Close your eyes and imagine a small farmhouse located a few miles outside a tiny hamlet in the French countryside. On the property you have chickens, a stream and an old mill. At night the stars are so bright you can almost read by their light, and the only sound is the breeze in the trees, the owls, and the occasional whispered rush of a distant bullet-trail. Ok, now open your eyes and book this place! There are only three guest rooms, but they are spacious, modern, and very comfortable. The innkeepers, Marie-Francoise and Andre’, were extremely kind, helpful and attentive. They were politely distant (giving us our privacy), but more than willing to engage us if we opened the dialogue. We were so taken by this property that we just sat outside every night and had a picnic under the stars as we enjoyed one of the bottles of wine available in our room (the cost per bottle was a very reasonable 8 euro). To be honest, we didn’t know what to expect of Blois or the area, but we were pleasantly surprised by both. Our only regret was that we couldn’t spend many, many more days there. The valley has much to offer; sites, shopping, food, and this is a PERFECT place to stay!

What a delightful place ! Fantastic house, beautiful garden, welcoming host, great breakfast. The room was comfortable and restful. A wonderful night. A great relief after the bustle of Paris. The Moulin de Choiseaux is one of the best Bed and Breakfast of the Loire Valley.

For my wife and me, two well-travelled international voyeurs, Moulin de Choseaux was one of the best B & Bs we have experienced in our many years of travel. The charming 18th century home in a tranquil country setting with the most gracious French owners is well located for making several day trips exploring this area of the Loire Valley. Our room was great and our host, Madame Marie Francois and Andre, provided wonderful breakfasts each morning which included her homemade yogurt. We were so delighted with the arrangement we stayed for 5 nights rather than the 3 we had originally planned. Over many years of travel, we have learned that if you find a place you really enjoy, stay planted there as long as you can. This is truly one of those places.

We have slept two nights in the Moulin de Choiseaux, close to Blois and Chambord. Our room was very spacious and clean with a large bathroom. Downstairs there was a nice little salon and a kitchen. There is also a swimming pool and a nice garden. Breakfast is simple buth okay. They do not serve dinner in this place, but 300 meters from this B&B there is another B&B 'La Bergerie'. They serve excellent food in the evening for very reasonable prices. We have spend a lovely weekend here and i can recommend this place to anyone.

Even with a GPS, this charming old mill is not easy to find, however once we did arrive we were warmly welcomed and shown to the "Chambre des vieux livres", not the room we had booked, which seemed to be a constant theme during our weekend in the Loire Valley, but an even better one, also a constant, so it was fine. The room, in keeping with its name, is indeed decorated with lots of old books, and a rather eclectic mixture of other antique items including an old type writer. The room was very spacious, and had a rather nice chaise longue and a reasonably sized bathroom. In spite of the lateness of our arrival, our hosts were able to recommend a nice restaurant in the local area. We had a little trouble opening the gate when we got back from the restaurant, despite the detailed operating instructions given to us by our hosts, but thankfully they were able to let us in. The next morning, breakfast was served in intimate surroundings in front of a roaring open fire, which the family dog dug! The highlight, however, was the homemade yoghurt, much better than anything you could imagine finding in the supermarket! After breakfast we were able to explore the property under snowfall. The building is a converted water mill and retains the former wheel at the side of the house. In the summer months the gardens (with pond, swimming pool, and winding pathways to explore) would be an ideal place to relax, even if the TGV train track does run quite near the property. We should say though that this did not disturb us in any way. In conclusion, this B&B provides excellent value for money in an authentic old dwelling, ideally situated for exploring Chambord and the surrounding area.
