I cant recall her name but she had short shoulder length hair..she was very sweet and served beautifully; many many thanks to both of you.

This resort has 3 lobby living rooms, equipped with games, movies, coffee/tea available daily and fresh. You can go for hikes, use their spa services, sauna and hot tub…wild life you can catch a glimpse of as well..

We slept soundly, this report is absolutely wonderful and yes we will be back, we thank you for everything and much more.

My wife and I selected the Trillium Resort for a late summer getaway. Overall we left a bit disappointed. First, the positives. The resort is in a secluded location and we loved the quietness and serenity. We stayed in one of the cottages, while not luxurious, are clean and functional with a comfy king-sized bed. The main lodge is a lovely building with very nice furnishings - leather sofas etc. We enjoyed a dip in the outdoor pool which is very clean and well maintained and we also loved sitting on Muskoka chairs by the lake early one morning. Breakfast was included, and the buffet offers a wide selection of foods. Now, the negatives. When we arrived, the fellow at the front desk was solely interested in getting our credit card; we were not welcomed and told what we could experience during our stay. He didn’t even tell us we had to book dinner times. Dinner is served in a large room in the main lodge. There was only one waiter and bus boy, which resulted in a very slow meal, with the waiter complaining they are short-staffed. The meal was just ok. The biggest issue during our stay is that the internet was down and there is no cell service in this remote location. So, no TV either. There was no maid service: we had to call the front desk to request fresh towels. Here are our suggestions to make The Trillium a must visit. 1) Greet guests with a warm and informative introduction to the property. 2) Provide beach towels at the pool. 3) Don’t bother with serving dinner; there are several excellent restaurants in nearby Huntsville and Bracebridge that are difficult to compete with. 4) promote a bonfire by the beautiful lake every night, with marshmallows for toasting. In summary, the Trillium Resort seems happy with striving to be average and it could offer so much more.

We usually stay at Sir Sam's Inn but they were booked so we snagged the last available room at Trillium. Chelsea at the desk was helpful and efficient. Our Lakeside Chalet #1 was the closest to amenities and had a view of the lake albeit partially obstructed by trees. It had been renovated, very spacious and had a nice ski chalet feel. The lake is small and quiet, shallow and quite warm with a sandy beach. We enjoyed the paddle boards and canoes but the kayaks were disappointing as they were whitewater models missing any rudder so impossible to steer (we are both experts so it was the kayak!). The pool was large, shaded and freezing so we stuck to the lake. Bikes were in need of some maintenance but still workable and there was a scenic lake road perfect for bikes.

Dinner was very good although not up to Sir Sam's standards (desserts were fabulous) but it was nice that they packed it up to go so that we could have a private romantic dinner on our huge deck. Buffet breakfast was excellent with good variety and everything done to perfection.

We enjoyed our stay and are happy to have a found a great place for a peaceful retreat.

We checked into the Trillium resort and spa expecting that we would have a nice clean cottage as per on-line images. Instead we arrived to a mildew and possibly Mold infested cottage with poor maintenance upkeep, The TV, Toilet and fridge were not working. There was another small fridge which did work, but didn't seem very cold. We attempted to have the resort staff show us an alternative cottage, but she was unwilling to show us another cottage even though there was still plenty of cottages available. We were unable to stay in the room because of the Mildew and had to leave the resort. They did not charge us for the stay but kept our $100 deposit claiming they needed to clean the room. We were only in the room for 20 minutes. If the room was properly cleaned , maintained, aired out and disinfected this would of probably not been an issue. Would definitely not recommend this resort to anyone.

Response from Robert H, Innkeeper at Trillium Resort and Spa
Responded Jun 22, 2020
To respond to your review. We are sorry that Trillium Resort was not what you were looking for. Trillium Resort does not give in to threats so when you called threatening bad reviews if we did not reimburse your deposit we did tell you that there was a cost to clean and disinfect the room now that it has been occupied. As a courtesy we did not charge the entire night as per our policy as indicated on our registration and cancelation agreement . I can assure you that all our accommodations were completely cleaned , disinfected and ready to accept our guests. Our professional housekeeping team ensured me that our rooms do not have mold and mildew as you suggest, however there has been and is quite a lot of pollen in our area. Furthermore it became apparent that you were looking for a different experience one with a large porch and a private lawn after the conversation with our night manager. We did have guests in that same cottage the following night with the guests enjoying their stay.

