Not impressed with the menu here; gammon steak and the like. Ordered the (safe) pie of the day but they were out of it, so had a terrible rump steak. The wine list is very poor and had the worst French red of my life. Needless to say we won't be going back EVER. Locals have since told me the...

A friendly and convenient public house in a quiet and well located village. The proprietors and staff are a great source of local information and suggestions for exploring the countryside and nearby attractions. We were made to feel very welcome and would certainly recommend this pub to other visitors.

Hello We will be coming to Dunsford July 2017 and will be coming to the pub - will you still be closing early 8.30pm? We may also need some accommodation in August 2017. We are looking forward to fish and chips night - Tuesday I believe?

We've just spent 3 nights at The Royal Oak with our friends. We've travelled from France to be there and couldn't have wished for better accommodation and hosts. We ate there every night and were spoilt for choice, the food is amazing. We were lucky to be there for the fish and chips and would say that there the best...

Stayed two nights. Bed very comfortable, lots of hot water, room very clean. Plenty wardrobe and drawer space for longer stay. Didn't spend any time in the room but one comfortable chair if needed. Excellent breakfast. Came for friend's celebration locally so no opportunity to try meals or the bar at the Royal Oak. NB (not a problem for me)...

This is our second stay.. Last one in 2012.. We enjoy the friendly atmosphere with the local people and all their dogs! Hosts are chatty and helpful and offer a good English breakfast. Rooms are basic but clean and roomy with shower or bath and tea making facilities. Easy parking at the back of the hotel near the paddock with...

After lunch was shown to room. It was spottlessly clean and welcoming. No sign of previous dogs, smelt fresh and was tastefully decorated. One of us didn't want the full English breakfast that was no problem. Enjoyed scrambled eggs.Good nearby country walks.

We were made to feel very welcome, very friendly bar staff and a reasonable selection of real ales - forced to try them all - they were excellent and well kept ... hic! 8-) Didn't eat here, but the fish and chip night on the Friday night seemed very popular and the pub was packed out with locals - always...

Thought tthe meal here was pretty average, but nothing special. The pub offered economy meals two for £10 reasonabl considering todays market. Thought the decor, upholstery and carpets needed an urgent face-lift, however We are aware of the struggle experienced running a country pub but a make-over would not go amiss here.Pub atmosphere is good and nice to hear Devon...

My partner and I stumbled across this place as we had actually broken down on one if the nearby lanes. We have never been made to feel more welcome. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere in the pub was very cosy. They had lovely ales and the pub itself had a huge amount of character. We...