Allotted to a 'pet-friendly' cabin, not the beautiful newish chalet/ cottage we requested, or believed we were reserving. Cabin was old, dilapidated , in great need of repair: leaking, gaping hole in iv rm ceiling we could see right up to wooden lathe rafters, closet doorknob fell off in spouse's hand, broken rusty alum door spring with parts missing. Obviously recycled, Pet Gift goodie bag of used items (blanket, mat, 2 bowls with tag attached to bag for use only during our stay> In other words not a 'gift' at all. Dinner from cardboard boxes in this run-down cabin unappealing, but very tasty. Clean sheets, but mind the hidden danger lurking behind the bed skirt beneath box spring: square , pointed slab wood corners that stick out. We had to pad those with towels to avoid further injury to our shins. Holes in window screen, hole in tea towel, freezer made liquid ice cubes. Call to front desk reception gal who remained silent when we requested maintenance/housekeeping. No one attended. Lots of children guests also-so not an only adult place. Several windows and ceiling fans and one plug in fan provide good cross ventilation. Accessible but steep ramp upto narrow front doorway, bathroom is very narrow, unsure if a wheelchair would fit thru. No A/C. No cable or satellite TV, but can borrow from a vast library of DVDs. Overall, we felt deceived and scammed. You might want to stay elsewhere.

Nice quiet place to get away from the city, catch your breath and recharge. The people are friendly, the facilities are good. We enjoyed the various fireplaces and the outdoor sauna.

Really appreciated that when friends visited with us unexpectedly they were welcomed to share a meal with us in the restaurant.

All in all a great weekend.

Beware. Your reservation is not a reservation. We were travelling to Ontario from western Canada. We made a reservation at Trillium many months prior to our June visit. In April, I received a call from Cyndy saying that we needed to change our reservation because a large group wanted the entire resort for the dates we had reserved. She said that we would receive a complementary bottle of wine for the inconvenience. I did change the date and rearranged our entire schedule but, in the end, I had a really bad taste in my mouth for being unceremoniously “bumped” so I cancelled. When we are back in the area I definitely will not stay at Trillium and have told everyone I know about our experience. Unbelievable.

We stayed for 4 nights. The cottage we stayed in, was attached to another cottage. The cottage is dated, but clean and comfortable. There was a gas fireplace, kitchenette and full bathroom. Although no fault of the owners, we could hear the people in the attached cottage walking around late at night and the door opening and closing several times.

The ground were beautiful, we used the canoe and paddle boat as well as went on the hiking trails twice. We did not have a chance to check out the swimming pool, hot tub, tennis courts or firepits that were also available to use. All equipment was free to use (except the Spa) just had to sign it out at the front desk. We had the American modified plan, so our breakfast and dinners were included everyday.

The food was excellent, good variety for dinner with daily specials and soup of the day. Breakfast was buffet style with the chef or other employee serving the food. Eggs 2 ways, homefries, sausage and bacon, waffles or french toast and pancakes, fresh fruit and pastries. There was also had cold cereal, coffee tea and juice available and toast was provided if requested.

The main lodge was rustic and clean. There were movies that could be borrowed as there is no cable TV or satellite TV in the rooms. Wifi is available.

There were no children when we stayed. Everyone was adhering to the social distancing guidelines as far as we could see.

I can see us returning again.

I do not know for sure but I did not observe any cover to retain heat and the pool was as cool or cooler than the lake when we were there this weekend so assume it is most likely not heated. There is a good sized hot tub adjacent to the pool.

Linens and towels were in the room. A beach towel of your own would be helpful and yes bring your own coffee and tea etc to use in your room. I was there in the winter so I am unsure of all the summer sports equipment supplies. Have a wonderful time the staff there are very helpful so I am sure they will help you out with any requests. Enjoy your stay Sandra
